November 13th 2012 Solar Eclipse in Scorpio
A solar eclipse occurs at 8:02AM ET at 21 degree 57 minutes of Scorpio. A solar eclipse is essentially an amped up new moon. In Scorpio, we'll be feeling good with the transformations that are taking place in our lives and in the world around us. Since Mercury will be retrograde at the same time and will enter Scorpio the next day, that optimism may not be very realistic. We can face sobering reality with more ease though. In fact, we want reality, no fluff or fantasy. Scorpio also rules other people's money, which could show some positive developments as far as individual's and government's financial problems. Overall, this will be an eclipse to watch, because it's in the middle of Mercury retrograde, and joins Saturn now in Scorpio as well. Should be interesting. If you're a Scorpio Sun, Moon, or late Scorpio rising, you may feels the effects of this moon most.
November 28th 2012 Lunar Eclipse in Gemini
A lunar eclipse occurs at 9:46AM ET at 6 degrees 41 minutes of Gemini. A lunar eclipse is essentially an amped up full moon. In Gemini, we could see more revolting amongst the youth. They're tired of the way things are going, and want it to end, now. Sobering news could come out regarding the state of our youth, schools, education, and communities. You could see more fighting between neighbors and neighborhoods warring. Words spoken are dripping with emotion, and we may get more upset over the things that people say. This eclipse is sextile (easy aspect) transit (moving) Uranus in Aries, so there could be some positive unexpected news or sudden developments that come along with this eclipse. If you're a Gemini Sun, Moon, or rising, you may feel the effects of this moon most.

ARIES OCTOBER 2012
Venus enters earth sign Virgo on October 3rd, and work relations go more smoothly. You may make improvements to your work environment, and if you’re looking for a new job, you could have an easier time finding one. You need to watch for getting lazy with work and not wanting to get things done in a timely manner. If you work in an artistic field, you could be more inspired. This is also a good time for improving your health (though you do need to watch for a major sweet tooth) and dealing with pets. Venus moves in Libra, the sign opposing yours, on October 28th, and you want to spend more time with loved ones, the people that you’re closest to, and spend less time alone. You can mend any problems in your relationships, and it’s good for forming a new partnership or negotiating contracts.
Saturn enters a new sign on October 5th, the sign of Scorpio. With Saturn in Scorpio for Aries, if you haven’t been responsible when it comes to other people’s money (debts, loans, taxes, joint finances), then Saturn will make you pay. If you need to deal with any of that, you’ll have a harder time and it’ll take longer. You’ll also have to deal with unresolved issues that you’ve shoved away deep inside of you. Those issues will come out and create problems for you if you continue to refuse to face them. Saturn in this sign can be quite trying for you, Aries, so it’s best to be prepared for a long couple of years. Towards the end, things should improve, and if you want to work positively with this placement, then you need to strip down to your soul, get real with yourself, and work hard to transform yourself for the better. If you do that, Saturn will end up rewarding you. If you don’t, he’ll punish you.
Mercury also enters Scorpio on the same day, October 5th. You’ll become more focused on serious subjects, want to dig deeper into people and ideas, and not be satisfied with accepting things as-is. You’ll think more about how you can change yourself and your life, and it’s good for planning changes. The Sun joins Mercury and Saturn in Scorpio on October 22nd, and you’ll feel most like yourself when you’re being researching, exploring taboo subjects, and behaving seriously. You won’t feel as light-hearted or enthusiastic as usual.
Mars, your ruler, enters fellow fire sign Sagittarius on October 6th, and you’ll have more energy and drive for learning new things and expanding your view of the world. You want to go to places you’ve never been, meet people from foreign lands, and explore ideas you’ve never thought of. You feel more adventurous and more strongly tied to your beliefs. Mercury leaves Scorpio and joins Mars in Sagittarius on October 29th. Your mind lightens and becomes more optimistic, and you’re more enthusiastic about learning, writing, and publishing. If you’re a writer, this is a good time for you. This can also be good for dealing with contracts.
Jupiter turns retrograde on October 4th. A retrograde occurs when a sign appears to be moving backwards from our view here on Earth. In Gemini, you may feel like you have a harder time grasping new ideas, or that there is a lack of them for you. Your mind may slow down and you have a harder time with intellectual pursuits. Those of you in school may see a small decline. If you have a sibling, you could have minor problems, or issues could come up with a neighbor or in your neighborhood. If you’re already married, you may experience a trying period with your partner, one that tests your relationship and your commitment to them. With Saturn in Scorpio, Taurus, the main lesson is about learning how you feel about commitment, what it means for you, and having more committed relationships in your life. You’re definitely not up for anything that’s casual or superficial. You want to really be close with people, and won’t settle for anything less (and if you do settle for anything less, you’ll be miserable). Any relationships you have that aren’t healthy for you will likely be eliminated over the next couple of years. While it may be upsetting to you initially, long-term it’s the best thing for you, and you should emerge from this period with a stronger sense of what you want from your loved ones, and stronger relationships with those that stick around. You’ll also likely forge a stronger relationship with yourself, if you tend to put other people first or put too much stock in being in a relationship. You have to love yourself first, and if you don’t, Saturn will force you.

If you’ve been unhappy with your work life, if you chose a job for the wrong reasons, if you haven’t been behaving responsibly with your work duties, then you’re going to have problems. Conversely, if you’ve been smart and responsible, maybe working hard towards having a particular job, then you could actually get it with Saturn in Scorpio. You can feel less inspired by your hobbies, and give them up temporarily, instead wanting to be more serious. Saturn can take the love right out of your life and make you feel alone here. If that happens to you, it’s because you haven’t been doing things right. You haven’t treated your loved ones well, you’ve allowed your loved ones to treat you poorly, you’ve allowed other people to walk all over you, you’ve picked all the wrong people to be close to for all the wrong reasons, you haven’t been true to yourself or treated yourself with care. Everything that you’ve been irresponsible with, you’ll pay for. Everything you’ve been avoiding, you’ll have to confront. All of the things you’ve kept from yourself, you’ll be forced to deal with. This is a time for you to become truly responsible, mature, hard-working, and focused. When Saturn was in Libra, you had the opportunity to get rid of a lot to make room for the new ventures you can begin with Saturn in Scorpio. The positive manifestation of this transit is if you got rid of all of that baggage when Saturn was in Libra and you begin new, long-term projects and goals now. You’re embarking on a new cycle of your life, and you have the chance to start over. If you run from that, Saturn will punish you. If you continue to be reckless, Saturn will punish you. If you refuse to work hard and smart, Saturn will punish you. You have to make yourself the best self you can be, and make your life as good as you can make it. If you do that, the outcome will far exceed your expectations. Saturn gives big rewards when you work with him.
Mercury also enters your sign on October 5th, and your mind is more active, you have more communications, you want to learn something new, and you’re more curious and sociable. The Sun enters your sign on October 22nd, and you have greater vitality and strength, want to put yourself out there in the spotlight, crave attention, and feel more gregarious and warm. Happy birthday to October-born Scorpios!
Mars enters Sagittarius on October 6th, and you have more focus on your finances. This is a good time to make more money, and you may have many opportunities to do so, almost like luck. You need to watch your spending as well, because money could burn a hole in your pocket. Your self esteem should be higher, and you want to increase your worth. Mercury leaves your sign and enters Sagittarius on October 29th, and you make more plans for your budget, spend money on technology or using technology, and get financial advice.
Jupiter turns retrograde in Gemini on October 4th. A planet is retrograde when it appears to be moving backwards from our vantage point here on Earth. Changes you’re trying to make may go slower now, and you may find subtle resistance to any changes you try to make. You may also have less opportunities to settle any debts, loans, or tax or financial disputes.
A new moon in Libra occurs on October 15th, and you can release old baggage, making way for new beginnings. You may find out a new secret, or get an opportunity for work behind-the-scenes. A full moon occurs in Taurus, the sign opposing yours, on October 29th. You may see a lot of action happening with your close relationships. SAGITTARIUS OCTOBER 2012
Venus enters Virgo on October 3rd, and you may find things working out for you easier with your ambitions and career. You feel better about the life path that you’ve laid out for yourself. Dealings with parents, bosses, and mentors go well. You also present yourself well, more aware of your image and how you come across, and try to present yourself with grace and charm. Venus moves into Libra on October 28th, and you have an easier time dealing with your friends, making new friends, groups you belong to, joining new groups, causes you’re working towards, and your dreams for your future.
On October 5th, Saturn moves into a new sign, the sign of Scorpio, which is the sign just before yours. Saturn in Scorpio for Sagittarius means you’re in for a heavy period over the next couple of years. This isn’t an easy transit, but it doesn’t have to be terrible if you don’t fight it. You need to look at your life and honestly evaluate what you need to get rid of, what isn’t working and hasn’t been for a long time, what has become unhealthy, or what serves no purpose except to hold you back. This could be physical things, items you hold on to, a place, something with your physical body (like weight); it could be mental things, disruptive thought patterns; or, most likely, it’s mental things, with old emotional issues and baggage, unhealthy life patterns you keep repeating over and over again, and general unhealthy emotional states. Some of you may suffer from mental illness, especially depression. This would be a manifestation for those who fight it, continuing to repress everything as much as they can. You can’t hide anything during this transit, especially from yourself. Anything hidden will be dealt with. If you manifest this transit positively, you can work through old issues and let them go, allowing you to move on without that baggage anymore. All kinds of realizations can be made, and real clarity can be had. This is a great time for therapy, and you can make great strides if you actually try to work on what you need to let go of. It’s preparation for when Saturn enters your sign in a few years, because if you can clear out everything that needs to be gone now, you leave plenty of room for you to bring on new ventures and basically start a new life when Saturn moves into Sagittarius. That transit can be a great one for you, unless you fight Saturn in Scorpio now. Then you won’t get to start a new, baggage-free life, and will have more consequences to deal with. This is one of the harder locations for Saturn to be in for you, but it comes with one of the biggest rewards when the transit is over if you work with him.
Mercury also enters Scorpio on October 5th, and you keep things to yourself, more shy about sharing your opinions and thoughts. You think best on your own, and find being around others to be mentally draining. You may find out a secret. The Sun enters Scorpio on October 22nd, and you feel best when you’re alone. You need more alone time to recharge and maintain your strength. You do your best work in the background and want to stay out of the spotlight.
Mars enters your sign, Sagittarius, on October 6th. Your energy increases, you feel more enthusiastic and want to try more new things, though you may not stick with anything for very long. You’re more impulsive, have a shorter temper, and need to watch for accidents and headaches, especially if you don’t have an outlet for the energy. Make sure you’re keeping yourself as busy as possible. Mercury leaves Scorpio and joins Mars in your sign on October 29th, and your mind will become more active as well. You’ll be more engaging, have more communications, and have a lot on your mind. You’ll need both physical and mental outlets for all of this energy.

You may start a new writing project, or begin a new course. Venus leaves Virgo and enters Libra on October 28th, and dealings go smoother with your career. Any work you do should be received well. If you work in a creative or beauty field, things go even better for you. Just watch for getting lazy and squandering the energy. Do more work, and you’ll have more rewards.
On October 5th, Saturn, your ruler, enters a new sign, water sign Scorpio, where he will stay for the next couple of years. Saturn in Scorpio for Capricorn signals a difficult time for your hopes, dreams, and wishes for the future. Many of you may give up on your dreams for one reason or another, and believe that dreaming isn’t something you should be doing because it isn’t logical, practical, or attainable. Something could happen that puts your dreams on hold, and you feel like you’ll never get there. What you should do is if you’re questioning, or if something happens that stalls your plans, reassess the situation and see what you’re not being realistic about. It’s likely that the dream isn’t unrealistic, but something about your plan is and needs to be tweaked. If you can make your plans smart and keep working hard instead of giving up, Saturn will reward you. This is also a difficult time for friendships, and for many of you, one or more of your current friends will leave your life for one reason or another. While it’s distressing at first, know that any that do exit your life do so for a reason. They weren’t as nice to you as you thought, they didn’t care as much about you as they should, they took you for granted, they weren’t good people, etc. You should emerge from this period with a new perspective on what it means to be a friend, what you want from your friends, and what your expectations are from a friendship. Any friendships that make it through this period will be stronger and long-lasting.

You embrace your individuality and aren’t as tied to convention as you usually are.
Mars enters Sagittarius on October 6th, and your energy is lower. You don’t have as much drive as usual, and it takes more work to get things done. You could get sick, so be good to your immune system. You find other people to be draining, and need to spend time alone to rejuvenate yourself. Mercury leaves Scorpio and joins Mars in Sagittarius on October 29th, and you become more quiet and soft-spoken. You keep your thoughts to yourself and do your best thinking alone.

On October 5th, Saturn begins a tour through a new sign, water sign Scorpio. Saturn in Scorpio for Aquarius means big things for your career, life path, and life foundation. If you’ve been working hard and smart, Saturn will reward you in your career, and you can realize your life’s ambitions over the next couple of years. If you haven’t been working hard and smart, you can have setbacks, have to switch careers, and pay for irresponsibility. You can lose your entire career if you haven’t been doing things right, or reach new levels if you have. It’s up to you. You’ll put more focus on your life path, the direction your life is going in. If you’ve been trying to take things in the right direction, it will continue going smoothly, and you’ll make headway. If you haven’t, you may feel more lost than ever, unsure of what to do and how to change it. By the end of this transit, you should have a clearer idea of what you want from your life long-term, and you can make a solid, realistic plan for yourself. The foundation you’ve built your life on will also be tested, and if you’ve built a house of cards, it will come tumbling down, along with everything else. If you’re on shaky ground, it’ll give underneath you. If you’ve been trying to strengthen your foundation, you’ll make it stronger with this transit, and by the time it’s over, you can have a foundation so strong, it’ll endure for a long time. Also watch for issues coming up with parents, bosses, and mentors. You also may need to confront your issues regarding tradition/convention/the norm vs. unconventional/originality/eccentricity. Saturn will move into a new sign on October 5th, fellow water sign Scorpio, to stay for the next couple of years. Saturn in Scorpio for Pisces means you’ll have to deal with your beliefs. Those of you who have strong beliefs that are destructive or based on something that isn’t real will have your entire belief structure torn down. Fanatics are moved to question in ways they never did before, and you’re forced to open your eyes and not be a blind follower. Even if you’re a nonbeliever, you may have issues, questioning your non-belief. If you’re not one of these people and are solid with your beliefs, you’ll become one with them even more, and they’ll contribute to a stronger foundation for your life, as well as a stronger sense of self. A new moon occurs on October 15th in Libra, and you could complete a transformation that makes your life better. You could settle a debt, get a loan or inheritance, or figure out your joint finances. Astrology and Why You Love What You Love
I love thigh-high tights and stockings. It's one of my things. I hate full tights, which is odd because I've always been pretty thin, but I still find them too binding, and really hate binding clothes. But I love tights, so enter thigh-highs. They're a natural extension of the sock love I had growing up (I was obsessed with red socks for a long time, and saw them as my secret power source). The other day, I was ordering some more from Sock Dreams, a site I lurve (if you're obsessed with socks and tights, you have to lurve them too), and I was struck with the idea to write a post about why you love the things that you love from an astrological standpoint, because we're all into different things, as different as our natal charts, and my socks and tights obsession is a good example to use.
I'm a Libra Sun, so something fashion-related makes sense. I'm not really a girly-girl though, so pink skirts certainly wouldn't fit the bill. I have a Pisces Moon, and Pisces rules feet, so socks would fit well. With my Venus in Virgo, I love practical items, and it's hard to get more practical than a sock. Add to that my Jupiter in Aquarius, which makes me drawn to the unusual, and I don't think a socks/tights obsession is entirely normal (but perfectly healthy . . . right?), and Aquarius rules your lower legs. And as much as I love and wear black tights (Pluto on my ascendant), my favorites are color, lace, and stripes.
So the formula? Sun + Moon + Venus + Jupiter = your loves. What are yours?
The basics: A retrograde occurs when a planet appears to be moving backwards from our vantage point here on Earth. It isn't actually moving backwards, it just appears that way. Mercury turns retrograde most often because it's nearest to us, about 3-4 times per year, and lasts for several weeks. When a planet retrogrades, what that planet rules tends to be thrown off, along with what the sign it's retrograding in rules.
With Mercury retrograde, we experience a shadow and a storm. The shadow period starts when Mercury first hits the point in the zodiac it will turn direct at, and ends when it last hits the point in the zodiac it will turn retrograde at. Most people don't feel the effects of Mercury retrograde until it enters the storm period though. The storm period of Mercury retrograde is when Mercury is moving at its slowest, less than 40 minutes per day. Mercury is a fast-moving planet and hates it when he's moving slowly. There's usually two storm periods, one around the time Mercury turns retrograde, and one around when it turns direct.
The shadow of this Mercury retrograde begins October 18th and ends December 14th, lasting eight weeks. The first storm period will be from November 1st - 11th, and the second will be from November 24th - December 1st. The exact retrograde begins November 6th at 6:04PM ET and ends November 26th at 5:48PM ET.
This retrograde begins in Sagittarius, and it'll be the last one in fire signs for a few years. Mercury turns retrograde early in the sign at 4 degrees, so November-born Sagittarians will feel the beginning of this retrograde most. This won't be a good time for schools/learning, especially colleges and universities. Travel could be impacted, with more delays/cancellations than usual, or something strange happening that halts travel. There may be more fighting amongst people of different cultures, clashing of beliefs. We could see a scandal with a writer or in the publishing industry. Legal debates could be going on, reconsidering different laws and whether or not they should stand.
Mercury retrogrades backwards into Scorpio on November 14th. Scorpio rules other people's money (like taxes, debts, loans, inheritances, joint finances) and transformations (like death, sex, pregnancy). Now the thing with this part is that Saturn is already in Scorpio by this time as well, so the problems that come up may be even bigger, as a result of irresponsibility. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see a country or two collapse economically (or come close to it). This retrograde ends at 18 degrees Scorpio, so those Scorpios born around November 8th - 12th may feel the turn direct most.
For the rest of you, check the house(s) Mercury will be retrograding in of your own natal chart, and any aspects Mercury will make during its retrograde to your natal planets, to fully understand how it will impact you personally.
If you have Mercury retrograde in your natal or progressed chart, you may not feel the worst of this. Those individuals generally don't experience the difficulties of the retrograde because it feels more natural to them. Of course, chances are everyone else around them doesn't have the same aspect, so they can still experience difficulties brought on by others.
