Often, our intuition can be completely out of whack when we’re feeling emotionally insecure or unstable. Even when we feel we’re receiving intuitive messages and guidance, because we feel off emotionally, it can cause us to question it or to interpret it wrong. This makes it important to work on improving our emotional security and stability so we can be more sensitive to our intuition. The Moon is ruler of our emotions, so focusing on your Moon sign to see what you need to feel emotionally secure and stable. Strengthen Emotional Security by Moon Sign in Astrology:Fire sign Moons: Aries - Leo - Sagittarius
Aries Moon needs to be in charge, taking initiative, and doing something fun and new. You can thrive when you’re doing physical activities, and you love starting new projects and embarking on new journeys, and prefer to have a positive attitude. This is true of all of the fire sign Moons, which are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.
Sagittarius Moon can be the most positive, and tries to have an optimistic outlook. You need to be free to do your own thing, hating being fenced in, and want to expand your life and explore. Leo Moon focuses most on fun, and wants to enjoy life. You can be creative, and feel best when you’re expressing yourself creatively and have time to do what you love and be with who you love. Earth sign Moons: Taurus - Virgo - Capricorn
The earth signs (which are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) require the most stability in life to feel secure. Taurus Moon needs things to stay calm, steady, and doesn’t want to be pushed into anything. You can feel best when you’re in touch with nature or your body, or indulging.
Virgo Moon can be the most anxious of all signs, and requires more structure, order, and routine. You also need to not be hard on yourself, and let things slide off of your back more. Capricorn Moon can be the most ambitious, and you can feel best when you’re working toward something you care about, feeling like you have a purpose. Air sign Moons: Gemini - Libra - Aquarius
Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are the air signs, and these signs are sociable and engaging, so when you have any of these 3 as your Moon sign, you need to engage with others in order to feel secure emotionally.
Gemini Moon needs to be able to talk things out and share thoughts and opinions freely; Libra Moon needs to be able to have personal, one-on-one connections with people they respect and that are drama-free; and Aquarius Moon needs to constantly meet new people, expand their social network, and be open to experimentation. Water sign Moons: Cancer - Scorpio - Pisces
The water signs (which are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are naturally in tune with their emotions and with their intuitive energy, but they can be the most sensitive, so security and stability are ultra important.
For Cancer Moons, surround yourself with supportive people and nurture yourself; for Scorpio Moons, channel your passion into something productive, and make transformations throughout your life; and for Pisces Moons, protect yourself from deceitful people and embrace your imagination, compassion, and artistic side. Note on the Transit Moon:
In prediction, the transit (moving) Moon can influence our emotions and intuition as well. Both can be much higher around full moons, which pack more emotional energy. For each of us individually, we can be more in touch with our emotional and intuitive sides when the Moon is in our Sun, Moon, or Rising sign, or in our 1st or 12th houses.
Suggested Reading: Neptune & Intuition The basics: A retrograde occurs when a planet appears to be moving backwards from our vantage point here on Earth. It isn't actually moving backwards, it just appears that way. Mercury turns retrograde most often, about 3-4 times per year, and lasts for several weeks. When a planet retrogrades, what that planet rules tends to be thrown off, along with what the sign it's retrograding in rules. With Mercury retrograde, we experience a shadow and a storm. The shadow period starts when Mercury first hits the point in the Zodiac it will turn direct at, and ends when it last hits the point in the Zodiac it will turn retrograde at. Most people don't feel the effects of Mercury retrograde until it enters the storm period though. The storm period of Mercury retrograde is when Mercury is moving at its slowest, less than 40 minutes per day. Mercury is a fast-moving planet and hates it when he's moving slowly. There's usually two storm periods, one around the time Mercury turns retrograde, and one around when it turns direct. This Mercury retrograde begins on March 22nd at 2:34AM ET and ends on April 15th at 8:51PM ET. The shadow period is March 9th - May 3rd. The first storm period is March 18th - 29th, and second storm period is April 7th - 24th. Hello Mercury madness! The first Mercury retrograde for 2018 starts in March, and this retrograde occurs entirely in fiery Aries. Mercury retrograde in Aries can bring some hot-hot-hot energy, as Aries is a high energy fire and cardinal sign. We can be more impulsive, impatient, wanting to jump into things without thinking, and this can get us in hot water in a flash, or cause some unexpected problems because we didn't think things through. Or didn't think at all! It's important to not give in to the impulsive energy, but we can feel like if we don't jump right away, we'll miss out. A lot of FOMO, but it may not be reality. Breathe! Aries energy can be prone to accidents and injuries because of the impulsive energy, so we may see some extra accidents occurring around the world, especially with things where we didn't do our due diligence beforehand. Don't neglect the things that need maintenance! Aries is also one of the signs of war, so we may see some extra violence around the world, an uptick in uprising somewhere, particularly with Uranus at the end of his time in Aries (though not aligning with Mercury during this retrograde, thankfully). Uranus will be at a critical degree in Aries (26 degrees) March 2nd - 22nd, so just before this retrograde starts, and we may be heading into the retrograde with some extra rebellion. We do need to be mindful of our tempers, getting into fights and easily frustrated, and an outlet for energy can be key during this retrograde. Keep busy, and focus on something positive to direct the extra energy that can flare up. And be careful of what you say so you don't start a war! On the upside, the retrograde doesn't start or end making a hard aspect to any of the other planets, BUT the Moon isn't going to be playing nice! The retrograde kicks off with the Moon in one of the signs Mercury naturally rules, Gemini (March 22nd 1:30AM ET - March 24th 4:52AM ET), and we can feel really off as it begins. Communication in particular, anything with technology/electronics, and we need to watch what we say, do some more listening, and be mindful of the impact of our words. Then when the retrograde ends, the Moon will be in Aries, the sign the retrograde is occurring in (April 13th 11:26PM - April 16th 4:50AM ET), and a new moon occurs in Aries on the last day of the retrograde, April 15th (9:57PM ET). So we can close the retrograde with some extra heat, extra impulse, and extra anger that needs to be tempered, and extra energy that needs a healthy and positive outlet. The Moon will be in the other sign Mercury naturally rules, Virgo, March 28th (10:30AM ET) - 30th (1:52PM ET). This can be another little period during the retrograde when we may have a little extra struggle with the retrograde energy, and it may be focused more on daily lives, productivity, work, and the health of life. But the most difficult time may come just after that, with the second full moon of the month - yep, March comes with another blue moon! This time on March 31st in Libra, which is the sign opposite Aries, the sign the Mercury retrograde occurs in. The full moon will be opposite the Mercury retrograde (though a little wide), and square (hard aspect) Saturn in Capricorn (slightly wide square Mars in Capricorn too, though too wide to also be square Pluto, who is much later in Capricorn). That full moon is so jam-packed with energy that we need to be extra, extra careful with. We need to find a way to use the energy without letting anything blow up - which might be difficult to avoid! We're missing a little Cancer action, so we need to work on bringing in some Cancer energy, and be more nurturing, supportive, giving comfort, and strengthening foundations. We need to come together emotionally, as one big family, and not get so lost in all of the external noise. Mercury retrograde will be at a critical degree (13 degrees Aries) March 29th - 31st, and this may bring some difficult energy, and we may super impulsive, annoyed, and easily provoked. It goes into the Libra full moon, so that is really a hard time during this retrograde. Careful! This Mercury retrograde will make 3 major aspects during the retrograde. He'll square Mars in Capricorn on April 4th (3:05AM ET), and this can be a time of major anger, frustration, annoyance. Keep busy, but also be mindful of accident/injury energy (so careful!). Mercury will also square Saturn in Capricorn on April 5th (4:22AM ET), and we can feel stuck, confined, restricted, limited, and this can make us more frustrated and annoyed. Don't give in to impulse, and try to find some space within limitations to breathe. Mercury will conjunct (align with) the Sun on April 1st (1:53PM ET), called the inferior conjunction, and this can usually be a positive aspect providing an opportunity to start something. The retrograde begins at 16 degrees Aries, so those of you Aries born April 4th - 8th can feel the start of this retrograde most. The retrograde ends at 4 degrees Aries, so those of your Aries born March 23rd - 27th can feel the end of the retrograde most. For the rest of you, check the house(s) Mercury will be retrograding in of your own natal chart, and any aspects Mercury will make during its retrograde to your natal planets, to fully understand how it will impact you personally. If you have Mercury retrograde in your natal or progressed chart, you may not feel the worst of this. Those individuals generally don't experience the difficulties of the retrograde because it feels more natural to them. Of course, chances are everyone else around them doesn't have the same aspect, so they can still experience difficulties brought on by others. Aries March 2018 Monthly Horoscope Mercury enters your sign, Aries, on March 6th, and Venus also enters your sign on March 6th. You can be more open with your ideas and plans, enjoy getting attention from loved ones, and can be more charming and pleasant to be around. Your mind can be more active, and you can feel more creative and romantic. The Sun joins Mercury and Venus in Aries on March 20th, and you can be more comfortable getting attention, being in the spotlight, and enthusiastic about whatever you pursue. You can focus on your own wants and needs, and make yourself a priority. The month of March kicks off with a full moon in Virgo on the 1st at 8:52PM ET. Virgo is the sign of work, so we can focus on the work that needs to be done, the little things that have piled up, the tasks and chores that we have to get out of the way. This can be a time to finish projects, do some spring cleaning, and streamline daily lives and routines. We can work on eliminating bad habits that have adversely impacted our lifestyles or productivity, and we can focus on trying to manage stress better so we're not quite so stressed out. But, if we try to do too much, we might stress ourselves out worse! This full moon is opposite Neptune in Pisces, so we have to be careful with emotional sensitivity, vulnerability, and being easily taken advantage of. We may get lost in the fog, in illusion and delusion, and need to work hard to discern fantasy (Pisces/Neptune) from facts and reality (Virgo). The full moon occurs at 11 degrees 22 minutes Virgo. The major aspects to this full moon are: Conjunction: 9 degrees 22 minutes - 13 degrees 22 minutes Virgo Sextile: 9 degrees 22 minutes - 13 degrees 22 minutes Cancer or Scorpio Square: 9 degrees 22 minutes - 13 degrees 22 minutes Gemini or Sagittarius Trine: 9 degrees 22 minutes - 13 degrees 22 minutes Taurus or Capricorn Opposition: 9 degrees 22 minutes - 13 degrees 22 minutes Pisces March's new moon occurs in Pisces on March 17th at 9:12AM ET. With the Pisces new moon, we can be more compassionate and understanding, and do more for others who can't do for themselves. We can care for the voiceless and shine a light where we haven't been paying as much attention lately. We may connect more to our spiritual selves, our intuition, our subconscious minds, and to the subtle energies all around us. We can focus on our inner mystics, and work to heal ourselves and others, particularly with this new moon conjunct (aligned with) Chiron in Pisces. Chiron is the "wounded healer", representing our deepest wounds we need to heal from but also how we can heal and grow, so we may be focused on some sort of wound that we need to collectively heal from. We can be more sensitive at first, but this can lead to more focus and conversation about what we need to do. We just need to make sure we use a gentle touch and are sensitive to everyone's needs. Connecting to our spiritual selves can also be beneficial for helping us to heal, and we may need to address past issues or something that has been hidden from us that becomes revealed. Pisces is also the last sign of the Zodiac, so we may feel like we're at the end of some cycle, and can clean up, clear out, let go, and get ready for the new. The new moon occurs at 26 degrees 53 minutes Pisces. The major aspects to this new moon are: Conjunction: 24 degrees 53 minutes - 28 degrees 53 minutes Pisces Sextile: 24 degrees 53 minutes - 28 degrees 53 minutes Taurus or Capricorn Square: 24 degrees 53 minutes - 28 degrees 53 minutes Gemini or Sagittarius Trine: 24 degrees 53 minutes - 28 degrees 53 minutes Cancer or Scorpio Opposition: 24 degrees 53 minutes - 28 degrees 53 minutes Virgo March also comes with a second full moon! Another blue moon after the lunar eclipse blue moon in January. This full moon occurs on March 31st at 8:36AM ET in Libra. The Libra full moon often wants us to come together in compromising fashion, wanting us to keep the peace and be considerate of one another, mindful of equality and justice, and play fair. We can focus more on one another, on the important people in our lives, and how we impact one another. It can be a time to eliminate issues in relationships and partnerships to improve them, or to walk away from people or alliances that we feel no longer serve a positive purpose in our lives. The full moon in square (hard aspect, 3 signs away) Saturn in Capricorn, and opposite Mercury retrograde in Aries (though a tiny bit wide). So this full moon has some supercharged energy that we need to be conscious of managing, otherwise there may be some wonkiness ensuing! There may be some extra violence, some extra difficulties with governments, institutions, or politicians, and it can feel like we're getting dragged around by a drunk angry cat. Cancer is the sign that's missing, so we need to be more considerate emotionally, more supportive and nurturing, and remember that we're all one family. And maybe have extra ice cream! This full moon occurs at 10 degrees 44 minutes in Libra. The major aspects to this full moon are: Conjunction: 8 degrees 44 minutes - 12 degrees 44 minutes Libra Sextile: 8 degrees 44 minutes - 12 degrees 44 minutes Leo or Sagittarius Square: 8 degrees 44 minutes - 12 degrees 44 minutes Cancer or Capricorn Trine: 8 degrees 44 minutes - 12 degrees 44 minutes Gemini or Aquarius Opposition: 8 degrees 44 minutes - 12 degrees 44 minutes Aries Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for general interpretations Venus conjunct Mars gets a lot of attention wherever it pops up, whether it’s in transit, in the natal chart, in synastry, or in the composite chart. Why? It generates a lot of passion, intensity, friction, heat. It can be highly creative and full of energy, but it can be a little frustrating too. Venus conjunct Mars in the Natal Chart
When Venus conjuncts Mars in the natal chart, this tends to stimulate a very healthy sex drive in the native (maybe a little too healthy sometimes!), though the degree to which depends on the sign and house involved. It can also stimulate a creative soul, and can be a source of creative energy that can be tapped into.
Mars has a bad habit of overtaking Venus at times though, and so you’ll find many with this placement identify more with Mars than Venus, or come across in a more Mars-y way (more “masculine” or dominant). The trick with this position in the natal chart is to balance the energy of the two and not let Mars overtake Venus. Venus needs some say too! Venus conjunct Mars Transits
When transit Venus conjuncts natal Mars or transit Mars conjuncts natal Venus, this usually stimulates a few days where you have a higher sex drive, more passionate energy, or a more creative approach.
Again, this will largely depend on the location of the conjunction by sign and house. In the 3rd house, this may mean more mental energy and connection, while in Capricorn, this may mean more passion for goals and success. It’s important to use the energy with this transit though, otherwise you can get very grumpy and frustrated. Venus conjunct Mars in Synastry
In synastry, this means one of your Venuses conjuncts the other person’s Mars, and this is a standout maker for major attraction between two people (and the closer they are to being exactly conjunct, the stronger it can be). The attraction can be instant and the chemistry strong, so much that it can almost be difficult to stop (if say, you’re already with someone else).
When it’s an attraction you can act on (and has other healthy aspects to support it), it can keep the spark going much longer than usual. When you don’t want anything to happen, you may need to just stay apart though. Even if you don’t like each other, you may find that there’s still that chemistry there that can’t be denied, so go your separate ways. Venus conjunct Mars in the Composite Chart
With composite Venus conjunct composite Mars, this can be similar to the conjunction in synastry, but it’s generally felt more evenly between you, and can be something that bonds you together in a more harmonious way. You can find that together, you channel the passion between you easily through the sign and house location of Venus and Mars, and in a way that you don’t alone.
