Saturn is gearing up to enter into a new sign starting October 5th, 2012. Saturn in the sign of Scorpio isn't terrible for Saturn; the two are kindred spirits, in a way. Saturn transits tend to break things down to force you to learn lessons, in an effort to make you smarter and have a more fulfilled life. People think Saturn is a terrible guy because he makes you learn the hard way. If we weren't so stubbornly attached to living irresponsibly and doing the wrong thing all of the time, his transits wouldn't be so bad.
In general, the overall effects of Saturn in Scorpio focuses on the two main things Scorpio rules: transformations and other people's money. When you break down the two, you get a lot of possibilities. With transformations, this rules drastic physical, mental, and emotion changes, from sex and pregnancy (the beginning of physical life) to death (the end of physical life). Changes will be in the air and taking over everywhere. With Saturn in Libra, you saw a lot of oppressed people rising up against their oppressors because Libra rules equality, fairness, and justice. Scorpio rules power and control, so there will still be fighting between people trying to have the control. People who have been controlled for too long will fight back with force. Oppressors will pay for their behavior. Sexuality becomes a focus, and the consequences of being irresponsible. The last time Saturn was in Scorpio was the 1980's, when HIV/AIDS became prominent. STD's could become more of a problem if we don't get our act together and become more responsible. We may do more to prevent the spread of STD's, especially in poorer nations. People will also want to have deeper connections. Scorpio can't stand superficiality, and is a sign that requires depth. We'll take that more seriously with Saturn. Commitment must be made stronger, and those who go through relationships without any cares will have to care. As for other people's money, this covers debts, loans, taxes, inheritances, and joint finances. This fits pretty well given what the world economy is going through. Those nations who try to be the most responsible will be able to get their country back on track and prosper, though it may take some pain. Those nations who don't will suffer even worse than they are now. Personal debt has been high and is part of the reason why spending has been down. As a whole, people will straighten out their debt once and for all. Let's hope governments follow suit. Creditors could see more restrictions placed upon them, and if you think it's hard to get a loan now, it'll likely be even tougher. Some random thoughts: - Scorpio is a secretive sign, so Saturn here could further complicate our already complicated privacy issues, with people fighting to tear down the measures already taken against us, or governments taking even more of our privacy away. - Saturn rules politicians, and Scorpio rules sex, so I thought I'd throw out there that we could see more prominent sex scandals with our politicians (as if we haven't seen it all already - maybe we haven't). - Things may go smoother when Jupiter is in fellow water sign Cancer starting next summer. It could also put more focus on the home (our personal homes and our countries) since Cancer rules the home (and the housing market should really improve with that transit). - We could all seem a little morbid during this time, with more focus put on death (Scorpio-ruled) and the darker side of life that people usually shy away from. This aspect is one that will be powerful and profound. Whether that's positive or negative will depend on us as individuals, societies, and nations. The intensity it will bring may be overwhelming, and there's a heaviness with this transit that may weigh on the world. ARIES With Saturn in Scorpio for Aries, if you haven’t been responsible when it comes to other people’s money (debts, loans, taxes, joint finances), then Saturn will make you pay. If you need to deal with any of that, you’ll have a harder time and it’ll take longer. You’ll also have to deal with unresolved issues that you’ve shoved away deep inside of you. Those issues will come out and create problems for you if you continue to refuse to face them. Saturn in this sign can be quite trying for you, Aries, so it’s best to be prepared for a long couple of years. Towards the end, things should improve, and if you want to work positively with this placement, then you need to strip down to your soul, get real with yourself, and work hard to transform yourself for the better. If you do that, Saturn will end up rewarding you. If you don’t, he’ll punish you. TAURUS Since Scorpio is the sign opposing yours, Saturn in Scorpio for Taurus will bring issues into your close relationships. You may long for more commitment from your partners, both in business and in your personal life. If you’re dating someone, you may decide to move in together or get engaged. If you’re living with someone, you may decide to get married. If you’re already married, you may experience a trying period with your partner, one that tests your relationship and your commitment to them. With Saturn in Scorpio, Taurus, the main lesson is about learning how you feel about commitment, what it means for you, and having more committed relationships in your life. You’re definitely not up for anything that’s casual or superficial. You want to really be close with people, and won’t settle for anything less (and if you do settle for anything less, you’ll be miserable). Any relationships you have that aren’t healthy for you will likely be eliminated over the next couple of years. While it may be upsetting to you initially, long-term it’s the best thing for you, and you should emerge from this period with a stronger sense of what you want from your loved ones, and stronger relationships with those that stick around. You’ll also likely forge a stronger relationship with yourself, if you tend to put other people first or put too much stock in being in a relationship. You have to love yourself first, and if you don’t, Saturn will force you. GEMINI Saturn in Scorpio for Gemini could bring up issues with work. You may find your work environment less satisfying, too stifling, boring, and you want a change. A change could be forced upon you and you lose your job, or you could feel more insecure about whether or not you can keep your job during this time. Basically, with Saturn, you always need to make sure that you’re doing the right thing, making the right choices, and being responsible. If you’ve been unhappy with your work life, if you chose a job for the wrong reasons, if you haven’t been behaving responsibly with your work duties, then you’re going to have problems. Conversely, if you’ve been smart and responsible, maybe working hard towards having a particular job, then you could actually get it with Saturn in Scorpio. Saturn rewards hard work and smart planning. With Saturn here, you could also see issues creep up with your health, so again, if you’re not living a healthy lifestyle, you could see problems. Smokers, drinkers, and binge-eaters beware. Saturn will want you to be as healthy as you can be, so this is a good time for taking on a healthier lifestyle, and any issues that arise will be to force you to be smarter with your health. If you do, you’ll emerge from this period a lean, mean, ass-kicking machine. CANCER Saturn in Scorpio for Cancer impacts the love of all kinds that you have in your life. If you’re single, you’ll feel less like casual dating and want to have real, committed love from someone. You won’t be able to have a superficial relationship with anyone. If you’re attached, you’ll either want more commitment in your relationship and grow closer together, or you’ll find that it’s not what you thought it was or not what you really want and things end. You may need to learn self-love if you’re not good to yourself. If you have children, you’ll experience serious problems with them if you haven’t been a good parent. You can feel less inspired by your hobbies, and give them up temporarily, instead wanting to be more serious. Saturn can take the love right out of your life and make you feel alone here. If that happens to you, it’s because you haven’t been doing things right. You haven’t treated your loved ones well, you’ve allowed your loved ones to treat you poorly, you’ve allowed other people to walk all over you, you’ve picked all the wrong people to be close to for all the wrong reasons, you haven’t been true to yourself or treated yourself with care. When it’s over in a couple of years, you should feel a greater self-love, and most importantly, you’ll know what love is for you. That’s essentially the purpose of this Saturn transit. Those of you under 30 will likely be affected the most, and this is often the time when you stop behaving like an idiot when it comes to love and have more grown up relationships. If you’ve done the right thing all along and already know all about love, then this transit could help you bring more love into your life that is deep, profound, and makes you better. LEO Saturn in Scorpio for Leo brings about issues with your home and family. If you haven’t been taking care of your home, it’ll start falling apart. If you’re in over your head, circumstances may force you out of it. If you have underlying issues that you haven’t wanted to face with your family, they’ll be brought out into the light and you’ll have to deal with them. Saturn makes you confront the things you don’t want to confront to make you grow as a person. Whatever isn’t right with your home or family, he’ll try to make you fix, and it’s usually unpleasant. The goal is to make you have a solid sense of what family means, is, and should be for you. This transit may be especially hard for you because Saturn is lighting up your spiritual foundation in Scorpio. It’s the very basis of your life and self, the core of who you are and what your life is built on, the roots of the tree. If the roots are rotting, what happens to the tree? That’s what you have to think about with your life with Saturn in Scorpio. If the roots of your life are rotting, you’re going to have to fix that. Fighting against it will only make it much worse. Going with it should allow you to come out of this period with a rock solid inner foundation that gives you an incredible strength as you move forward with the rest of your life. VIRGO While the energy of Saturn tends to frustrate most people, Virgo is a sign that doesn’t mind it as much. You understand that everything worth having requires hard work, discipline, planning, and sacrifice, so Saturn isn’t as hard for you to deal with as it is for other signs. With Saturn in Scorpio for Virgo, you’ll have to deal with issues with communicating. If you’re normally someone who keeps it all in, he’ll make you unload. If you’re normally someone who unloads, he’ll make you keep it all in. If you have difficulty with reading or writing, he’ll make you improve. If you have something like a speech impediment, you’ll have to work on it. Some people may even develop speech impediments during this transit, but it should go away when it’s done. Children with this transit can be diagnosed with a learning disability. Your mind and how you treat it will be important; if you abuse it, you’ll suffer. Some may suffer from mental illness during this transit as well, and it would be from living in your head or not confronting mental abuse/neglect/instability/trauma. If you have a sibling, any issues you have with them or they have with you come out. This transit came force you to mend any issues and have a stronger relationship, or sever ties completely if it’s too unhealthy. You may also find all manner of electronics and technology breaking down on you constantly, from your computer to your cell phone to your car. You could have trouble with short trips, getting into accidents, always getting lost, or developing motion sickness. You could have problems come up in your neighborhood or with a neighbor. If you’re a writer, you’ll need to watch for writer’s block. In general, Saturn in Scorpio is probably going to play with your head, and the severity will depend on your current mental state. If you’re a mentally healthy, happy, stable person, then you can use this transit to strengthen that even more. If you’re not, be prepared. LIBRA Saturn in Scorpio for Libra means your focus will be on your finances for the new couple of years. You may feel like you don’t have enough money, even if you do. You’ll be more insecure about your financial situation, no matter how rich or how poor you actually are. You’ll work harder to secure your financial future and make plans to improve your financial status. You may take on more work solely for the purpose of making more money. If you’re someone who has been terrible with money, built up a lot of debt, been reckless and irresponsible, you may pay for it now with bankruptcy, foreclosure, or creditors never letting you breathe. This is a period where you need to be a saver, not a spender, and those of you who are already frugal may become downright cheap, especially when it comes to items that aren’t completely necessary. If you’re responsible when it comes to your finances, then you can build up your financial security even more and set yourself up well for your future. This is great for long-term financial planning. You’ll also work on your values and value system. You’ll need to look at the value system you’ve taken on and assess whether or not it’s really working well for you. If your values are destructive, Saturn will force you to see it, and it won’t be pretty. Saturn may also try put some focus on your self-esteem during this time. If you have low self-esteem, he might make you feel even worse for a while, trying to bring you down completely so you can build yourself back up stronger. Confidence in general will likely be lower though, until the end of this transit, when you feel more confident and in control. SCORPIO Saturn in Scorpio for Scorpios will be big. Whenever Saturn moves into your sign, its more pronounced for you than everyone else. The energy of Saturn isn’t uncomfortable for you because you’re okay with intensity, depth, seriousness, and changes. With Saturn in your sign, change is the main theme over the next couple of years. It’s all about looking at yourself in the cold light of day, facing the reality of who you’ve let yourself become, and seeing all of the flaws. You have to take a hard, honest assessment of yourself. Everything that you’ve been irresponsible with, you’ll pay for. Everything you’ve been avoiding, you’ll have to confront. All of the things you’ve kept from yourself, you’ll be forced to deal with. This is a time for you to become truly responsible, mature, hard-working, and focused. When Saturn was in Libra, you had the opportunity to get rid of a lot to make room for the new ventures you can begin with Saturn in Scorpio. The positive manifestation of this transit is if you got rid of all of that baggage when Saturn was in Libra and you begin new, long-term projects and goals now. You’re embarking on a new cycle of your life, and you have the chance to start over. If you run from that, Saturn will punish you. If you continue to be reckless, Saturn will punish you. If you refuse to work hard and smart, Saturn will punish you. You have to make yourself the best self you can be, and make your life as good as you can make it. If you do that, the outcome will far exceed your expectations. Saturn gives big rewards when you work with him. SAGITTARIUS Saturn in Scorpio for Sagittarius means you’re in for a heavy period over the next couple of years. This isn’t an easy transit, but it doesn’t have to be terrible if you don’t fight it. You need to look at your life and honestly evaluate what you need to get rid of, what isn’t working and hasn’t been for a long time, what has become unhealthy, or what serves no purpose except to hold you back. This could be physical things, items you hold on to, a place, something with your physical body (like weight); it could be mental things, disruptive thought patterns; or, most likely, it’s mental things, with old emotional issues and baggage, unhealthy life patterns you keep repeating over and over again, and general unhealthy emotional states. Some of you may suffer from mental illness, especially depression. This would be a manifestation for those who fight it, continuing to repress everything as much as they can. You can’t hide anything during this transit, especially from yourself. Anything hidden will be dealt with. If you manifest this transit positively, you can work through old issues and let them go, allowing you to move on without that baggage anymore. All kinds of realizations can be made, and real clarity can be had. This is a great time for therapy, and you can make great strides if you actually try to work on what you need to let go of. It’s preparation for when Saturn enters your sign in a few years, because if you can clear out everything that needs to be gone now, you leave plenty of room for you to bring on new ventures and basically start a new life when Saturn moves into Sagittarius. That transit can be a great one for you, unless you fight Saturn in Scorpio now. Then you won’t get to start a new, baggage-free life, and will have more consequences to deal with. This is one of the harder locations for Saturn to be in for you, but it comes with one of the biggest rewards when the transit is over if you work with him. CAPRICORN Saturn in Scorpio for Capricorn signals a difficult time for your hopes, dreams, and wishes for the future. Many of you may give up on your dreams for one reason or another, and believe that dreaming isn’t something you should be doing because it isn’t logical, practical, or attainable. Something could happen that puts your dreams on hold, and you feel like you’ll never get there. What you should do is if you’re questioning, or if something happens that stalls your plans, reassess the situation and see what you’re not being realistic about. It’s likely that the dream isn’t unrealistic, but something about your plan is and needs to be tweaked. If you can make your plans smart and keep working hard instead of giving up, Saturn will reward you. This is also a difficult time for friendships, and for many of you, one or more of your current friends will leave your life for one reason or another. While it’s distressing at first, know that any that do exit your life do so for a reason. They weren’t as nice to you as you thought, they didn’t care as much about you as they should, they took you for granted, they weren’t good people, etc. You should emerge from this period with a new perspective on what it means to be a friend, what you want from your friends, and what your expectations are from a friendship. Any friendships that make it through this period will be stronger and long-lasting. AQUARIUS Saturn in Scorpio for Aquarius means big things for your career, life path, and life foundation. If you’ve been working hard and smart, Saturn will reward you in your career, and you can realize your life’s ambitions over the next couple of years. If you haven’t been working hard and smart, you can have setbacks, have to switch careers, and pay for irresponsibility. You can lose your entire career if you haven’t been doing things right, or reach new levels if you have. It’s up to you. You’ll put more focus on your life path, the direction your life is going in. If you’ve been trying to take things in the right direction, it will continue going smoothly, and you’ll make headway. If you haven’t, you may feel more lost than ever, unsure of what to do and how to change it. By the end of this transit, you should have a clearer idea of what you want from your life long-term, and you can make a solid, realistic plan for yourself. The foundation you’ve built your life on will also be tested, and if you’ve built a house of cards, it will come tumbling down, along with everything else. If you’re on shaky ground, it’ll give underneath you. If you’ve been trying to strengthen your foundation, you’ll make it stronger with this transit, and by the time it’s over, you can have a foundation so strong, it’ll endure for a long time. Also watch for issues coming up with parents, bosses, and mentors. You also may need to confront your issues regarding tradition/convention/the norm vs. unconventional/originality/eccentricity. Aquarians love to challenge social norms and go against the grain, but with Saturn in Scorpio, you may be forced to confront why you feel that way, what made you this way, and to gain some tolerance of the norm. PISCES Saturn in Scorpio for Pisces means you’ll have to deal with your beliefs. Those of you who have strong beliefs that are destructive or based on something that isn’t real will have your entire belief structure torn down. Fanatics are moved to question in ways they never did before, and you’re forced to open your eyes and not be a blind follower. Even if you’re a nonbeliever, you may have issues, questioning your non-belief. If you’re not one of these people and are solid with your beliefs, you’ll become one with them even more, and they’ll contribute to a stronger foundation for your life, as well as a stronger sense of self. This transit could also impact learning, if you’re in school or going to head back to school. Some of you may decide to go back during this transit to help improve your life, especially if you were someone who didn’t take school seriously when you were young. Any lawbreakers may have to pay the piper now, and if you have to deal with the law, be prepared for a long battle. You could use the law against someone, or someone may use it against you.
