Astrology can show anything, including whether or not you're super into food! There are certain points that govern food astrologically. Let's explore! What rules food in astrology?
Food in astrology is linked to a few different points:
- the 4th house, Cancer, and the Moon (comfort food) - the 2nd house, Taurus, and Venus (indulgence) - dwarf planet Ceres, who who rules food in general What can show working with food in astrology?
If you’re someone who works with food, you’ll often have:
- a strong 2nd/4th house emphasis - multiple planets in Taurus or Cancer - a prominent Moon or Venus - a super important Ceres (conjunct a personal planet, angle, or in the 1st house, or making many aspects to the planets in your chart). You can also see Venus, the Moon, or Ceres in the 2nd house (of money), 6th house (of work), or 10th house (of career), or positively aspecting the ruler(s) of those houses. These are the professional houses, so when you're working with food in some capacity, there is usually going to be an indicator with these houses. What about loving food or cooking but not professionally?
Venus or Jupiter in the 2nd or 4th houses can help you love food or cooking, as can having Ceres conjunct, sextile or trine Venus, Jupiter, or conjunct the 1st, 4th, or 10th house cusps, or having Venus or the Moon in the 5th house. The 5th house rules your hobbies, so having Venus or the Moon there can make cooking something you view as a hobby (often seen with bakers). The 5th house emphasis can also be seen with foodies.
Venus, Jupiter, and the 5th house often don't take things seriously, so this would be more of an indication of loving food or cooking, but not wanting to do it professionally, unless you have the indicators with the professional houses. If you’re someone who loves to try international cuisine, this can be seen with Jupiter, the 9th house, and Sagittarius, so you can have a personal planet or Jupiter or Ceres in Sagittarius or in the 9th house, or Jupiter conjunct, sextile or trine your natal Sun, Moon, Venus, or Ceres. What about not liking to cook?
You may not like the cook at all if you have:
- a challenged natal Moon or Venus - no planets in Taurus or Cancer or in the 2nd or 4th houses - a challenged natal Ceres You may have conjunctions, squares, or oppositions to the Moon, Venus, or Ceres by Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto. Saturn or Pluto in the 2nd or 4th house can also make cooking something you don’t care as much for, though it can also be something that you grow to love over time (Saturn) or that you can use as a way to transform yourself (Pluto). And you may not like cooking or be much of a foodie at first, but you can become one if you see these aspects develop in your progressed chart, or with transit Venus, Jupiter, or Ceres in your 1st, 2nd, or 4th houses or conjunct, sextile, or trine your natal Sun, Moon, Venus, or Ceres. Transits and progressions are part of predictive astrology, and they can show when something comes for you over time or temporarily. Suggested Reading: Astrology of Indulgence A new moon occurs on June 4th at 11PM ET in air sign Gemini. This Gemini new moon wants us to be a little more positive as we're still in the Mars retrograde when this new moon occurs. This new moon wants to help us with our communication too, and with Mars in intense Scorpio in June, we could use it! Try to focus on what you had difficulty communicating with in May with the Mercury retrograde, and use the lighter energy of the new moon. This new moon is active, conjunct (aligned with) Venus in Gemini, square (hard aspect, 3 signs away) Neptune in Pisces, and square Jupiter in Virgo. The conjunction to Venus can bring some pleasant energy, and we can get along a little bit better, enjoy one another's company a little but more, and work a little bit harder at compromising and being fair. Be pleasant, be charming, be sweet and affectionate . . . The squares to Jupiter and Neptune can jazz up the mutable grand cross we have going on at this time (those two planets are opposite one another, and both are square Saturn in Sagittarius, who is opposite the Sun and Venus in Gemini). The grand cross (or grand square) can be somewhat stabilizing for the scattered, unfocused energy that is mutable energy, and while much of the focus has been on Saturn in Sagittarius to the point of ignoring poor little Gemini energy, we may find that we focus more on the Gemini energy with this new moon and start doing some of the things we haven't been doing and have needed to do: Ask questions. Be curious. Focus on the details, the facts and figures. See if it makes basic sense. This new moon occurs at 14 degrees 53 minutes of Gemini, so the aspects to this new moon are as follows: Conjunction: 12 degrees 53 minutes - 16 degrees 53 minutes Gemini Sextile: 12 degrees 53 minutes - 16 degrees 53 minutes Aries or Leo Square: 12 degrees 53 minutes - 16 degrees 53 minutes Virgo or Pisces Trine: 12 degrees 53 minutes - 16 degrees 53 minutes Libra or Aquarius Opposition: 12 degrees 53 minutes - 16 degrees 53 minutes Sagittarius A full moon occurs on June 20th at 7:02AM ET in Sagittarius. This full moon is full of some hot energy too because it occurs at 29 degrees, which is called the anaretic degree. 29 degrees is the very last degree of a sign, and is a point of crisis energy. This full moon is also the second consecutive full moon in Sagittarius, and is in the sign that the Mars retrograde first began in back in April. So we may see a lot coming full circle with this full moon, stuff from the Mars retrograde and from the full moon last month that doesn't get resolved or doesn't come to a head until now. Because of the anaretic degree, we might be frantically trying to get things tied off, closed up, feeling in a rush to do it before it's too late. We'll all need to relax and not be so wrapped up in the energy and emotion of this full moon. Avoid impulsive, and try to think! Sagittarius is one of the communication signs and one of the travel signs; it also rules higher education, the law, expansion, exploration, adventure, and our beliefs, so any or all of these things can be impacted in general by this full moon. Thankfully, the full moon makes no major aspects to any planets, so at least there isn't any extra stuff to deal with! This full moon occurs at 29 degrees 32 minutes Sagittarius, so the aspects by this full moon are as follows: Conjunction: 27 degrees 32 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Sagittarius Sextile: 27 degrees 32 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Libra or Aquarius Square: 27 degrees 32 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Virgo or Pisces Trine: 27 degrees 32 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Aries or Leo Opposition: 27 degrees 32 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Gemini Note: Since this full moon occurs at 29 degrees, you may also feel aspects to it out of sign if you have any planets or points at 0 degrees of Capricorn (conjunct), Scorpio or Pisces (sextile), Aries or Libra (square), Taurus or Virgo (trine), or Cancer (opposition). Aries: You can focus on the mental connections you have with others earlier in the month, and then work on your emotional connections later in the month. The Mars retrograde has probably been making you feel more distant emotionally from others and lack the intimacy you want in life, but that finally ends at the end of June, and you can work on trying to forge better, stronger connections with others, especially in July, and can start to be lighter about it. General horoscopes are always meant for entertainment purposes only. For a more accurate view, read your Sun sign, Rising sign, and Moon sign.
Aries June 2016 Monthly Horoscope On June 12th, Mercury enters air sign Gemini, after spending the last couple of months in earth sign Taurus, and the slow mental energy you’ve had for the last few months can finally start to speed up. You can have plenty of new ideas, lots to say and share, and you can express yourself more easily. You can make decisions quickly, and you can be interested in lots of different things. You can focus on many different projects, ventures, and ideas, and can be more sociable and engaging. You might feel a little scattered from all of the extra mental energy, so write things down. General horoscopes are always meant for entertainment purposes only. For a more accurate view, read your Sun sign, Rising sign, and Moon sign.
Aries: Mars is still retrograde until June 29th, and with Mars being your ruler, you can continue to feel off in a subtle, ever-present way. This can cause you to hesitate before taking any actions, and you can wait until the energy is more on your side next month. This can be an especially difficult time for business partnerships and mutually-beneficial projects and ventures, so maybe try going it on your own for now this month until the retrograde is over. How do you tell the story of the soul’s path? For each one of us the journey of the soul is unique. Yet, the place that we journey toward is the same for us all. Some call that place infinity; some call it eternity, and still others, God. No matter what name you give to the destination, one thing is certain - we all long to return to that place. It is the most ancient, primordial, and innate desire. It is almost as though we are programmed instinctively to yearn for our origin. Our human lifetime is the exquisite opportunity to unravel the mystery of who we are. Yet, most people are unaware that this is the reason why we exist in the dimension that we refer to as human. The unceasing pursuit of happiness and fulfillment is the clear indicator that we must strive for this hidden knowledge. What would happen then, if you became aware that this was the purpose of your life? You would presumably seek a more conscious and direct pathway to fulfill that purpose. Yearning for our soul-path intensifies when we realize that life experienced solely through the five senses does not bring true fulfillment. I have seen this with clients who are just beginning to discover their true direction. They want to know their destiny, and fervently question, "What is my purpose in life?" There is a hunger within them at the soul level. These clients crave information that will satisfy the deeper longing for truth. The need to be in alignment with our individual destiny is an inherent need of the soul. We begin seeking information from sources beyond what our human senses can discern. The search for our higher soul-path is set in motion as we reach for a level of wisdom that does not exist in ordinary reality. A multitude of inspirational scriptures, ideologies, and spiritual practices that assist in the process, are available to us. These are the myriad forms of wisdom left behind by previous spiritual seekers. It is not enough, however, to rely upon someone else’s revelation, no matter how inspiring it may be. The destiny path must be walked, not only by each individual, but also in the exclusive way that it is designed for that individual. Destiny is not our vocation in life, though. It is the distinct way that our individual path leads us toward completion of our soul’s journey. The destination of that journey is the same for all of us, but how each is called to that destiny is unique. It is pragmatic advice to acquire a road map or GPS if you are traveling to a place you have never been before. Nobody wants to get lost or be uncertain of his direction. Then why is it that we do not automatically seek our unique destiny? Because we are not aware that our destiny is established before we are born. How do we know it is determined before birth? By the profound yearning that we feel within to fulfill our soul-based desires. It is a longing that feels timeless, as though we have been eternally seeking this knowledge. The need for deep fulfillment becomes a lifelong search, even at a subconscious level. Until we acknowledge this inner thirst, a part of us will remain unfulfilled. The pursuit of this destiny, then, is essential to our happiness. We are typically influenced by our cultural, political, and religious upbringing. Often we are told that there are specific things we must achieve to find happiness. It is believed that abiding by those exact dictates, we will be able to live a satisfying life. Sometimes, however, an individual is directed inwardly on a pathway that is different from what is expected of them, and a departure from conventional thinking becomes necessary. An internal directive toward fulfilling our true purpose, even if we do not understand that this is the undeniable force of our destiny, drives us. To understand why this internal decree exists, the individual must first become aware of the soul-path. This inner roadmap becomes apparent only when we recognize that a higher path actually exists. Although it is natural to seek the outward manifestation of a purposeful life, it is only through inner awareness, that we can discern true guidance. Therefore, a connection to the counsel within must first be established. The soul-path requires a shift of one’s consciousness from efforts to coerce the physical plane reality to bend to our will. Instead, we learn to allow our destiny to be revealed to us. It is not disclosed, however, by waiting for something we desire to happen. The true path is unveiled only through an internal alignment at the soul level. Then we are directed through inspiration and higher guidance to take appropriate action in our lives. When the plan of our destiny is activated, a profound sense of rightness occurs in our life. There is often a deep knowing that we were always meant to walk the specific path that is unfolding. At such a point, it becomes essential to relinquish our linear-based ideas about life. We must trust this inner directive and the divine design that created it. This is the beginning of a purposeful life. At this point, the guidance of our Master Spirit Guides, Guardian Angels, and Teachers, becomes relevant. This enables us to make conscious choices based on our free will. When I first began my work as a Channel, many people came to a session with a preset agenda rather than legitimate receptivity to the wisdom of Spirit. They thought a Channel was a psychic with extra special powers. These clients believed that the Spirit Guides had a superior vantage point to see what was going on in their lives, and could predict exactly what was going to happen. They did not realize the power was within them to walk their path. The role of our Guides is to assist us in that process, not tell us what to do. I even had one client who wanted to take me to the casinos in Atlantic City because he thought Spirit could help him to pick the winning numbers. The Guides, however, are often more interested in helping us to become empowered and fulfilled at the soul-level. Their role is to support us in awakening to who we truly are. Yes, our Spirit Guides can frequently predict a course of future events, but sometimes a prediction is not appropriate if the person believes that they are powerless in their life. It is usually more important that a teaching is given on a particular subject so that we can make enlightened choices. Our Guides want us to realize that the authority lies within us to bring about true alignment with our path. To be powerlessly subjected to whatever arbitrary circumstance befalls us is not the only option. We are returning to our original state of being through the awakening of our consciousness. The role of our Spirit Guides is to assist us in getting there. ©Asandra 2016. Excerpted from Contact Your Spirit Guides, Schiffer Publishing, Ltd.
