Saturn is the planet of limitation and restriction, but also rules your career and goals. This gives Saturn a direct link to your professional life, which can in turn impact you financially. But with Saturn being the planet of limitation and restriction, it may not seem like a good thing. Does Saturn give wealth, or take it away? What's the energy of transit Saturn?
Transit (moving) Saturn tours through the Zodiac in an average of 30 years (28-32). The house where transit Saturn is currently located shows areas of life where you may have lessons to learn, have to take things seriously, and have to do the right thing at all times. When you don't, you get punished, and when you do, you can experience rewards, but usually after some time has passed.
Aspects by transit Saturn to your natal planets can show areas where you have to bring that energy, and you may find this easy and have stability with the easy aspects (sextiles and trines), or find this challenging and have way more work to do with the hard aspects (conjunctions, squares, and oppositions). What's the purpose of natal Saturn?
In your natal chart, the sign and house position of your natal Saturn can show areas of life where you have your biggest life lessons to learn. This usually comes to a head when you experience your first Saturn Return, which is when transit Saturn returns to the exact same position as your natal Saturn, conjuncting it.
You likely have to work harder and smarter with the areas of life governed by the sign and house placement of your natal Saturn. This can also be the case with any natal planets it's aspecting, especially conjuncting. So, does Saturn give wealth or take it away?
If transit Saturn is aspecting your 2nd house cusp or ruler (which is the house of money), this can have an impact on you financially. Sextiles and trines can show a stable period financially, while conjunctions, squares, and oppositions can show a time when you have to be really cautious financially and have a super save, no spend mentality.
If you haven't been wise with your financial decisions, then a hard aspect by transit Saturn to the 2nd house cusp or ruler can make it worse, and you have to dig yourself out by doing things the right way at all times financially. Transit Saturn in your 2nd house is a notorious time for making you feel like you have less, and you very well may, however it's quite often just a *feeling* of not having enough, rather than *actually* not having enough. This can be strongest at the onset, when Saturn first enters your 2nd house. his lasts for about 2-3 years, and you have to be very smart with your financial choices during this time. Once it's over, you can experience great financial rewards, and this can be one instance in which Saturn does give wealth (though maybe not super riches!). In your natal Saturn, Saturn can have influence over your money if aspecting the 2nd house cusp or ruler, or located in the 2nd house. If your natal Saturn is sextile or trine your 2nd house cusp or ruler, this can be helpful for stable financial energy. You may find it's easier for you to improve your finances as needed and to make solid financial decisions. You may be someone who always seems to know how to take care of yourself financially and make productive use of your resources. If your natal Saturn is square your natal 2nd house cusp or ruler, or opposite your natal 2nd house ruler, you may find you struggle at times to have what you need. You may have experienced major financial issues growing up, and this can lead you to always worry about money, even if you have plenty of it as an adult. You can make bad financial decisions when you're not paying close attention and doing lots of homework, and this can have long-term consequences. At the same time, you may be miserly and hoard as much as you can. Neither of these are good options, and you do need to be extra smart and think long-term with your money, but you also need to find a healthy place with that, not one of impulse-driven decisions that lead to big problems, or fear-driven decisions that lead to being a Scrooge. If your natal Saturn is conjunct your 2nd house ruler or located in your 2nd house, you really have to be Saturn when it comes to your money. Be smart, make plans, do homework, and always think long-term. You may struggle with money until your first Saturn Return (around 28-32), and can get more financially secure with age. This can lead to great financial security in your golden years (so Saturn can give wealth when you're old, in this case). But again, you need to do it right so there's no punishment. You may also find that what you do to make money is ruled by Saturn (so perhaps something in politics, the government, where you're the boss, etc.), and this can lead Saturn to give wealth down the line. Suggested Reading: Jupiter-Pluto & Wealth Astrology can be used for many things in life, and one question many can wonder is it's influence on money. Using your natal chart, or looking at transits, is there anything that can indicate experiencing massive wealth in astrology? The Money Areas: 2nd & 8th Houses and Ceres
First, you have to look at the money areas of your natal chart, which are the 2nd and 8th houses. The 2nd house rules your own money and your own resources, while the 8th house rules money that's shared or earned with others and shared resources. This is first seen with the signs on the cusp of these houses, and with any planets in the house, and then the location and aspects of their respective rulers.
Ceres is also a position I use now for financial matters. Ceres is a dwarf planet (like Pluto) and some believe it's the ruler of Taurus instead of Venus. Taurus and Venus naturally connect to the 2nd house, so it would make sense for Ceres to influence money. You can look to the sign and house location of your natal Ceres, and aspects it makes to your natal planets. Massive wealth in astrology: Inheritance
If it's wealth passed down from your family, you'll likely see planets in the 8th house (since it's other people's money coming to you), Pluto (natural ruler of the 8th house) in the 2nd house, Scorpio (naturally connects to the 8th house) on the 2nd house cusp, or Ceres or the 2nd house ruler conjunct Pluto, in the 8th house, or in Scorpio.
There will usually be a tie to the 4th house or Moon as well (which rules your family), like Ceres or the 2nd house ruler in the 4th house, the Moon aspecting the 2nd house cusp or ruler or Ceres, the Moon in Scorpio or the 8th house, or the 4th house cusp or ruler aspecting the 2nd house cusp or ruler, Ceres, in the 8th house, in Scorpio, or aspecting the 8th house cusp, ruler, or Pluto. Massive wealth in astrology: Your Own Work
If it's something you earn through your own work and career, then you can see involvement with Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter expands, and Saturn rewards after long periods of smart, hard work. They may be located in the 2nd house, aspect the 2nd house cusp or ruler, in Taurus, or aspect your Ceres.
This can also come with your natal Jupiter in aspect to your natal Pluto, and this is one instance where hard aspects are best! Jupiter conjunct, square, or opposite your Pluto can be great indicators of creating wealth at some point in your life thanks to the expansive energy and Jupiter and the unrelenting passionate energy of Pluto. Another more unusual indicator is planets at 29 degrees, which is the anaretic degree, the very last degree of any sign. Usually, when you have a natal planet at this degree, you struggle with the energy of it, overusing it or not using it at all. But there is so much potential with a planet at the anaretic degree because it's full of so much strong energy, that once you do get control of it, you can create incredible opportunities for yourself (and things like lots of money, if that's an inclination). This can also come with the 2nd or 10th house cusps at 29 degrees. Massive wealth in astrology: Windfalls
If it's a sudden windfall type of thing, like winning the lottery or hitting big at a casino, then you usually see involvement with Uranus and the 5th house. The 5th house specifically rules gambling, so money won through gambling of any kind would be shown with the 5th house (planets in the 5th house, the 5th house ruler in the 2nd house, in Taurus, aspecting the 2nd house ruler or cusp or Ceres).
Money that comes suddenly and unexpectedly is Uranus. Uranus is the planet of the sudden and unexpected, so you'll usually see Uranus in play for there to be a chance of this happening (in the 2nd house, aspecting the 2nd house cusp, ruler, or Ceres). What about WHEN the money comes?
You can have some of this in your natal chart, but it usually doesn't just happen on its own - you have to experience a trigger by the transit (moving) planets. When they make an aspect to any of the positions in your chart, they can set off events that lead to the creation of massive wealth for you. Until then, you kinda have to be patient!

This means that wherever you have Gemini in your natal chart, that area is one where you may find you're split in two. You have "two" in some way - sometimes very literally! About Gemini:
Gemini is an air sign, along with Libra and Aquarius. The air signs are the signs of the mind, intellectual and sociable, and aware of the moving times. These signs can weigh options and have varied opinions.
Gemini is also a mutable sign, along with Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. The mutable signs are the ones that flow. They ebb and flow, come and go. They're highly adaptable and flexible, so they can start one way and go another very easily. Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury, who is always going, always thinking, always on the move. Mercury is a fast planet who can cover lots of terrain, and this helps Gemini to manage its dual nature. So, Gemini is a sign that is moving constantly, has varied perspectives, and has a strong dual nature. The areas of life ruled by the house in your natal chart that falls in Gemini gets this energy. Today's article comes from guest, Tirra-Omilade Hargrow! She's a spiritual guide, life coach, certified hypnotherapist, and twice initiated as a priestess into African and goddess spiritual traditions. Get started with goddess Oshun with this article, and then go grab her class on Oshun for more!
There is an ancient spiritual tradition called Ifa that comes from Nigeria, West Africa. It is a religion that eventually traveled over with the African captives sold into slavery in the West, such as Brazil, the Caribbean Islands, and the United States.
As a result, Ifa is very popular among people of African descent, though it is an international religion. One of its signature hallmarks is the deities, known as Orisha. Orisha are forces of nature that also provide wisdom and guidance for spiritual aspirants. There are male and female deities, some of which have a cult following. One such Orisha is the goddess, Oshun. She is highly feminine and creative, sensual and abundant and beautiful and wise. Her energy is so powerful that other traditions, such as pagan, Wiccan, and the goddess spiritual traditions, revere her. How to Work With the Goddess Oshun
Often, people don't know how to work with her energy so that they get material results. However, after studying astrology, I have figured out one of the best ways to understand Oshun, overall and personally. It helps to know what your own inner Oshun looks and acts like.
Oshun is the same energy as the planet Venus: they represent the same themes though they have different names. Both are who we look to when it comes to relationships, money, beauty, pleasure, and sensuality. Many people don't understand that their Venus can help them know how they can work with and express the goddess Oshun. Though they are the same energy, there is a nuance that comes with working with Oshun. For instance, she is a water deity, and there are traditional prayers that hail from the Ifa religion. But what I find is that people cannot connect with Oshun and express her most of the time. However, when you understand your Venus, you will better understand why you show up in relationships the way that you do. Also, you will know why you do or don't have confidence. Why is this important? Because so many people make offerings to Oshun, such as honey and flowers, only to never manifest anything. But, once you understand yourself through your Venus, you can customize your ritual work to heal your inner Oshun and enhance her power in your life. What do you need to know to do this? You need to know your Venus sign and house position at the least. Additionally, it is good to know aspects to your Venus. Knowing if you have harmonious or challenging astrological aspects can help you understand what you need to do to best manifest or show up in the world. Additionally, it is important to know what transiting Venus is doing. Transiting Venus is where Venus currently is in the sky. Knowing Venus' position from month to month provides information on how to work with Oshun today. You see, Oshun is about blessing and manifesting, and if we are revering her, making offerings and lighting candles in her honor, and yet we see no results, then there is a need to understand your own inner Oshun. You can achieve this knowing by understanding your personal Venus placements and working with the sign and house Venus currently is in to help you manifest your heart's desires. Here's an example: If a woman has Venus in Virgo in the 6th house, she will more than likely be a bit reserved and may lack esteem. Both of those placements do not render a confident inner goddess. Moreover, the description of Oshun is as a sensual, vivacious, and energetic goddess. A woman with a Venus in Virgo in the 6th house may feel that she cannot connect with and live up to the typical image of Oshun. But the good news is that to know your Venus means that you can consciously counter the challenges to your Venus by seeking confidence in your work, in being healthy, in being organized. Your creativity may lie in engineering or nursing. Instead of trying to fit into a mold of society's definition of womanhood, honoring these qualities will lead to self-acceptance, healthier relationships, and abundance. What is outlined in this article is not a traditional approach to working with Oshun. However, as a twice-initiated priestess, I find that when women understand their Venus, they walk more empowered because they can finally accept themselves and learn how to manifest in the best way for them. The crazy part is that most of them already know, and now they have the confirmation to walk empowered. Combining Astrology with the Orisha and goddess traditions can help women go from lack of confidence and confusion surrounding their femininity to living in alignment with their life purpose. The Goddess Oshun and Your Venus Sign:
Here are brief descriptions of what your inner Oshun may act like based on astrological sign.
Aries: You may be sporty and prefer short hair. Though you may be sexual like Oshun, you may not be sensual. Your fiery Venus will make your Oshun a beloved activist and rebel. One caveat is to make sure you stand up for yourself, as this placement can lend a woman to being abused. Taurus: You are one of the signs that may feel exceedingly connected to Oshun. You embody her sensuality, desire for pleasure, and focus on material abundance. Gemini: If your Venus is in Gemini, you embody the playfulness and curiosity of Oshun. However, you may not be as emotionally sensitive as she is portrayed. Your Geminian nature is a good match for her creative nature in the form of writing. Cancer: Venus in Cancer could create a somewhat confused Oshun. Oshun is not known for being a homemaker and raising children. This placement could make you the exception. Instead of being a party girl, you find pleasure in home and family. Leo: For women with Venus in Leo, you will find Oshun to be a nice match. Venus, Oshun, and Leo are all highly creative and stylish. Oshun is also inspirational and loves being the center of attention like Leo. The only challenge of this Venus is being okay with being a powerful and feminine woman in a masculine world. Virgo: Ahhh. We are back to Venus in Virgo. Women with this placement need to decide that they will not be hard on themselves and avoid feeling that they don't live up to their standards as much as possible. Oshun is known for wearing bright colors and sexy clothes. So Venus in Virgo women, know that it is okay if you dress more simply. Honor your Venus and you will feel beautiful! Libra: Because Venus rules Libra, this is a Venusian placement that will feel aligned with Oshun. The grace, elegance, and refinement of Libra is the epitome of Oshun. Also, Libra's focus on relationships directly correlates to Oshun's love of relationships. Oshun is known to bring harmony, which additionally supports the alignment of this Venus placement. Scorpio: Whoa! Scorpio is an interesting Venus sign when comparing characteristics to Oshun. What matches is the leaning towards enjoying sex and connection, both are water energies, and both govern divination. Where they differ is that Oshun is gentle and easy and Scorpio is intense and related to trauma. Venus in Scorpio may require one to heal her inner Oshun. Sagittarius: Venus in Sagittarius is a match that may relate to traditional descriptions of Oshun, though not precisely. Both are fun, giving, and brilliant energies. However, Oshun is not known for debating, so this Venus placement needs to honor that she may be willing to spar with her words more than the traditional Oshun. Capricorn: This placement is similar to Venus in Virgo. Capricorn is the elder and Oshun is the maiden. Capricorn is the killjoy and Oshun is the embodiment of joy. So Venus in Capricorn will feel very different from Oshun; however, as she ages, she will be successful and abundant and living the life of pleasure that Oshun is known for. Aquarius: Venus in Aquarius is a nice match to Oshun because both are quirky, innovative, and social. A big difference is that Venus in Aquarius may not be warm and fuzzy in relationships, which is different from the traditional version of Oshun. Pisces: This is the jackpot sign when comparing Venus to Oshun! To start, Venus in Pisces is exalted, which means that she operates exceedingly well in that sign. She is highly creative, generous, loving, and abundant in Pisces. Combine all of this with Pisces as a water sign and you have almost a direct correlation to Oshun. It's time to get results from all of your Oshun goddess rituals and astrology can help you do so. May you do so by honoring your personal inner Oshun. About the Guest Author:
Here comes the June solar eclipse in Gemini and full moon in Capricorn! The solar eclipse is our first of the year, coming after the first lunar eclipse in May in Sagittarius. What is a Solar Eclipse?
A new moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact same position in the Zodiac (called a conjunction). New moons are related to beginnings, have high energy, and are enthusiastic. Solar eclipses occur when a new moon is within 18 1/2 degrees of the Lunar Nodes (the points in the Moon's orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic).
What is a Full Moon?
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). Full moons are related to endings, culminations, and are emotional energy.
Solar Eclipse in Gemini: June 10th 2021 (6:53AM ET/3:53AM PT)
Our first solar eclipse for the year! This solar eclipse comes in Gemini, the sign of the mind, so we can have extra communications, more mental energy, lots of ideas, and work on new plans. We can be excited and interested in a variety of things, making us easily bored, and ready to pounce on the next interesting thing.
This solar eclipse is huge because it comes with Mercury retrograde in Gemini conjunct (aligned with) the eclipse! That makes this a monster eclipse and one of the biggest events in the year. Retrogrades are times for do-overs and second chances, and that is times a zillion with a solar eclipse. This is the time to take a second chance, a big one. What would you like to try again with? The eclipse is also square (hard aspect, 3 signs away) Neptune in Pisces, so this can bring some foggy energy into the mix, and we have to work on being realistic, not having rose-colored glasses on, and not falling for the pretty words. We have to push through the fog and ground our minds so we don't get lost. The solar eclipse occurs at 19 degrees 47 minutes Gemini. The aspects to this eclipse are: Conjunction: 14 degrees 47 minutes - 24 degrees 47 minutes Gemini Semisextile: 17 degrees 47 minutes - 21 degrees 47 minutes Taurus or Cancer Sextile: 14 degrees 47 minutes - 24 degrees 47 minutes Aries or Leo Square: 14 degrees 47 minutes - 24 degrees 47 minutes Virgo or Pisces Trine: 14 degrees 47 minutes - 24 degrees 47 minutes Libra or Aquarius Quincunx: 17 degrees 47 minutes - 21 degrees 47 minutes Scorpio or Capricorn Opposition: 14 degrees 47 minutes - 24 degrees 47 minutes Sagittarius Full Moon in Capricorn: June 24th 2021 (2:39PM ET/11:39AM PT)
We come out of the eclipses and Mercury retrograde with a full moon in Capricorn, and this might be the right one to have at this time. Capricorn is discipline and responsibility, and we have to weigh those things. What have we been reckless with and need to consider now, and what have we been lackadaisical with that require attention?
Some may hit their stride and make progress on their path, strengthening confidence in their plans and ideas. Others may experience setbacks and delays, and a new approach is likely necessary. There can be more responsibilities in general, and we can be more realistic about life. This full moon is sextile (positive aspect, 2 signs away) Jupiter in Pisces, which is helpful since Jupiter is the expansive planet and Capricorn is a restrictive sign. Jupiter helps us not go too far with limitations, and we can find it easier to get the space we need. We can keep responsibilities from overwhelming us, and take care of our personal, private needs. The full moon occurs at 3 degrees 28 minutes Capricorn. The aspects to this full moon are: Conjunction: 1 degrees 28 minutes - 5 degrees 28 minutes Capricorn Sextile: 1 degrees 28 minutes - 5 degrees 28 minutes Scorpio or Pisces Square: 1 degrees 28 minutes - 5 degrees 28 minutes Aries or Libra Trine: 1 degrees 28 minutes - 5 degrees 28 minutes Taurus or Virgo Opposition: 1 degrees 28 minutes - 5 degrees 28 minutes Cancer Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for general interpretations There are 10 planets and 12 houses in astrology, which make up the main part of any astrology chart. Because there are less planets than houses, this means every person has at least two houses in their natal chart with no planets in them (usually 3-5 houses). These houses that have no natal planets in them are called empty houses. Every house in astrology governs a different part of yourself and your life, and the 1st house is the house of the self. What does it mean when your 1st house is empty? What is an empty house?
A natal chart is a snapshot of the locations of various planets, houses, and bodies in the Zodiac at the moment you were born from the location you were born at. Any house without one of the natal planets in it is considered an empty house.
When a house is empty, the energy manifests more purely (focused on the sign the house falls in), and it's believed you have less baggage and issues to work through. Houses with planets in them are seen as areas of life you still have to work on, while houses without planets in them are seen as areas you've already mastered (in past lives or early in this life) and are comfortable with. So instead of it being a bad thing, it's actually a good thing! What is the 1st house?
The 1st house is the house of the self, and corresponds to your Ascendant or Rising sign (the sign on the horizon at the moment you were born and location you were born at). The 1st house is an important part of your personality, and shows how you come across.
Normally, any planets in this house would be a very important part of your life and personality, and may overshadow everything or have influence in virtually everything. But when you have no planets in the 1st house, it's entirely focused on the sign the 1st house falls in. An Empty 1st House:
Some may worry that an empty 1st house means you have no personality, or struggle with showcasing yourself, but it's actually the reverse of that. When your 1st house is empty, this means you manifest the sign the 1st house falls in more purely in your life and personality. You have less to hold you back from doing that, and can express this sign in an easier way, without anything tinting it.
An empty 1st house can help you to showcase yourself more often, be more comfortable with attention, and more comfortable in your own skin. You can manage being around others, and present yourself well. The 1st house links to new beginnings and journeys, so you may be someone who has an easier time starting anew, going down new journeys, and finding opportunities for new beginnings. You can make things happen for yourself, and may be more assertive and take initiative. You may not be someone who needs to wait for something else to kick in before you can jumpstart things. Instead, you can do it yourself, and may be better able to make use of energy and enthusiasm for what you want. You may be seen as a more natural leader, and can take the lead in a way that is comfortable for you. This may depend on the sign your 1st house is in though (or the sign may show in what part of your life you're a leader). When it might be a challenge:
The Lunar Nodes (points in the Moon's orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic; are spiritual/karmic in nature) or Chiron (ruler of wounds and healing) in the 1st house may complicate things and make it so it's not as easy as if they're truly empty. The Lunar Nodes and Chiron aren't considered planets, so they're not factored in for the "empty house" designation (there are tens of thousands of asteroids, so technically speaking, no one has a truly empty house, but these bodies aren't factored in).
If your North Node is in the 1st house, you may struggle with manifesting your 1st house sign, especially earlier in life, and feel uncomfortable with the energy, with showcasing yourself, and with putting yourself out there. This is something you have to learn over time with age. If your South Node is in the 1st house, you may be super comfortable with being out there and showcasing yourself, but you may also struggle with old baggage (past life or early life) and have to work on that, otherwise it weighs you down. Chiron in your 1st house can make you more open about your wounds, and you may be someone who is seen as the victim or gets taken advantage of routinely. You have to work on healing, embracing the strength in healing yourself, and guard yourself better. You can take control of your healing and thrive. If the 1st house cusp is anaretic (at 29 degrees), or if the 1st house ruler is anaretic. This might bring hurdles you need to overcome in order to showcase yourself, pursue what you want, and take more action. The 1st house ruler intercepted (contained in another house), a singleton (only planet in an element, quality, or house type), conjunct Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto (if not any of them), or part of a challenging aspect configuration (like the apex planet of a t-square) can also bring out some difficulties, but may not be as strong as the others. Having these present may indicate challenges you have to deal with, but they can still be easier at times than if they were present with a different house that had a natal planet in it (especially if that planet is Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto!).
