Saturn is a pretty well-known - and feared! - planet, and rightfully so. Saturn is the teacher, the taskmaster, who demands we learn as much as we can, and we grow, mature, and evolve into better people. When we avoid this, Saturn punishes us. With the areas of life ruled by the house transit Saturn is occupying in your natal chart, you can experience challenges. Energy may be restricted and limited, and you have extra responsibilities. You can get overwhelmed more easily, and have to avoid cutting corners. There are lessons to learn, and once you learn them, you can make progress. But it can take a while to get to that progress, even when doing everything right. Saturn spends about 2-3 years in each of your natal houses, and it's usually hardest at the onset and for the first half. If you have learned lessons, things start to improve during the second half of the transit, and you can get big rewards sometimes at the very end. Saturn wants to make sure we're serious about what we've learned and have actually learned it before letting us off of the hook. Surviving Transit Saturn in the Houses:Transit Saturn in the 1st House
The 1st house rules the self, so when transit Saturn is in the 1st house, you can feel restricted and limited overall in your life. You may have way more responsibilities, and have to do absolutely everything the right way and for the right reasons, otherwise punishment awaits you at every turn. You may feel like things aren't very fair, and more is being demanded of you than is reasonable.
How to survive: Well, you kind of have to suck it up to an extent. You have to do everything the right way and for the right reasons, and that's that. It's not going to be super easy, but that's okay. Saturn doesn't throw more at you than you can handle (that's Pluto's job). So even when it feels like too much, it really isn't. You can make it. It can help to try and find some breathing room where you can, some space within all of the limitations. Transit Saturn in the 2nd House
The 2nd house rules money, so when transit Saturn is in the 2nd house, it often triggers a period where you have less money, or you at least feel like you do (so even if you don't, you may be paranoid about it). This house also rules your values, so you may question the values you have, what you value in life, and you may experience a decrease in self-esteem and confidence.
How to survive: Financially, you'll need to make sure you're paying close attention to every penny, and you'll want to be smarter with your financial choices. Save more, spend less, and think about the future and how to plan for it. At the same time, you don't want to be a complete miser (Saturn will punish that too!), so so be thoughtfully generous. If you question your values, assess if they really are the right ones for you; and if you feel more insecure, this is likely highlighting something deeply rooted that needs to be addressed. Transit Saturn in the 3rd House
The 3rd house is communication and expression, so when transit Saturn is in the 3rd house, you may be quieter, not speak up as much, and this can make you feel misunderstood (though you're not really saying what you want to say). You may have a hard time being optimistic, and can look at everything a little too realistically.
How to survive: It's okay for you to be alone with your thoughts, and if you're not comfortable with that, it may be pointing out something within that needs to be worked on. Take this time to be more thoughtful with your words. A realistic outlook can be helpful for planning, but if you're rejecting imagination, that isn't really helping, so try to balance both reality and whimsy. Transit Saturn in the 4th House
The 4th house is the home and family, so when transit Saturn is in the 4th house, you may have challenges at home or with your family. You may spend less time with them, you may need to move in a way you're not happy with, or you may feel like you're emotionally sullen. This is also the bottom of the chart, so it can feel like you bottom out in some way in your life.
How to survive: The 4th house rules emotions, so this is a time for you to tackle emotional issues, especially any related to or caused by your family and upbringing. Get at your core and dredge up that sludge that needs to be eliminated. It can be an emotional period but one that ends up freeing by the end. Find what home and family means to you, and create it the way you want it to be. It's also helpful to have a solid support system during this transit, or build one if you don't already have one. Transit Saturn in the 5th House
The 5th house is the house of love, so when transit Saturn is in the 5th house, you may feel like the love is gone from your life. You may have less time for loved ones, romance may be nonexistent, and you may lack time for doing the things you love too. Hobbies get pushed aside, and inspiration may dry up, leaving a bout of creator's block.
How to survive: Work on your connection to your heart. If you're really struggling, you may not have had a good connection to begin with. Work to be more heart-centric in your life. There are likely issues related to love that need to be addressed, but don't just think of love of others - challenges with self-love is often the culprit. And try not to be hard on yourself if you don't have the time for fun you used to. It'll come back eventually. Transit Saturn in the 6th House
The 6th house is the house of work, daily life, and health, so when transit Saturn is in the 6th house, you may struggle with the work you do, wanting to do something else, or not getting the recognition you deserve. You may be dissatisfied in your daily life, but are unsure what to change (or scared to). You may have little health issues pop up periodically, and it may be a challenge to find a cause.
How to survive: Saturn in the 6th house points out everything you're unhappy with in your daily life. The unhappier you feel, the worse it gets! So try to do things every day that make you happy. If you loathe your work, try to change it. If your routine is boring, make it exciting. As for health, this is often linked to one thing - stress! Saturn loves to stress us out (it's like a sick game), and the 6th house rules stress. Tackling stress is often the key to getting a handle on your health issues during this transit. Transit Saturn in the 7th House
The 7th house rules your relationships and the people in your life, so when transit Saturn is in the 7th house, you can experience challenges in dealing with others. People may leave your life, whether of their own accord or your choice. It can be a little emotional, and you may feel at times like you don't have as many people you can count on as you'd thought.
How to survive: Saturn in the 7th house wants you to get serious about your relationships and commitments to others, so it weeds out the people who don't really care about you, or who you really don't care about, or who you have outgrown, or who are no longer a benefit to your life. This can be difficult to see in the interim, but is ultimately necessary. The relationships that survive can be in it for the long haul, and you can have a better view of what a healthy relationship is. Transit Saturn in the 8th House
The 8th house is the dark house, the one where our demons lie, so when transit Saturn is in the 8th house, you may be forced to confront things you've hidden away deep down inside of you. The bad parts of yourself, the bad experiences and traumas, all of it gets shoved away, and Saturn brings it right out into the cold light of day for you to see in all its hideousness.
How to survive: Of course there's a reason for this - you shouldn't be shoving everything away! It's okay to put things aside in the moment, when you don't have the time or the focus or the wherewithal to deal with it, but it should *stay* that way. That's when it becomes bad, and Saturn let's you know that. So dig deep, way down deep, to face the things you've been running from. Recognize the darker parts of yourself. And work on ways of dealing with it that are positive and healthy. This can be a very heavy transit, but is one meant to leave you much lighter. Transit Saturn in the 9th House
The 9th house rules expansion, so when transit Saturn is in the 9th house, you may struggle with finding opportunities at times, feel like you can't think bigger or brighter and have to be realistic, and can box yourself in a little bit. This house also rules beliefs, and you may question the beliefs you have and feel disconnected.
How to survive: Give yourself as much space as you can find without taking it away from others. This can help you make use of opportunities when they come, and not be so pessimistic. Find positive ways of expressing yourself, and this can turn your mood around too. As for your beliefs, if you question them, they may not be in alignment with who you are now, and this can prompt you to find new beliefs that are. Transit Saturn in the 10th House
The 10th house is the house Saturn naturally rules, so when transit Saturn is in the 10th house, you can get extra responsibilities and lessons heaped on you if you haven't learned them yet. You may experience setbacks with your goals, and feel like you're uncertain of your direction in life. You may lack the connections you need, and not get the recognition you deserve.
How to survive: You have to be an ultimate Saturn, and do things the right way and for the right reasons, manage your responsibilities as best as you can, and be honest with yourself about your lessons. In this way, it's very similar to the 1st house experience. But you also need to stay disciplined and focused on your goals and ambitions, and keep at it through the setbacks and delays. The 10th house is the highest part of the chart, so you can get rewarded in a big way once Saturn is at the end of this transit if you do things right (and if you were doing things right all along, you usually get rewarded at the start of this transit instead of the end). Transit Saturn in the 11th House
The 11th house rules your hopes and dreams for the future, so when transit Saturn is in the 11th house, you may feel like your hopes and dreams aren't realistic and you should give them up. You may be less hopeful and more pessimistic about the future. You may box yourself in and not allow yourself to be innovative or a true individual. And with this house ruling friends, you may see friends go from your life.
How to survive: Don't automatically give up on your hopes and dreams, and instead just work on being more disciplined and smarter with them. Put together plans, do research, and gather information. When you're smart about it, Saturn can help you get closer to what you want. As for friends, the ones that leave are likely ones that were never really friends to begin with, or you simply outgrew, and it's time for better, healthier friendships. Transit Saturn in the 12th House
The 12th house is the house of the hidden, the subconscious, and the past, so when transit Saturn is in the 12th house, you may need to take a big step back away from any attention and can feel easily drained by others. You may be easily overwhelmed too, and old issues from the past can rear their ugly head. Your subconscious motivations and desires can cause more problems, and you can feel weighed down by the past.
How to survive: This is a time when you need to take that time away, from the spotlight, from crazy work and demands, and be much more introspective. It's an amazing time for therapy of any kind, if you're open to that. The more quiet time you get to reflect, to think about the past, to consider every situation and trauma, the more you can learn about yourself, and the more you can let go of. This is the last house, so it's a time to let go of that old baggage, but you need to do some understanding with it first. Clearing it out can help you in a big way when Saturn moves into the 1st house, and it's not as bad.
