The Lunar Nodes have been in the signs of Taurus (North Node) and Scorpio (South Node), and are on the move, pushing into Aries (North Node) and Libra (South Node) starting next week for 1 1/2 years. What does this have in store for us? What are the Lunar Nodes?
The Lunar Nodes are the points in the Moon's orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic. There's a North Node and a South Node, and they exactly oppose one another in the Zodiac.
In the natal chart, the North Node represents your potential and where you can find ultimate life satisfaction and fulfillment, but it's unfamiliar and uncomfortable, so we tend to shy away from it until we get older and grow into it. In the natal chart, the South Node represents your past, your baggage (early life and karmic), and shows your bad habits and emotional crutches during times of upset. We tend to gravitate toward the South Node when young because it's comfortable, but ultimately we need to learn to stop that. The transit (moving) Lunar Nodes can show where we all need to grow and move into with the North Node, and what baggage we need to let go of and bad habits we need to break with the South Node. There are two calculations for the Lunar Nodes, Mean Nodes (which is the averaged out position) and True Nodes (which is the exact position). They're always pretty close together (usually no more than 1-2 degrees apart). North Node in Aries & South Node in Libra Dates:
About South Node in Libra:
The Libra South Node is not as intense as the Scorpio South Node, so that can be a bit of a relief. It can feel less daunting dealing with the Libra South Node, though there are still lessons that have to be worked on, and they likely focus on our relationships and connections (for you personally, that may focus on the houses in your natal chart in Libra or any natal Libra planets).
We may need to learn how to connect in healthy ways, and to release old issues around balance, compromise, and equality. If you're a doormat, that gets amplified as an issue; if you're a people pleaser, that has to change; if you compromise yourself too much for others, that needs to stop. On a larger scale, we'll likely see more attention being paid to issues around equality and the law (Libra is ruler of justice). We may be more concerned with ensuring this for more people, and we may have to face ways we've failed at this in the past. While in Libra, the South Node will conjunct (align with) Ceres on September 4th 2023 at 25 degrees (True) and September 7th 2023 at 25 degrees (Mean). Ceres is a dwarf planet ruling nourishment, support, and resources, and this comes after Ceres was retrograde (appearing to move backward) in Libra earlier in 2023. South Node conjunct Ceres in Libra may bring out issues in our relationships, connections, alliances, compromises, and negotiations we need to work on. If they've been out of balance, unfair or unjust in some way, the South Node can make this a big issue. We need to work on the root of the problems to create more supportive connections for all involved. There may also be something regarding resources (especially physical items or money) that involves connections that is prominent around this time, like a lawsuit. About North Node in Aries:
The Aries North Node is all about action. Aries is the first Zodiac sign, it's a fire sign and a cardinal sign, and it's ruled by active Mars. This is the sign that takes action and takes the initiative, and doesn't need to wait for permission, so with the North Node in Aries, we have to learn to do just that. Act now!
Aries is new beginnings, new journeys, and new ventures, so we may need to be willing to go down a new path in our lives. This can be a little scary, but ultimately exciting. We can take charge and go forth boldly. Aries is also highly confident and focused on the self, so we should try to give more attention to ourselves with the North Node in Aries. It's okay to make ourselves a priority, to take care of our own needs, and to pursue our own dreams. The North Node in Aries will conjunct White Moon Selena on October 9th 2023 at 24 degrees (True) and October 11th 2023 at 25 degrees (Mean). White Moon Selena is a positive position in astrology, a protector who lights the way for us, so this can really help us get on that new path that we're inspired to get on. We can feel guided and protected as we go forward, and excited about what's possible. The North Node in Aries will also conjunct Chiron on February 19th 2024 at 16 degrees (True) and March 5th 2024 at 17 degrees (Mean). Chiron is the wounded healer in astrology, and governs our greatest wounds, but also how we can heal and grow. The North Node conjunct Chiron means we have major potential for this! We may embrace our inner healers, and work on healing ourselves and others. This healing may be most focused on identity issues and ego wounds with Aries, which have been a focus since Chiron has been in Aries. We need to acknowledge the identities of others, and allow ourselves to be true to who we really are (this will probably be important for trans activism). This can also be a big time for health since Chiron is a health ruler, and we may focus more on trying to get healthier overall. Chiron in Aries has prompted people to be more proactive with their health (though this has been both good and bad), and that can be amplified with the North Node conjunct Chiron. Merge Both Lunar Nodes!
Ultimately with the Lunar Nodes, we need to merge both of them in positive, healthy ways. With the South Node in Libra and North Node in Aries, we need to find balance between the self and others, between what is best for me and best for all, and between what I want and what we all want.
It's a delicate balance to strike, finding a way to acknowledge our individuality and autonomy while recognizing we are not an island and have to survive together. Aries and Libra are just the signs to get that point across! Suggested Reading: Identifying Baggage With South Node Astrology Comments are closed.
