When you first start learning to read your natal chart, one thing you quickly discover is that not every natal house has a planet in it, which means that is an empty house. Houses can be grouped together based on what they rule, and the 5th, 7th, and 11th houses can come together to form the social or relationship houses. But what does it mean when all 3 of these houses are empty? What is an empty house?
There are 12 houses in an astrology chart, and each house rules a different part of your life. There are 10 planets (including the Sun and Moon, excluding the Earth), and each of them has their own rulers and energy as well. But you see, there are only 10 planets but 12 houses - which means every person has at least 2 houses without a planet (usually more than that).
The 5th, 7th, and 11th Houses - Your Relationships
The 5th house is the house of love. It rules the love relationships you have, romance and dating, as well as your children. This is the house of creation, so it's the start of a love relationship.
The 7th house is the house of committed relationships. You move on from the start with the 5th house and come to the 7th house, which rules partnerships and marriage (but do know that "commitment" doesn't necessarily mean marriage, it's whatever that means to you). The 11th house is the house of friends and acquaintances. This house is a little more casual than the 5th and 7th, and governs your entire social circle. The groups you interact with and belong to also fall under the 11th house. Empty 5th, 7th, and 11th Houses
So what if all 3 of these houses for you are empty houses? First, you need to know what an empty house means - in astrology, it actually represents a part of our life that doesn't have a load of lessons for you to learn and drama! It's actually kind of a good thing.
When a planet is in a house, it gets extra attention from us because it's something we have to work on consciously, whereas an empty house doesn't have that worry. Many worry that an empty house means you won't have that in your life, but that's not true at all. If your 5th, 7th, and 11th houses are all empty houses, this means that connecting with others for you doesn't have the same kind of baggage as it does for everyone else. This may mean subconscious, early life baggage, or baggage from past lives/karmic. You're free to enter into love relationships, commitment, and friendships without the subconscious/spiritual blocks. The way your empty house operates is focused on the sign on the cusp (the very beginning of that house), and what's going on with the ruler of that house. The house ruler becomes elevated when there aren't any planets in the house to have a say. Exceptions:
Of course, there are exceptions to this easy energy. If you have the Lunar Nodes (spiritual/karmic in nature) or Chiron (wounds and healing) in the 5th, 7th, or 11th houses, this can show you do have some baggage to deal with after all.
There may also be challenges if the 5th, 7th, or 11th house ruler is in a difficult position in your natal chart, like conjunct Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto; anaretic (at 29 degrees), intercepted (contained within another house), a singleton (only planet in an element, quality, or house type), or part of a challenging aspect configuration (like the apex planet of a t-square). So, having an empty house by itself doesn't automatically mean it's easy energy all the way if these are present. Honorable Mention: The 3rd House
The 7th and 11th houses are air houses, connected to air signs Libra (7th) and Aquarius (11th). The other air sign, Gemini, connects to the 3rd house. The air signs are the social signs.
The 3rd house rules communication, which is a mode for connecting with others. An empty 3rd house can help with forging that connection, while a challenged 3rd house/cusp/ruler can create some difficulties with connecting mentally. So, you may want to check out this house too! Suggested Reading: Empty Houses in Astrology Here comes March! March brings with it a new moon in Pisces and a full moon in Libra, both lovely signs for the Moon. Let's dig in! What is a New Moon?
A new moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact same position in the Zodiac (called a conjunction). New moons are related to beginnings, have high energy, and are enthusiastic.
What is a Full Moon?
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). Full moons are related to endings, culminations, and are emotional energy.
New Moon in Pisces: March 13th 2021 (6:22AM ET/3:22AM PT)
The March new moon comes to us in Pisces, and this is sweet, gentle energy. We can be more understanding, compassionate, and want to be of help in any way we can. It's a good time to help out and be a little sweeter with others.
Intuition can be strong, and we can trust our instincts to guide us in the right direction. We may want to pursue spiritual ventures and explore the metaphysical. Imagination can roam free, and we can be more creative and artistic. Pisces is a quiet sign, and one that prefers to work in the background, so we may want to deal with things in a quiet way, without much attention, and work on our own. This can help us maintain some healthy boundaries, which is always important with Pisces. This new moon is widely conjunct (aligned with) ruler Neptune in Pisces, and widely sextile (positive aspect, 2 signs away) Pluto in Capricorn. The conjunction to Neptune amplifies the Pisces energy, and we may be super compassionate, imagination, and intuitive. This may also bring about an ending of some sort, and we can see developments regarding Pisces/Neptune (like something with water or the arts). Pluto helps us to take control, and keeps us from being taken advantage of. We can assert our power without being controlling, and find solutions to problems. The new moon occurs at 23 degrees 4 minutes Pisces. Aspects to this new moon are: Conjunction: 21 degrees 4 minutes - 25 degrees 4 minutes Pisces Sextile: 21 degrees 4 minutes - 25 degrees 4 minutes Taurus or Capricorn Square: 21 degrees 4 minutes - 25 degrees 4 minutes Gemini or Sagittarius Trine: 21 degrees 4 minutes - 25 degrees 4 minutes Cancer or Scorpio Opposition: 21 degrees 4 minutes - 25 degrees 4 minutes Virgo Full Moon in Libra: March 28th 2021 (2:48PM ET/11:48AM PT)
March's full moon comes to us in Libra, and this is the sign of relationships and other people, so we can be extra focused on that. We may work on being more emotionally connected with the people we care about, and we can express more of what we feel with others. Others may be more expressive with us as well, and this can help open up emotional pathways, but we also need to make sure we're not creating drama.
Libra full moons are times when we need to surround ourselves with peace and harmony. When we're not dealing with chaos, we can be much more decisive and emotionally secure. If we have chaos to deal with, it can throw us off in a big way, and we can struggle with seeing things clearly or making a sound judgment. Libra is the sign of balance, so Libra full moons are great times to work on eliminating blocks to achieve balance in your life. The more balanced you feel, the easier it can be to deal with everything. What haven't you been able to focus on as of late? This full moon is opposite Venus in Aries, and Venus is the natural ruler of Libra, so we may not be as comfortable with this full moon as we are with the new moon in March. We may be at odds, deal with oppositional and aggressive people, and there can be a degree of competition that needs to be toned down. We have to work on compromise and diplomacy, and not identify so strongly with our positions that we don't see possible solutions right in front of us. The full moon occurs at 8 degrees 18 minutes Libra. Aspects to this full moon are: Conjunction: 6 degrees 18 minutes - 10 degrees 18 minutes Libra Sextile: 6 degrees 18 minutes - 10 degrees 18 minutes Leo or Sagittarius Square: 6 degrees 18 minutes - 10 degrees 18 minutes Cancer or Capricorn Trine: 6 degrees 18 minutes - 10 degrees 18 minutes Gemini or Aquarius Opposition: 6 degrees 18 minutes - 10 degrees 18 minutes Aries Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for interpretations Yesterday moved us from eccentric Aquarius Season into sweet, sensitive Pisces Season. Aquarius Season is a time when we're doing things differently, pushing outside of our comfort zones, and making changes, and this has especially been the case this time with Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius too. With Pisces Season, we can pull back a little from this and quiet everything down. If you're a Pisces (Sun, Moon, or Rising), or you have a strong natal Neptune (the natural ruler of Pisces), you know that this sign tends to prefer things to be quieter, softer, gentler, and sweeter. Fellow water signs Cancer and Scorpio can do well during Pisces Season, along with earth signs Taurus and Capricorn. Fellow mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius may have to do more work. This Pisces Season actually gives a little preview of what we can expect with Jupiter moving into Pisces in May, and comes with some sweet energy paired with pleasant Venus in Pisces starting February 25th. Mercury will also enter Pisces March 15th, right at the end of Pisces Season, and we'll have a lovely New Moon in Pisces right around then on March 13th. About Pisces Energy
Pisces is the very last sign of the Zodiac, and because of this, it's said to have the knowledge of experience from all the other Zodiac signs. This makes Pisces more sensitive, compassionate, and understanding. Pisces relates to the past, governs our subconscious, and as the last sign, rules endings.
Pisces is also super mystical and magical. Because it's so sensitive (duh, it's a water sign and mutable sign!), it can get in tune with the subtle energies all around us. This sign rules intuition, and while it may struggle with logic and reality sometimes, it's intuition is top notch. When you're a Pisces native (or have a strong Neptune or stacked 12th house, which corresponds to Pisces), you're likely someone with excellent instincts. Sometimes you may struggle to trust them, but when you do, they can steer you in the right direction. If the energy is very strong for you, you may be someone who strongly identifies with your intuitive self. You may be a little (or a lot!) witchy, a little (or a lot!) into the metaphysical, and a little (or a lot!) focused on the vibes of everything. Pisces Season Horoscopes
(read your Sun and Rising signs for a more accurate view; remember that horoscopes are meant for "entertainment purposes only" - use good judgment!)
Pisces Season is one of your more unusual periods of the year, Aries, and it's focused on slowing things down, getting some time alone, clearing things out, and getting some quiet. You're usually always on the go, and Aquarius Season may have been one that was full of activity and change, and you can appreciate the slowdown now. Rest, recharge, rejuvenate, and prep yourself for when your season starts in a month. Whatever your instincts tell you that you need to prepare, that might be the right thing to do
Pisces Season is a time for you to go outside of your comfort zone a little bit, Taurus. You can focus on changes you want to make, especially ones that help you get closer to achieving your dreams. You can think more about the future you hope to have. You may want to do things that are a little out there, a little zany and weird, but you can enjoy them more and feel they're true to who you really are. Let your intuition guide you when it comes to what changes to work on and what ways to do things differently.
Pisces Season can be a time for you to focus on making progress with your goals and ambitions, Gemini. Especially coming out of Mercury retrograde (who is your ruler), you can start to feel more like yourself and get back on track, going in the right direction, this Pisces Season. You may get recognition for the things you've done right, and you can make some connections in the right places that help you get further along. If you're uncertain about something you're working toward, try tapping into your intuition for guidance.
Pisces Season can prompt you to do some expanding and exploring, Cancer. You can be more open to new experiences in life, and want to do more so you can learn more. You can share your wisdom with others, and this can bring some fresh air into your life. Yo may have had a hard time with some serious matters during Aquarius Season, but Pisces Season lightens things up for you. If you have multiple opportunities you want to pursue, let your instincts tell you which to act on.
Pisces Season can help you with solving any problems and tackling serious matters, Leo. Any that have vexed you lately, you can let your intuition tell you the right solution and way forward now. This can be an excellent time to transform some part of your life for the better, and you can start at the core and move from there to make sure it lasts a long time. You can also be more open to sharing, and want to strengthen emotional bonds and commitment to those you love.
Pisces Season comes to your relationship sector, Virgo, and this can help you focus on the people in your life. This may be needed after the last few weeks made you focus so much on the little things that need to get done thanks to your ruler, Mercury, being retrograde. You can work to balance the scales again, and give attention to others. If you're having a problem with someone, your intuition can help you navigate. Consider being more understanding and compromising.
Pisces Season comes to your work sector, Libra, and you can get as much work done as you can. You may have been on the lazier side over the last few weeks, or just didn't have enough time, but now you can get productive and be more efficient with your time and energy. Your instincts can help you figure out what to work on and when, and how to be more productive. You can get the little things out of the way, and maximize your schedule.
Pisces Season comes to your love sector, Scorpio, and you can focus on trying to connect to your heart and enjoy yourself. The last few weeks may have increased emotional energy and been a little more serious, and now you're in the mood for fun and play. Tap into your intuitive side, and maybe pursue spiritual ventures. You can feel more artistic and creative, inspired, and can be more comfortable with attention you may get for it.
Pisces Season comes to your home and family sector, Sagittarius, and you can focus on trying to create more stability and security at home and be there for those you think of as family. You may have had lots to do over the last few weeks, stealing your attention, and you may have been more focused on the mind and less on emotions. Now you can work on being more emotionally connected and supported. Listen to your intuition to see what you need to take care of.
Pisces Season can increase metal activity, Capricorn, and you can come up with plenty to do, have new ideas, and work on new plans. You may have felt stuck over the last few weeks, and you can get unstuck pretty quickly with the energy now. You can be more engaging and fill up your calendar and schedule. If you end up having a lot to address, let your instincts help you figure out which to prioritize and how to do so in the best way.
Pisces Season brings some slowing down of energy for you, Aquarius, since it is the end of your season. You've still got plenty of energy to focus on though with Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn in your sign, and you can continue with the big new beginnings and ventures you're pursuing. The difference now is that you may go about that in a slower, more cautious, and more thought out way. You may wait to take action until you're confident in your choices, and your intuition can help you determine that.
Pisces Season is your season, Pisces! When it's your season, this is usually the time of year when you want to get started on new ventures, new projects, new plans, pursue new ideas and opportunities, and embark on new beginnings and journeys. You can focus on them for the next year, and with Jupiter moving to your sign, it may actually be for the next 2 years-ish, so you get a little more time. What is something big you'd like to work on? What does your gut tell you to go for? You may need to wait another week or two before you get a solid answer, but have confidence in yourself once you do.

Nurturing Ceres goes from a super sensitive sign in Pisces to a more independent sign of Aries. That's pretty different! What is Ceres in astrology?
Ceres is technically a dwarf planet (like Pluto) but in astrology, we call it an asteroid (as it was before the dwarf planet designation). Ceres is super nurturing, supportive, caring, and there for you. I describe it as a supercharged Moon. You can find Ceres in your own chart on astro.com (in Extended Chart Selection, click on Additional Objects, and select Ceres from the menu).
Ceres in Aries Dates:
General Impact of Ceres in Aries:
Ceres is in Pisces at the moment, and this is a sweet, sensitive, gentle position for Ceres to be in. Ceres in Aries isn't exactly like that! With Ceres in Aries, we're more likely to nurture ourselves, and feel emotionally comfortable with being louder, assertive, and active.
Activity is something we're much more likely to need in order to balance ourselves and feel more secure. Without being active, this may be a challenging period. On a personal level, you may find this to be most focused on the areas of life ruled by the natl house(s) Ceres in Aries will tour for you. We may want to do more of the things that we enjoy for ourselves, or that allow us to showcase more of who we are. We're less likely to hide our identities, and want to have the freedom to be ourselves. Ceres in Aries can make us more comfortable with being independent, and we can help others to find their own way and learn how to rely on themselves. Ceres in Aries Aspects:
Final Notes:
Ceres will be at 0 degrees Aries February 21st - 23rd, which is a special position called the 0 degrees Aries Point. This is the very first degree in the Zodiac (which is made up of 360 degrees, 30 for each of the 12 signs). 0 degrees Aries wants us to show our true selves, to be who we really are outwardly. If that's been a problem, it can be front-and-center!
At the end, Ceres will be at 29 degrees Aries May 5th - 8th, which is called the anaretic degree (which is 29 degrees of any sign, the last degree). The anaretic degree is a point of crisis energy in transit, and we may feel we have to make a big push for expression around this time. We have to be mindful of being overly aggressive or selfish to do it though. Suggested Reading: Transit Ceres in the Houses Astrology gives a lot of attention to the 10 planets and 12 houses, but there are other bodies you can pay attention to - like asteroids! There are thousands of asteroids out there, and many relate to something specific, like love and relationships. Asteroid Juno is one of those asteroids, and governs marriage and commitment. Juno in Mythology
Juno was the wife of Zeus/Jupiter, and was a very faithful wife - that dude cheated left, right, and center, and she still stuck around! We can argue whether or not that was a good thing (I'd be Team Drop Him Like It's Hot), but this does show how much Juno represents commitment.
This tends to be said as "marriage" since that is the traditional mode of commitment in romantic relationships, however it can symbolize whatever commitment means for you (in case you don't believe in marriage - but you know, your natal asteroid Juno may show why that is!). Juno Versus Venus and Mars
Venus and Mars are often the ones we look to for relationship stuff. Venus is attractive and shows what we want and need in relationships, and Mars is initiative, and shows our desire and drive. Juno is kind of the after part. Venus likes dating and romance, Mars likes sex and the hunt, and Juno likes to put a label on it. Asteroid Juno's like, let's DTR this thing!
Together, they're a relationship trifecta. Put them together, and you hit relationshiop gold. Natal Asteroid Juno in the Signs
In your natal chart, your natal asteroid Juno can show your attitude about commitment, and what can make you commit to someone. You can find the position of your natal asteroid Juno on astro.com (in Extended Chart Selection, click on Additional Objects, and select Juno in the menu).
Asteroid Juno in Aries Aries is an independent sign, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Aries can make you desire commitment that allows for a degree of independence. A balance may be needed to give both partners the time to do what they want without completely avoiding the relationship. A clingy partner may be a nightmare for you. You may go for someone who is very active, and this can be a source of bonding. Asteroid Juno in Taurus Taurus rules stability and security, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Taurus can make you crave a relationship that is calm, stable, and grounded. Chaotic relationships can be no-go for you. You may want a partner who you view as sensual, and connect with physically very well. Physical affection can be an important way you convey your loyalty. Asteroid Juno in Gemini Gemini is the sign of the mind, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Gemini can make a mental connection of utmost importance in a relationship for you. Without that, you can get bored with someone quickly. You need the mental stimulation to keep you on your toes. You may prefer to have an active relationship socially. Asteroid Juno in Cancer Cancer is the sign of emotions, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Cancer can make an emotional connection the most important thing for you in a relationship. You need to feel supported and nurtured by your partner, and you can give that in return and act as a solid cheerleader. Without support, the relationship can become emotionally unstable. Asteroid Juno in Leo Leo is a highly romantic sign, and having your natal asteroid Juno in Leo can make you super romantic, or you attract someone who is. You may feel romance is an important part of commitment, and this is how you show your loyalty, which can be strong. One of you may be someone who attracts lots of attention, and the other gives lots of attention to the other. Asteroid Juno in Virgo Virgo is the sign of work and the details, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Virgo can show you're willing to put in the work to improve your relationship, and want someone who is equally committed. You may need to drop perfectionism though. You may want a partner who pays attention to the little things, and who helps ease your insecurities. Asteroid Juno in Libra Libra is the sign of relationships and commitment, so asteroid Juno goes well here. You may crave more balance and peace and harmony in your relationships, and chaotic relationships can really throw you off. You likely want someone you view as an equal, and a relationship with mutual respect. You may appreciate someone sociable and artsy. Asteroid Juno in Scorpio Scorpio is the most passionate sign, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Scorpio can show your relationships can be intense, and you need someone who can satisfy your desire for high heat and passion. This can lead you into relationships with bad actors though, so you have to be more discriminating early on. Loyalty can be something you value fiercely. Asteroid Juno in Sagittarius Sagittarius rules freedom, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Sagittarius can show you need to have a certain degree of freedom in your relationships, and don't like anyone clingy. This sign rules beliefs, so you may prioritize being with someone who has the same beliefs you do.Sagittarius is also adventurous, so you may want the relationship to bring adventure into your life, or go for someone with an adventurous spirit. Asteroid Juno in Capricorn Capricorn is a traditional sign, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Capricorn may mean you go for more traditional commitment and relationships (whatever that means for you). You can go for the "norm". You can be responsible with those you care about, and take your relationships and commitment seriously. Wild relationships aren't your thing. You may be a late bloomer in relationships and commitment. Asteroid Juno in Aquarius Aquarius is an unconventional sign, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Aquarius may mean you go for unconventional setups in relationships (whatever that means for you). Whatever was the norm for you growing up, you likely go for the opposite of that. Someone interesting and eccentric can be your thing. A foundation of friendship can be very important for you, and without that, you may not feel invested. Asteroid Juno in Pisces Pisces is a spiritual sign, so having your natal asteroid Juno in Pisces may mean you need someone you feel a spiritual connection with. You may want someone sensitive and compassionate, and who is careful with your heart. You may be attracted to spiritual or artistic types. But you do need to be careful of trying to save anyone or let anyone save you, and healthy boundaries are crucial. Chiron is technically a comet (now anyways, it's been called a dwarf planet and asteroid; in astrology, we just call it an asteroid as they used to). How does Chiron influence relationships in astrology? The composite chart in astrology combines the natal charts of two or more people to create a new chart for the relationship itself. Astrology views the relationship itself as a separate entity, and composites can help explain why people who would seem to get along great don't and why opposites sometimes attract. So what is the influence of Chiron in the composite chart? Let's explore! What does Chiron show in a composite chart?
Chiron is a body that focuses on wounds. This means in relationship astrology, Chiron connections can expose wounds, or even cause new wounds. In the composite chart, the placement of the composite Chiron can show what areas of the relationship this is focused on.
The sign may not matter as much since Chiron spends a long time in one sign, so you'll likely have the same Chiron sign unless you have a big age difference. The house placement can matter more, as well as major aspects. What makes for a strong Chiron in the composite chart?
Composite Chiron can be strongest when in the composite 1st house or conjunct (aligned with) a composite planet (especially a personal planet - Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) or composite angle (1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th house cusps).
These placements can make Chiron more important for your relationship, and it has the potential to be one that helps you do a lot of healing, or to do a lot of harm. Which exactly often depends on how the rest of the composite chart is (and how each of your natal charts connect with one another and play out individually). Strong Chiron in the Composite Chart
When Chiron is operating positively in the composite chart, the relationship may be one that helps you move on from past hurts, understand yourself better, and open up more emotionally. You can feel supported in the relationship, and protective of one another. In the composite chart, Chiron can be supported by beneficial aspects (sextiles and trines).
When Chiron is operating negatively in the composite chart, the relationship may be one that causes you more pain, more hurt, and more suffering. Existing wounds may worsen and deepen, and new wounds can pile on top of it. It can be extremely emotional and difficult to manage in a healthy way. In the composite chart, Chiron can be challenged by hard aspects (squares and oppositions), especially by Saturn, Uranus, or Pluto. Composite Chiron can also be difficult conjunct either or square both of the composite Lunar Nodes since they are spiritual/karmic in nature. No matter which are present, there can be a degree of discomfort with a strong composite Chiron. It's exposing some things that we might feel more comfortable not dealing with, and that can always be a challenge if we don't think we're ready for it. In general, a lot is going to depend on whether or not each of you has worked on your own wounds and done your own healing on your own. If you haven't at least started that process individually, then the relationship with a strong composite Chiron is more likely to be negative and wounding. If you can come into the relationship in a place of healing, the relationship can help further that, and you can feel more comfortable with whatever the relationship brings out for you to process.
