FIRE
Fire is active, confident, and assertive. The fire signs can’t sit around and wait for something to happen, and have to get up and do something. This makes them the most daring signs. They tend to have a lot of energy, and they tend to be more enthusiastic and positive than the other signs. They’re also more impulsive and hot-headed though. The fire signs are Aries, which is the most energetic of the three; Leo, which is the most warm of the three; and Sagittarius, which is the most optimistic of the three.

EARTH
Earth is stable, practical, and sensible. The earth signs have patience, and they prefer to wait, letting things happen in their own time, instead of pushing the matter. This can make them stuck in their ways at times, and they can be the most closed of the signs. They prefer to have a calm, stable life, and are the most hard-working. The earth signs are Taurus, which is the most immovable of the three; Virgo, which is the most practical of the three; and Capricorn, which is the hardest worker of the three.

AIR
Air is intellectual, sociable, and open. The air signs experience the world through their minds, and they can overdo it more than the other signs. They love conversation for the mental stimulation, and this makes them the most sociable signs, as well as the most open. They can be too aloof or detached at times, and have a hard time with emotions. The air signs are Gemini, which is the most adaptable of the three; Libra, which is the most fair of the three; and Aquarius, which is the most inventive of the three.

WATER
Water is changeable, emotional, and sensitive. The water signs experience the world through their feelings, and they can have a hard time sifting through them properly, becoming overwhelmed by their emotions. They are the most sensitive of the signs, to their own problems and to other people’s. The water signs are Cancer, which is the most nurturing of the three; Scorpio, which is the most intense of the three; and Pisces, which is the most compassionate of the three.

CARDINAL
The cardinal signs are the ones who take action. They want to get things done, and desire a certain amount of independence and freedom to pursue their own goals. The cardinal signs are the ones that are at the beginning of the seasons, and usher in new periods, which is why they’re the ones who get things started. The cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.

FIXED
The fixed signs keep things the way that they are. They tend to be more stubborn and fixed in their ways, but also stable and grounded. They can focus on one thing in particular for some time, and this allows them to cultivate ideas, projects, and paths over time. The fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.

MUTABLE
The mutable signs are better able to change and adapt to new situations. They need to be flexible and have a certain amount of change in their lives. They don’t necessarily initiate the changes like the cardinal signs do, or fight the changes like the fixed signs do, but go with the flow. The mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces.

Angular, Succedent & Cadent

ANGULAR
The angular houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses, and are the houses that are ruled by the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Because of this, the angular houses are the action houses, and are how you get things going.

SUCCEDENT
The succedent houses are the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 11th houses, and are the houses that are ruled by the fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. Because of this, the succedent houses are the houses that show what happens after you take action and get into the grinding work.

CADENT
The cadent houses are the 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th houses, and are the houses that are ruled by the mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. Because of this, the cadent houses are the ones that show how you adapt to the action and work from the angular and succedent houses.
