Saturn is gearing up to enter into a new sign starting October 5th, 2012. Saturn in the sign of Scorpio isn't terrible for Saturn; the two are kindred spirits, in a way. Saturn transits tend to break things down to force you to learn lessons, in an effort to make you smarter and have a more fulfilled life. People think Saturn is a terrible guy because he makes you learn the hard way. If we weren't so stubbornly attached to living irresponsibly and doing the wrong thing all of the time, his transits wouldn't be so bad.
In general, the overall effects of Saturn in Scorpio focuses on the two main things Scorpio rules: transformations and other people's money. When you break down the two, you get a lot of possibilities. With transformations, this rules drastic physical, mental, and emotion changes, from sex and pregnancy (the beginning of physical life) to death (the end of physical life). Changes will be in the air and taking over everywhere. With Saturn in Libra, you saw a lot of oppressed people rising up against their oppressors because Libra rules equality, fairness, and justice. Scorpio rules power and control, so there will still be fighting between people trying to have the control. People who have been controlled for too long will fight back with force. Oppressors will pay for their behavior. Sexuality becomes a focus, and the consequences of being irresponsible. The last time Saturn was in Scorpio was the 1980's, when HIV/AIDS became prominent. STD's could become more of a problem if we don't get our act together and become more responsible. We may do more to prevent the spread of STD's, especially in poorer nations. People will also want to have deeper connections. Scorpio can't stand superficiality, and is a sign that requires depth. We'll take that more seriously with Saturn. Commitment must be made stronger, and those who go through relationships without any cares will have to care. As for other people's money, this covers debts, loans, taxes, inheritances, and joint finances. This fits pretty well given what the world economy is going through. Those nations who try to be the most responsible will be able to get their country back on track and prosper, though it may take some pain. Those nations who don't will suffer even worse than they are now. Personal debt has been high and is part of the reason why spending has been down. As a whole, people will straighten out their debt once and for all. Let's hope governments follow suit. Creditors could see more restrictions placed upon them, and if you think it's hard to get a loan now, it'll likely be even tougher. Some random thoughts: - Scorpio is a secretive sign, so Saturn here could further complicate our already complicated privacy issues, with people fighting to tear down the measures already taken against us, or governments taking even more of our privacy away. - Saturn rules politicians, and Scorpio rules sex, so I thought I'd throw out there that we could see more prominent sex scandals with our politicians (as if we haven't seen it all already - maybe we haven't). - Things may go smoother when Jupiter is in fellow water sign Cancer starting next summer. It could also put more focus on the home (our personal homes and our countries) since Cancer rules the home (and the housing market should really improve with that transit). - We could all seem a little morbid during this time, with more focus put on death (Scorpio-ruled) and the darker side of life that people usually shy away from. This aspect is one that will be powerful and profound. Whether that's positive or negative will depend on us as individuals, societies, and nations. The intensity it will bring may be overwhelming, and there's a heaviness with this transit that may weigh on the world.
