Venus is the planet of love and affection. Venus likes to make things easy and helps us get along. This can be especially helpful in composite charts, and we can really come together thanks to Venus. What is a composite chart?
A composite chart takes the natal charts of two people and merges them together to create a brand new chart. This is the composite chart, and it's seen as the chart for the relationship itself. The relationship itself is almost seen as another entity in the relationship, and the composite chart is used in relationship analysis.
The composite chart can often explain why two people who seem really different end up coming together really well - because they have a strong composite chart. Or the reverse, the composite chart can often explain why two people who seem tailor made for each other just don't connect - because they have a difficult composite chart. Composite Venus in Astrology
When it comes to love relationships, Venus is one of the most important planets since this planet rules love and affection. In the composite chart, the location of composite Venus can show how and where you're affectionate, and how and where there is ease in the relationship.
Composite Venus can perform best when it's in the composite 1st house, making you have an easy time with each other and show a lot of affection for one another. Composite Venus in the composite 3rd house can be helpful for great communication between you. Composite Venus in the composite 5th house can be great for love and romance. A strong composite Venus can help make for a strong connection and relationship. Venus may be strong in the composite chart if it's: - conjunct (aligned with) the composite Sun, Moon, Rising, or 1st house ruler - sextile or trine the composite Ascendant - part of a stellium - in the sign of the composite North Node - conjunct, sextile or trine composite Jupiter Those are all beneficial positions. Composite Venus may be strong but challenging if it's anaretic, at 29 degrees of any Zodiac sign. This has the potential to be positive, but may be extremely challenging initially until you work through the high energy associated with it. The relationship may feel like it's on the brink constantly until then. Composite Venus may be strong when it's conjunct Saturn, Uranus, or Pluto, but this can be challenging if the other planet dominates Venus. Saturn might make the relationship feel too restrictive; Uranus might make the relationship feel too erratic; and Pluto might make the relationship be a constant struggle over power. These have to be addressed for the relationship to stand a chance. Composite Venus generally doesn't do very well in the composite 12th house, since this house hides energy, and you may struggle with expressing your feelings for one another, so it never really gets off of the ground. Composite Venus conjunct, square, or opposite composite Neptune can also be difficult since Neptune is soulful but foggy, so there may seem to be an extra strong soul connection between you, an inexplicable magnetism, yet you just can't seem to make it stick and it keeps slipping between your fingers, never fully in your grasp. Suggested Reading: Chiron in the Composite Chart There have been so many changes in the last 2 years in the world, and one we've been hearing a lot about it how so many people are leaving working for someone else and deciding to work for themselves. So what can show you doing this astrologically? Self-Employment in the Natal Chart
In your natal chart, some positions that may show you being self-employed at some point are:
- the 2nd, 6th, or 10th house cusps in Aries, Sagittarius, or Aquarius - the 2nd, 6th, or 10th house rulers in Aries, Sagittarius, or Aquarius - the 2nd, 6th, or 10th house rulers conjunct (aligned with) Mars, Jupiter, or Uranus - Mars, Jupiter, or Uranus in the 2nd, 6th, or 10th houses - Saturn in the 1st or 11th houses, or Aries or Aquarius - Saturn conjunct, sextile, or trine Mars, Jupiter, or Uranus The 2nd house is the house of money, showing how you make money, the 6th house is the house of work, showing the kind of jobs you work and work environment you need; and the 10th house is the house of career, showing what kind of career you need. Meanwhile Aries, Sagittarius, and Aquarius are the most independent of the Zodiac signs, so when they are present with your professional houses, this can show you wanting or needing to work independently (on your own!). Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus connect with Aries, Sagittarius, and Aquarius since Mars is ruler of Aries, Jupiter is ruler of Sagittarius, and Uranus is ruler of Aquarius. This is why if they're involved with the 2nd, 6th, or 10th houses, this can also show working for yourself. Saturn is the natural ruler of career, and in the 1st house, may show you're someone who can work on your own (since the 1st house rules the self). Aries naturally connects to the 1st house. In the 11th house, this naturally connects to Aquarius and Uranus. Aries is the pioneer, Sagittarius is the entrepreneur, and Aquarius is the inventor. Aquarius and Uranus can also show you may not only work for yourself, but online in some capacity since they rule the internet. They may impact the professional houses or your natal Saturn in some way. Transits for Self-Employment
The best times to start working for yourself will usually come with transit (moving) Mars, the planet of energy and drive, Jupiter, the planet of expansion and opportunity, or solar eclipses, which trigger new beginnings, in your professional houses, or in the 1st house (ruling new beginnings and taking initiative).
Mercury retrogrades can also trigger this sometimes when you get fed up with what you're doing and decide to break free and change it. It can be a little less smooth under Mercury retrograde, but ultimately can work out. There may also sometimes be transit Uranus aspects to your natal 2nd, 6th, or 10th house cusps or ruler, or to your natal Sun, Moon, or Ascendant. This is because Uranus is the planet of change, and can really push you to make the change needed. This can be the case under any aspect, including the hard ones. Pluto rules transformation, power, and control. Whatever transit (moving) Pluto is touching in your natal chart, this is an area where you may be experiencing major transformations, fighting over power, and taking control.
Your natal Pluto can show where you may experience this your entire life, and may encounter lots of power struggles, yet also have the capacity for great power. Transit Pluto shows where this is focused at the moment, and aspects can show if this is challenging or easy. Hard Pluto aspects (conjunction, square, opposition) can be some of the hardest aspects to endure, since Pluto digs up what's hidden underneath the surface and brings to light whatever we've been running from. These aspects tend to be face-your-demons aspects, and you either do it and transform, or you don't and Pluto makes it worse for you. Pluto Activation in 2022
So, coming into 2022, Venus is retrograde in Capricorn until January 29th. This began December 19th 2021, and it started with Venus conjunct (aligned with) Pluto. This kicked off major energy for transformations, and we've already begun to see how we need to transform, what we need to face, and what we've been running from.
Dwarf planet Ceres ended its retrograde on January 14th trine Pluto, which is a beneficial aspect, so midmonth, we've been feeling like it's a little easier to take control with what we need for safety and security, and we can transform the way we nourish ourselves. This can make us feel empowered right now. Mercury retrograde ends February 3rd conjunct Pluto, and this brings more attention to what we need to transform. We may be fighting over power and control, and transformation may be the way out instead. The final Mercury retrograde of 2022 starts December 29th conjunct Pluto, and what we may see coming out of the current Mercury retrograde may pop up again at the end of the year, and we can focus more on transformation. The next two Mercury retrogrades end trine Pluto (June 3rd and October 2nd). This makes it easier to work on positive transformations for the better coming out of those retrogrades. Mars tours Capricorn, the sign Pluto is in, January 24th to March 6th, and is conjunct Pluto on March 3rd. This can give lots of energy and drive to transform, and we can feel more powerful and in control. Passionate energy can be strong, and we can do more with it. This is also the last full year Pluto will be in Capricorn as it begins to move into Aquarius in 2023. This means 2022 may be your last chance to work with the Pluto in Capricorn energy. This started over a decade ago, and transformations that began back then may be coming to a close this year. It's the final chapter closing, in many ways, and we can look back and see how much we've changed in this time. Suggested Reading: Surviving Transit Pluto in the Houses We're in Mercury retrograde at the time this article is published, and we'll have 4 total in 2022. 3 of the 4 Mercury retrogrades will feature Mercury at the anaretic degree, and this is big energy for us all. What is Mercury retrograde?
A planet or body is called retrograde in astrology when it appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac from our view here on Earth. It's not actually, but just looks that way. Normal motion is forward, so this tends to throw things off with whatever the planet or body rules, and it can operate in reverse.
Mercury retrogrades most often of all of the planets, turning retrograde 3-4 times every year for a few weeks at a time. Mercury rules communication and is a tech ruler, so it tends to throw a LOT off in our modern world when we're under a Mercury retrograde. What is the anaretic degree?
The anaretic degree is 29 degrees of any Zodiac sign. Each sign is made up of 30 degrees, so the 29th degree is the very last degree. This creates crisis energy when the transit (moving) planets come to this position.
Usually, the come to this position moving forward, so they're gearing up to leave one Zodiac sign and enter a new one. This means we're feeling rushed to get things done while we feel we still have a chance (before the planet changes sign). It's a little different when the planet is retrograde, because it's moving from one sign to the previous instead of the next. This seems to make the energy even stronger, and almost haphazard, like it doesn't know what it wants to do, because it's not moving forward to a new sign, and instead going backward. Anaretic Mercury Retrogrades of 2022:
In 2022, Mercury retrograde will be anaretic 3 times. The first is January 25th and 26th in Capricorn. That retrograde began in Aquarius, and Mercury moves into Capricorn and is anaretic. In Capricorn, this might bring out intense challenges with our goals, our direction, authority figures, and responsibilities. We may be more overwhelmed, and need to take a step back. We're likely putting too much pressure on ourselves, and need to take some of that pressure off in a healthy way.
The second time Mercury retrograde is anaretic in 2022 is May 22nd to 24th in Taurus. That retrograde starts with Mercury in Gemini, and Mercury moves into Taurus and is anaretic. In Taurus, this can make us extra frustrated and annoyed, and we can feel extra stuck. We may lash out because of this, and that can make things worse. We may be so stubborn we don't see things clearly, and we need to be more objective about situations. The final time Mercury retrograde is anaretic in 2022 is September 23rd and 24th in Virgo. That retrograde starts with Mercury in Libra, and Mercury moves into Virgo and is anaretic. In Virgo, we can be super stressed out and anxious, and have too much that we're taking on. We may have a million things to do and burn ourselves out to do them. This can lead to breakdowns, and we need to go easier on ourselves. We may demand perfection, but this just sets us up for failure and disappointment. Virgo also rules health, so we may not be very healthy at this point. When Mercury retrograde is anaretic, it's important to make use of the energy as best as you can. It often just needs a productive, positive outlet. On a personal level, you may focus the energy on the areas of life ruled by the houses in your natal chart Mercury retrograde will be anaretic in (so the houses where 29 degrees Capricorn, 29 degrees Taurus, and 29 degrees Virgo fall). February 2022 brings with it a new moon in Aquarius early (it may be January 31st depending on your time zone), and then a full moon in Leo. Let's dive in! What is a New Moon?
A new moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact same position in the Zodiac (called a conjunction). New moons are related to beginnings, have high energy, and are enthusiastic.
What is a Full Moon?
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). Full moons are related to endings, culminations, and are emotional energy.
New Moon in Aquarius: February 1st 2022 @ 12:45AM ET/January 31st 2022 @ 9:45PM PT
The Aquarius new moon is an excellent time to focus on the future, and try to work toward your dreams. This is the manifestation new moon, and we're hopeful and thinking about new ways to make our dreams come true.
Venus ends its retrograde (appearing to move backward) on January 29th, right before this new moon, and Mercury ends its retrograde on February 3rd, right after the new moon. There may be some feeling of slowing around this new moon because of it, and we're cautious about what to do next. We may need to revise our plans, or scrap them altogether, and what we've been thinking thus far may change. Be flexible! Aquarius is the sign of change, so we may set goals to change something for the better now. Aquarius is innovative and inventive and unconventional, so we may come up with brand new ways we've never tried before to make things happen. And Aquarius is independent, so we may go about doing this on our own, or in our own way. Aquarius rules groups as well, so we may want to come together now. Coming out of Venus retrograde, which likely threw off our connections, the Aquarius energy can give us some objectivity and come together as friends. The new moon occurs at 12 degrees 20 minutes in Aquarius. The aspects to this new moon are: Conjunction: 10 degrees 20 minutes - 14 degrees 20 minutes Aquarius Sextile: 10 degrees 20 minutes - 14 degrees 20 minutes Aries or Sagittarius Square: 10 degrees 20 minutes - 14 degrees 20 minutes Taurus or Scorpio Trine: 10 degrees 20 minutes - 14 degrees 20 minutes Gemini or Libra Opposition: 10 degrees 20 minutes - 14 degrees 20 minutes Leo Full Moon in Leo: February 16th 2022 @ 11:57AM ET/8:57AM PT
The Leo full moon can be a very nice full moon, since Leo wants to be positive and creative. Instead of being so caught up in our emotions that we can't see straight, we're focusing on the good and trying to be positive, even when things are difficult.
Being creative can be super helpful, and this can be a great way to channel emotions and use them productively. We can feel more inspired more easily, and this can push us to create in some way. Leo rules our children and our inner child, so this would be a great time to reconnect with both, though your actual children may be more rebellious with this full moon than your inner child. Make sure you're giving them the ability to be themselves, and give them the attention they may require. We all likely need more attention from those we love, and seek our more praise and acceptance. We can feel super confident when we have that, but may be extra hard on ourselves when we don't. We need to make sure we have a healthy support system in our lives, but also have the ability to support ourselves. Leo is also love, so a Leo full moon can be great for solidifying love relationships and connections. If you're in a new relationship, you may want to make it serious, and if you're in a serious relationship, you may want to do something to show that. If single, you may feel more romantic and open to new love, though this can also be channeled creatively instead. The full moon occurs at 28 degrees 0 minutes Leo. The aspects to this full moon are: Conjunction: 26 degrees 0 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Leo Sextile: 26 degrees 0 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Gemini or Libra Square: 26 degrees 0 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Taurus or Scorpio Trine: 26 degrees 0 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Aries or Sagittarius Opposition: 26 degrees 0 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Aquarius Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for general interpretations Uranus ends its retrograde in 6 days in Taurus, and we're in a period now where a lot of planets are starting or ending a retrograde. Energy is swirling now, so we need to be informed! Uranus in Astrology
In astrology, Uranus is the planet of change and the unexpected. This planet likes to shake things up and keeps us on our toes. It doesn't want anything to stay exactly the same, because it knows we learn more when we change with the future. Onward!
In your natal chart, the position of you natal Uranus can show where in your life you can experience lots of change, how you create change, and where you need things to be different and unexpected. Transit (moving) Uranus can bring changes to the areas of life ruled by the house it's touring in your natal chart, and aspects Uranus makes to your natal planets can show how and where you can expect the unexpected. Sometimes this is great but sometimes it does throw you! What direct in astrology means
When a planet appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac, it's called retrograde. Normal motion is forward motion, so this can throw the energy of the planet off.
When the planet is no longer moving retrograde, it's now direct. It's getting ready to move forward, and it can hover in about the same spot for a little while first, which is called stationing. It's gearing up to change its direction. Uranus Direct 2022:
Uranus ends its retrograde on January 18th 2022, and this occurs in Taurus. Uranus retrograde likes to slow change down and make us more restless, and frustration was likely huge in Taurus. With Uranus moving forward again soon, this can shift, and we can work on new changes.
The Uranus direct comes 11 days before Venus direct comes (January 29th), and they are trine one another (a beneficial aspect) very close (but not actually exact). Change may be in the air in our relationships and dealings with others, and we may bring new, different people into our lives. This can be good for reconnecting with friends and expanding your social circle. Uranus direct is also square, which is a hard aspect, transit Mercury, who turns retrograde a few days before on January 14th (this also isn't exact though). Uranus square Mercury might bring challenges with mental focus, and we may jump from one idea to the next. We may need to work on using mental energy productively and not giving in to impulse. The Uranus direct 2021 can impact you most in the areas of life ruled by the house in your natal chart it occurs in, and is strongest if it aspects any of your natal planets. The Uranus direct occurs at 10 degrees 49 minutes Taurus, so the aspects are: Conjunction: 7 degrees 49 minutes - 13 degrees 49 minutes Taurus Sextile: 7 degrees 49 minutes - 13 degrees 49 minutes Cancer or Pisces Square: 7 degrees 49 minutes - 13 degrees 49 minutes Leo or Aquarius Trine: 7 degrees 49 minutes - 13 degrees 49 minutes Virgo or Capricorn Opposition: 7 degrees 49 minutes - 13 degrees 49 minutes Scorpio If sextile or trine any of your natal planets, this can be beneficial energy for taking control of changes you want made, and being open to the unconventional. If square or opposite any of your natal planets, this can be challenging energy for change, and there may be unexpected changes that you don't like or you may want changes that can't happen yet. Try to be patient and take things in stride. If conjunct any of your natal planets, this can bring major energy for change with whatever that planet rules, and you need to put together plans for action to take control of the changes so they don't control you.
