November 13th 2012 Solar Eclipse in Scorpio A solar eclipse occurs at 8:02AM ET at 21 degree 57 minutes of Scorpio. A solar eclipse is essentially an amped up new moon. In Scorpio, we'll be feeling good with the transformations that are taking place in our lives and in the world around us. Since Mercury will be retrograde at the same time and will enter Scorpio the next day, that optimism may not be very realistic. We can face sobering reality with more ease though. In fact, we want reality, no fluff or fantasy. Scorpio also rules other people's money, which could show some positive developments as far as individual's and government's financial problems. Overall, this will be an eclipse to watch, because it's in the middle of Mercury retrograde, and joins Saturn now in Scorpio as well. Should be interesting. If you're a Scorpio Sun, Moon, or late Scorpio rising, you may feels the effects of this moon most. November 28th 2012 Lunar Eclipse in Gemini A lunar eclipse occurs at 9:46AM ET at 6 degrees 41 minutes of Gemini. A lunar eclipse is essentially an amped up full moon. In Gemini, we could see more revolting amongst the youth. They're tired of the way things are going, and want it to end, now. Sobering news could come out regarding the state of our youth, schools, education, and communities. You could see more fighting between neighbors and neighborhoods warring. Words spoken are dripping with emotion, and we may get more upset over the things that people say. This eclipse is sextile (easy aspect) transit (moving) Uranus in Aries, so there could be some positive unexpected news or sudden developments that come along with this eclipse. If you're a Gemini Sun, Moon, or rising, you may feel the effects of this moon most. General horoscopes are always meant for entertainment purposes only. ARIES OCTOBER 2012 Venus enters earth sign Virgo on October 3rd, and work relations go more smoothly. You may make improvements to your work environment, and if you’re looking for a new job, you could have an easier time finding one. You need to watch for getting lazy with work and not wanting to get things done in a timely manner. If you work in an artistic field, you could be more inspired. This is also a good time for improving your health (though you do need to watch for a major sweet tooth) and dealing with pets. Venus moves in Libra, the sign opposing yours, on October 28th, and you want to spend more time with loved ones, the people that you’re closest to, and spend less time alone. You can mend any problems in your relationships, and it’s good for forming a new partnership or negotiating contracts. Saturn enters a new sign on October 5th, the sign of Scorpio. With Saturn in Scorpio for Aries, if you haven’t been responsible when it comes to other people’s money (debts, loans, taxes, joint finances), then Saturn will make you pay. If you need to deal with any of that, you’ll have a harder time and it’ll take longer. You’ll also have to deal with unresolved issues that you’ve shoved away deep inside of you. Those issues will come out and create problems for you if you continue to refuse to face them. Saturn in this sign can be quite trying for you, Aries, so it’s best to be prepared for a long couple of years. Towards the end, things should improve, and if you want to work positively with this placement, then you need to strip down to your soul, get real with yourself, and work hard to transform yourself for the better. If you do that, Saturn will end up rewarding you. If you don’t, he’ll punish you. Mercury also enters Scorpio on the same day, October 5th. You’ll become more focused on serious subjects, want to dig deeper into people and ideas, and not be satisfied with accepting things as-is. You’ll think more about how you can change yourself and your life, and it’s good for planning changes. The Sun joins Mercury and Saturn in Scorpio on October 22nd, and you’ll feel most like yourself when you’re being researching, exploring taboo subjects, and behaving seriously. You won’t feel as light-hearted or enthusiastic as usual. Mars, your ruler, enters fellow fire sign Sagittarius on October 6th, and you’ll have more energy and drive for learning new things and expanding your view of the world. You want to go to places you’ve never been, meet people from foreign lands, and explore ideas you’ve never thought of. You feel more adventurous and more strongly tied to your beliefs. Mercury leaves Scorpio and joins Mars in Sagittarius on October 29th. Your mind lightens and becomes more optimistic, and you’re more enthusiastic about learning, writing, and publishing. With Saturn in Scorpio, Taurus, the main lesson is about learning how you feel about commitment, what it means for you, and having more committed relationships in your life. You want to really be close with people, and won’t settle for anything less (and if you do settle for anything less, you’ll be miserable). Any relationships you have that aren’t healthy for you will likely be eliminated over the next couple of years. While it may be upsetting to you initially, long-term it’s the best thing for you, and you should emerge from this period with a stronger sense of what you want from your loved ones, and stronger relationships with those that stick around. You’ll also likely forge a stronger relationship with yourself, if you tend to put other people first or put too much stock in being in a relationship. This is a time for you to become truly responsible, mature, hard-working, and focused. When Saturn was in Libra, you had the opportunity to get rid of a lot to make room for the new ventures you can begin with Saturn in Scorpio. The positive manifestation of this transit is if you got rid of all of that baggage when Saturn was in Libra and you begin new, long-term projects and goals now. You’re embarking on a new cycle of your life, and you have the chance to start over. If you run from that, Saturn will punish you. If you continue to be reckless, Saturn will punish you. If you refuse to work hard and smart, Saturn will punish you. You have to make yourself the best self you can be, and make your life as good as you can make it. If you do that, the outcome will far exceed your expectations. Saturn gives big rewards when you work with him. Mercury also enters your sign on October 5th, and your mind is more active, you have more communications, you want to learn something new, and you’re more curious and sociable. Saturn in Scorpio for Sagittarius means you’re in for a heavy period over the next couple of years. This isn’t an easy transit, but it doesn’t have to be terrible if you don’t fight it. You need to look at your life and honestly evaluate what you need to get rid of, what isn’t working and hasn’t been for a long time, what has become unhealthy, or what serves no purpose except to hold you back. This could be physical things, items you hold on to, a place, something with your physical body (like weight); it could be mental things, disruptive thought patterns; or, most likely, it’s mental things, with old emotional issues and baggage, unhealthy life patterns you keep repeating over and over again, and general unhealthy emotional states. Some of you may suffer from mental illness, especially depression. This would be a manifestation for those who fight it, continuing to repress everything as much as they can. You can’t hide anything during this transit, especially from yourself. Anything hidden will be dealt with. If you manifest this transit positively, you can work through old issues and let them go, allowing you to move on without that baggage anymore. All kinds of realizations can be made, and real clarity can be had. This is a great time for therapy, and you can make great strides if you actually try to work on what you need to let go of. It’s preparation for when Saturn enters your sign in a few years, because if you can clear out everything that needs to be gone now, you leave plenty of room for you to bring on new ventures and basically start a new life when Saturn moves into Sagittarius. That transit can be a great one for you, unless you fight Saturn in Scorpio now. Then you won’t get to start a new, baggage-free life, and will have more consequences to deal with. This is one of the harder locations for Saturn to be in for you, but it comes with one of the biggest rewards when the transit is over if you work with him. Mercury also enters Scorpio on October 5th, and you keep things to yourself, more shy about sharing your opinions and thoughts. Many of you may give up on your dreams for one reason or another, and believe that dreaming isn’t something you should be doing because it isn’t logical, practical, or attainable. Something could happen that puts your dreams on hold, and you feel like you’ll never get there. What you should do is if you’re questioning, or if something happens that stalls your plans, reassess the situation and see what you’re not being realistic about. It’s likely that the dream isn’t unrealistic, but something about your plan is and needs to be tweaked. If you can make your plans smart and keep working hard instead of giving up, Saturn will reward you. This is also a difficult time for friendships, and for many of you, one or more of your current friends will leave your life for one reason or another. While it’s distressing at first, know that any that do exit your life do so for a reason. They weren’t as nice to you as you thought, they didn’t care as much about you as they should, they took you for granted, they weren’t good people, etc. You should emerge from this period with a new perspective on what it means to be a friend, what you want from your friends, and what your expectations are from a friendship. You may complete a project, especially one that is tied to writing, communicating, your community, or school. Something could end for a sibling, in your neighborhood, or with a neighbor. You’re more emotionally tied to your thoughts, and you try to convey them more verbally or through writing. I love thigh-high tights and stockings. It's one of my things. I hate full tights, which is odd because I've always been pretty thin, but I still find them too binding, and really hate binding clothes. But I love tights, so enter thigh-highs. They're a natural extension of the sock love I had growing up (I was obsessed with red socks for a long time, and saw them as my secret power source). The other day, I was ordering some more from Sock Dreams, a site I lurve (if you're obsessed with socks and tights, you have to lurve them too), and I was struck with the idea to write a post about why you love the things that you love from an astrological standpoint, because we're all into different things, as different as our natal charts, and my socks and tights obsession is a good example to use. I'm a Libra Sun, so something fashion-related makes sense. I'm not really a girly-girl though, so pink skirts certainly wouldn't fit the bill. I have a Pisces Moon, and Pisces rules feet, so socks would fit well. With my Venus in Virgo, I love practical items, and it's hard to get more practical than a sock. Add to that my Jupiter in Aquarius, which makes me drawn to the unusual, and I don't think a socks/tights obsession is entirely normal (but perfectly healthy . . . right?), and Aquarius rules your lower legs. And as much as I love and wear black tights (Pluto on my ascendant), my favorites are color, lace, and stripes.
So the formula? Sun + Moon + Venus + Jupiter = your loves. What are yours? The basics: A retrograde occurs when a planet appears to be moving backwards from our vantage point here on Earth. It isn't actually moving backwards, it just appears that way. Mercury turns retrograde most often because it's nearest to us, about 3-4 times per year, and lasts for several weeks. When a planet retrogrades, what that planet rules tends to be thrown off, along with what the sign it's retrograding in rules.
With Mercury retrograde, we experience a shadow and a storm. The shadow period starts when Mercury first hits the point in the zodiac it will turn direct at, and ends when it last hits the point in the zodiac it will turn retrograde at. Most people don't feel the effects of Mercury retrograde until it enters the storm period though. The storm period of Mercury retrograde is when Mercury is moving at its slowest, less than 40 minutes per day. Mercury is a fast-moving planet and hates it when he's moving slowly. There's usually two storm periods, one around the time Mercury turns retrograde, and one around when it turns direct. The shadow of this Mercury retrograde begins October 18th and ends December 14th, lasting eight weeks. The first storm period will be from November 1st - 11th, and the second will be from November 24th - December 1st. The exact retrograde begins November 6th at 6:04PM ET and ends November 26th at 5:48PM ET. This retrograde begins in Sagittarius, and it'll be the last one in fire signs for a few years. Mercury turns retrograde early in the sign at 4 degrees, so November-born Sagittarians will feel the beginning of this retrograde most. This won't be a good time for schools/learning, especially colleges and universities. Travel could be impacted, with more delays/cancellations than usual, or something strange happening that halts travel. There may be more fighting amongst people of different cultures, clashing of beliefs. We could see a scandal with a writer or in the publishing industry. Legal debates could be going on, reconsidering different laws and whether or not they should stand. Mercury retrogrades backwards into Scorpio on November 14th. Scorpio rules other people's money (like taxes, debts, loans, inheritances, joint finances) and transformations (like death, sex, pregnancy). Now the thing with this part is that Saturn is already in Scorpio by this time as well, so the problems that come up may be even bigger, as a result of irresponsibility. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see a country or two collapse economically (or come close to it). This retrograde ends at 18 degrees Scorpio, so those Scorpios born around November 8th - 12th may feel the turn direct most. For the rest of you, check the house(s) Mercury will be retrograding in of your own natal chart, and any aspects Mercury will make during its retrograde to your natal planets, to fully understand how it will impact you personally. If you have Mercury retrograde in your natal or progressed chart, you may not feel the worst of this. Those individuals generally don't experience the difficulties of the retrograde because it feels more natural to them. Of course, chances are everyone else around them doesn't have the same aspect, so they can still experience difficulties brought on by others. |
