January 2012 Full Moon in Cancer & New Moon in Aquarius January 2012 comes with a full moon in Cancer, the sign that naturally rules emotions and is ruled by the Moon, so our emotions are heightened with this full moon. There is also a new moon in Aquarius, sign of the different and future. Aquarius is more detached emotionally, so this gives us a chance to unwind. A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are exactly opposing one another in the zodiac. It tends to signal a time of endings, culminations, and things coming to fruition. A new moon occurs when the transit Sun and Moon are in the exact same spot in the zodiac, called a conjunction. It tends to signal a time of new opportunities, growth, and optimism. In astrology, you experience something called a Lunar Return, which is when the transit (moving) Moon returns to the exact position it was at when you were born. The Moon moves quickly, so you experience 1-2 Lunar Returns every month. The Moon rules your emotions, so your Lunar Return can show where your emotional focus is with that return. You can learn this from the Lunar Return Chart, which is the chart created for the moment of your Lunar Return. One of the positions you pay attention to in the Lunar Return chart is the Ascendant. This can show focus and seep into your personality a little bit. Lunar Return Chart Ascendant Signs:

In this article, we'll focus on what may be the hardest aspect. Yet it's one that isn't actually classified as an aspect! What are aspects in astrology?
In astrology, we have something called an aspect. An aspect is when two bodies are at specific distances from one another in the Zodiac. There are 360 degrees in the Zodiac, and when bodies are a certain amount of degrees apart, they are making an aspect.
Aspects are split between major and minor. The major aspects are said to have stronger energy than the minor ones, but that isn't *always* the case. The major aspects are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition, so there are only five major aspects. But there are way more minor aspects! Like a couple dozen. The most commonly used of the minor aspects are semisextiles and quincunxes (or inconjuncts). These two are more like halfway between major and minor though. The minor aspects can be very strong in your natal chart. They don't have as much juice in predictive analysis (transits). But they can be important in your natal chart. Two of the minor aspects are the quinqueundecim and the quindecile. The quinqueundecim is when two bodies are 163 degrees apart, and the quindecile is when two bodies are 165 degrees apart. For minor aspects, you usually only consider an orb of influence (amount of degrees it can be from exact) of less than 2 degrees, sometimes 1 degree. This means if you have two bodies 164 degrees apart, they are making BOTH the quinqueundecim and quindecile aspects. 164 Degrees in Astrology: The Hardest Angle
Why am I highlighting this? Because this could possibly be the most difficult of all positions to have two points at, especially two personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars).
A lot of attention is paid to the quindecile as being an incredibly difficult aspect, but having your planets 164 degrees apart means you also have to deal with the quinqueundecim, an overlooked aspect that isn't any kind of walk in the park. This can be the absolute most difficult when it's your Sun and Moon that are 164 degrees apart. The aspect your Sun and Moon make can have a huge impact on you as a person because your Sun is your true self while the Moon is your emotional self. They're a little ego (Sun) and id (Moon). If they're at a harsh angle, you have difficulty working with the two harmoniously. With the quindecile, you'll see the word "unrelenting" used a lot. It's obsessive. It's like Scorpio on steroids. But it's got a focus - unfortunately, when it's your Sun and Moon the focus is all on you, and that'll drive you bonkers. With the quinqueundecim, especially between the personal planets, it shows someone who had some sort of disruption or was removed from society for some time and they must forgive, transform themselves, and help others with their experience. It'll just usually take a while to get there. A lot of people who wind up in relationships where they are trapped, who have parents who controlled their whole lives, or who suffer from accidents/illness that leave them confined have a prominent quinqueundecim. The Way Out
Just because you have two points at difficult aspect to one another doesn't mean it's the end of the world. You can use the midpoint of those two points to use the energy positively so there isn't so much of a war, which is the exact middle in the Zodiac those two are apart.
Midpoints show how the energy of the two bodies merge naturally, so when you focus on their midpoint, you can find a way around the hard energy. Pay attention to those midpoints and you'll have a much easier job using your chart to your advantage! And this is especially the case if you have any planets 164 degrees apart. Find their midpoint! ARIES You may have the energy to get everything done on your list in December. Uranus turns direct in your sign on the 13th, hopefully ending the unpleasant suprises that have been cropping up, and letting you make changes you need to make. Watch for possible low energy the 2nd and a short temper the 4th. The 5th could be good for romance, and the 17th may find you most in touch with your emotions. The aspect the natal Sun and Moon make is crucial. It shows how well your ego (Sun) and emotions (Moon) work together. Some say this is the most important aspect in your chart. So you definitely want to pay attention to it! The Sun is who you truly are, the you that comes out with those you know best and when you're comfortable. The Moon is your emotional self, how you react emotionally and what you need for emotional stability and security. They are considered a part of the triad (along with your Ascendant, the outer self), which is the foundation for who you are in astrology. Natal Sun & Moon Aspects
In a conjunction (less than 10 degrees apart), you're usually someone who has no problem showing their emotional state, and sometimes you can be almost too emotional. A conjunction shows you were born on a New Moon, and this can make you a more dynamic personality.
In a sextile (60 degrees) or trine (120 degrees), your Sun and Moon work well together, understanding one another well. Sextiles and trines are the easy, beneficial major aspects, so when you have this, it's very nice! A semisextile (30 degrees) tends to be mostly beneficial, but you'll need to learn to adapt to situations or suffer from vacillation. In a square (90 degrees), opposition (180 degrees), semisquare (45 degrees), sesquiquadrate (135 degrees), and quincunx (150 degrees), these are the hard aspects, so the planets don't work together as well, and there's usually internal conflict for the person since they're usually at war with themselves inside. If you were born with them opposite, that also means you were born on a Full Moon, and this can make you at the mercy of your emotional ebbs and flows sometimes. In the lesser-known minor aspects: - quintiles (18 degrees, 36 degrees, 72 degrees, 108 degrees, 144 degrees) tend to show you present yourself best creatively - septiles (51 degrees, 102 degrees, 154 degrees) have a little more friction, so they can show how you are inspired - noviles (40 degrees, 80 degrees, 160 degrees) tend to be positive, light, but needing some more courage - undecims/undeciles (32 degrees, 65 degrees, 98 degrees, 130 degrees, 163 degrees) tend to show someone who engages in fantasy, is socially conscious, and feels there's something missing - a squine (105 degrees) is halfway between a square and a trine, and shows someone who lets blocks lead to laziness or laziness lead to blocks and holds themselves back - a quindecile (165 degrees) shows someone who is incredibly disruptive to themselves (check out the 164 Degree Aspect article for more on quindeciles and an undecim) Am I screwed if my Sun and Moon are at a hard angle?
If you have your Sun and Moon at a difficult aspect to one another, that doesn't mean you're screwed for life. You can use midpoints to help rectify any difficult aspect between two planets.
A midpoint is literally the exact middle of two points. In astrology, it shows how you can mesh the energy of those two points together to get them working harmoniously. If you have your Sun and Moon at a difficult aspect, just check out your Sun-Moon midpoint. The sign it's in, the house it falls in, and any planets on it will help you to see how you can make the best of a difficult aspect. Astrology always offers a way out!
