Uranus, one of the slow-moving outer planets, starts moving into a new sign in 2018, entering earth sign Taurus on May 15th (3:18PM UT). It’ll retrograde back into Aries November 6th (6:57PM UT), and then come back to Taurus March 6th 2019 (8:28AM UT), to stay until July 7th 2025 (7:47AM UT). It’ll retrograde back to Taurus November 8th 2025 (2:19AM UT) and officially exit Taurus April 26th 2026 (2:51AM UT). So we’re looking at about 8 years of Uranus transiting Taurus. General Impact of Uranus in Taurus
Uranus in Aries (ongoing since 2010) has been a time of rebellion, of independence, of pioneering energy. In some ways, Uranus and Aries energy are extremely compatible. Taurus, on the other hand, is quite different. Taurus is a grounded earth sign, the most grounded, fixed, earthiest of the signs. So we have to merge the two, and we can experience changes in slower, steadier ways, taking more time to create change but once we do, we can see it through to the end (something that was a bit difficult with Uranus in Aries, a lot started but stopped along the way).
Taurus rules money, so we may see some ups and downs when it comes to money during this transit, and they may be bigger ups and bigger downs (we were in the Great Depression the last time Uranus was in Taurus in the 1930’s, for example). We can take bigger risks with Uranus, but Taurus doesn’t like to be *too* risky, so we may need to work on finding some moderation. Moderation may be key in many ways! What we need to create stability and security in the world can undergo some major shifts with Uranus in Taurus, and we can find stability and security in the unconventional, the unusual, the different, and in ways we can’t even imagine now. The ways in which we’ve created stability and security can be challenged, especially with the ways we’ve been stuck in. Uranus pushes us to get unstuck and think outside of the box we’ve been living in. Taurus rules our values, so value systems may also be challenged with Uranus in Taurus. We may embrace values that are more unconventional, or that at least give us more space for thought and to be true to ourselves, even if that goes against the traditional orthodoxy. There can be more embracing of science and technology, and merging that with our values (worshipping smartphones?). Science and technology, which are Uranus-ruled, can become more practical in their applications to our lives, more accessible with Uranus in Taurus. While Uranus was in Aries, there was a lot of innovation, but maybe not so much in terms of innovation that we really needed and could benefit on a larger scale. We can be practical innovators? Taurus is fixed energy, there can be many ways in which we’re all working to get unstuck while Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus hates being stuck, and Taurus is super stuck! But they can combine to bring some beneficial energy for getting out of ruts and bringing in some fresh air. Speaking of fresh air, since Taurus is an earth sign and Uranus rules causes, Uranus in Taurus may be a great time for focusing on environmentalism. We can become much more passionate about improving the ways in which we treat the Earth. My concern is that the reason for this may be because we see some super extreme weather and climatological events that force us to get more real and get more invested. Which is definitely a scary thought considering how extreme it’s already been! The Other Planets, Retrogrades, and Eclipses While Uranus is in Taurus
This year, in 2018, Uranus in Taurus will be a bit hot right at the start as it’ll be embroiled in a fixed grand cross midyear with Mars retrograding in Aquarius, Mercury retrograding in Leo, and Jupiter in Scorpio. This can be one of the most difficult periods of Uranus in Taurus, and we may feel extra stuck, stubborn, resistant yet perhaps unmoving, and we need to be more mindful of the energy at the time. Get grounded, get focused, and make some slow, steady progress. Avoid impulsive, indulgence, ignorance. Keep an open mind!
Jupiter will be in Taurus while Uranus is in Taurus May 16th 2023 - May 25th 2024, and the two will conjunct (align) April 21st 2024 at 21 degrees Taurus. Jupiter energy is expansive, so while Jupiter is in Taurus with Uranus, this can expand on the Taurus energy. We can have extra focus on finances, security and stability, the Earth and nature, and some things improve that we’ve been doing well with, and other things can get worse that we’ve been reckless with, and on a personal level, this can be found in the areas of life ruled by the house(s) in your chart these two will be touring. While in Uranus is in Taurus, Mars will be in Taurus February 14th - March 31st 2019, January 6th - March 4th 2021, July 5th - August 20th 2022, and June 9th - July 20th 2024. Mars is energy and drive, so these periods bring greater focus on Taurus energy, and we can be more energized and driven for financial pursuits, to bring stability and security, to focus on confidence and sensuality, to be grounded, practical, and steady, to stick to what we start, and to connect to the Earth. Like with Jupiter, this can be found on a personal level with the areas of life ruled by the house(s) in your chart both Uranus and Mars will be transiting. Mercury will retrograde twice in Taurus while Uranus is in Taurus, May 23rd - June 3rd 2022, and April 21st - May 15th 2023. Thankfully, Venus and Mars won’t retrograde in Taurus while Uranus is in Taurus, only Mercury will. When Mercury is retrograde in Taurus with Uranus, this can bring more difficulties to the energy, and we can struggle with being fiscally responsible, feeling stable and secure, can be extra stubborn and stuck in a rut, and need to focus on being more grounded. There can be more impulse and rebellion when Mercury retrograde and Uranus, and more unpredictability, so we’ve gotta stay on our toes at these times. There will be four eclipses in Taurus while Uranus is in Taurus, three lunar eclipse and only one solar eclipse. The lunar eclipses are November 19th 2021, November 8th 2022, and October 28th 2023, and the solar eclipse is April 30th 2022. The solar eclipse and the November 8th 2022 lunar eclipse will be conjunct Uranus. The lunar eclipses bring more emotional energy into the mix, and we can see more endings come into play, and they can come about suddenly, unexpectedly, in unpredictable ways, in ways that impact the world at large, or in ways that impact the future. There can be some highs as well that come about suddenly, unexpectedly, or unpredictably. The solar eclipse can bring very beneficial energy, and we can focus on positive changes, pushing outside of social norms, challenging the traditional, finding new ways of having stability and security, and can focus on being better to the Earth. While Uranus is in Taurus, Neptune will mostly be in water sign Pisces, two signs away or sextile, which is a positive aspect. At the end of Uranus in Taurus, Neptune will move into Aries, one sign away, or semisextile, also a positive aspect. Pluto spends most of the tour in Capricorn, four signs away or trine, also a positive aspect, and at the end, will be in Aquarius, which is three signs away or square, a difficult aspect, but only at the very end. So the other two slow-moving outer planets are mostly at harmonious angles to Uranus while he’s in Taurus, and the trio can mostly work well together over the next 8 years. So that’s Uranus in Taurus in a nutshell! Enjoy? :) Suggested Reading: Transit Uranus page for general interpretations of Uranus in the houses and aspects Comments are closed.
