Ceres is about to enter a new sign, leaving Taurus (the sign it's naturally connected to) and moving into air sign Gemini. What does this do for us? What is Ceres in astrology?
Ceres is technically a dwarf planet (like Pluto) but in astrology, we call it an asteroid (as it was before the dwarf planet designation). Ceres is super nurturing, supportive, caring, and there for you. I describe it as a supercharged Moon (maybe mixed with a little Venus). You can find Ceres in your own chart on astro.com (in Extended Chart Selection, click on Additional Objects, and select Ceres from the menu).
Ceres in Gemini 2021 - 2022 Dates:
General Impact of Ceres in Gemini:
So Ceres is nourishment and support, and in Gemini, this may mean mentally and in communication. We may need more support for our ideas and plans, and want encouragement with our opinions and thoughts. We may give more support with words, offering more words of encouragement and nurturing others with our words. We can choose our words a little more carefully, and want to use them to help, not hurt.
We may focus more on ideas that lead to greater nourishment and support in life, for ourselves and for others. We can be more active in our neighborhoods and communities, wanting to make them comfortable, supportive places. We may be more active in general when it comes to nurturing and supporting ourselves and others, and open to different ideas to do so. This can be a great time for learning or teaching as this helps us feel more supported. We can grow more confident and comfortable when we're taking in new knowledge and sharing knowledge we have. We may be interested in a variety of things, and the more knowledge we pick up, the more we can feel at ease mentally. Gemini is a dual sign, so we may find two different ways of being supported or giving support, feeling nurtured or being nurturing, and we may have dual focus for what we're supporting at any time. Ceres in Gemini Aspects:
Final Note:
So, Ceres in Gemini is pretty busy! Make sure you're giving your mind lots of attention during this period, and spread lots of words of encouragement :)
Suggested Reading: brush up on Ceres in Taurus Your progressed chart adds one day to your date of birth for every year you've been alive to create a new chart reflective of how you change with age. It can also be used in predictive astrology analysis. Your progressed Venus moves roughly 1 degree per year, and can show how who and what you love changes as you get older. None of us love the same exact things and people our entire lives. Of course this evolves as we evolve. Our wants and needs in relationships and what we're willing to give evolves as well. This can be seen through your progressed Venus. Changing With Progressed Venus
Your progressed Venus will change signs roughly 2-3 times in your life, and will move through 2-3 different natal houses. This shows the changes that you go through when it comes to what you need in relationships, what your relationships look like, who you attract, and your relationships overall.
Big changes can happen in relationships when your progressed Venus is getting ready to change signs. At 29 degrees, your Venus is anaretic, and this can be a time when you want to push for things in relationships before Venus changes signs. Once Venus goes into a new sign, you can feel a shift happening in your relationships. This can take a couple of years to adjust to. It can be similar when your progressed Venus enters a new natal house, and you can see changes happening in your relationships then as well. You may experience major developments in your relationships when your progressed Venus is actually changing houses, generally up to a year before and after. Your progressed Venus can also make aspects to your natal and progressed charts, and this can impact your relationships as well. These aspects can be strong but overarching since they last a couple of years (so they're more in line with transit Neptune or Pluto aspects). It can be hugely significant when your progressed Venus turns retrograde or direct. This is a whole different approach to everything involving others and your relationships, and there can be super major developments around when this happens. The adjustment period may be longer with this. Transits and your Progressed Venus
You can track transit aspects to your natal planets, and you can also track transit aspects to your progressed planets, including your progressed Venus. Since your progressed Venus is ahead of your natal Venus (usually, unless retrograde), this can expand aspects by transit planets as they first hit your natal Venus and then hit your progressed Venus some time later. Might be many years later!
And in some cases, transit aspects to your progressed Venus can last for many years. Progressed Venus and transit Pluto, for example, can move together for 10 or more years if they sync up right. This can be very helpful when it's a beneficial aspect (sextile or trine), but pretty challenging when it's a conjunction, square, or opposition (can sometimes explain reeeeeally long periods alone!). Synastry involving Progressed Venus
You can use your progressed Venus when looking at whether or not you connect with someone, similarly to your natal Venus. This difference is that your progressed Venus is temporary while your natal Venus is permanent. That means connections that occur to your progressed Venus may not stick around once your progressed Venus has moved on, unless you have other natal chart and composite chart connections to make it last. It can be strong while it's in effect, but it needs something else to keep it.
Suggested Reading: The articles in the Love Astrology Series for Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, the 12th house, Chiron, eclipses, retrogrades, the Asteroids of Your Name, and the Lunar Nodes There are thousands of asteroids in astrology, and each link to something specific. Some asteroids link to love and relationships, and one of those asteroids is an asteroid called Amor (number 1221 if you want to look it up), which is an asteroid that rules romance. Amor can show what you need to display romance and affection. Asteroid Amor in the Zodiac Signs:
Aries: With Aries being independent, you may want more of your own freedom to do your own things with Amor in Aries. This can get in the way sometimes though, and you may push a little too much. Someone you can find that delicate balance with, who gives you room but also holds you accountable, can be best for you. When in love, you can be really passionate.
Taurus: With Taurus being the sensual sign, you may want a strong physical connection in love with Amor in Taurus. This might make you confuse sex with love though, so it's important for you to learn the difference. Someone you can have both of those things with, great love and passion, can be best for you. When in love, you can be very affectionate and like to pamper your partner. Gemini: With Gemini being the sign of the mind, you may want a strong mental connection in love with Amor in Gemini. You can get bored with people pretty quickly, so grounding your mind can be important. Playing 200 questions with potential partners isn't the best! Someone who is naturally interesting, intelligent, and curious can be best for you. When in love, you can keep it fresh. Cancer: With Cancer being the sign of emotions, you may want a strong emotional connection in love with Amor in Cancer. You may be a little too much sometimes though, oversharing too soon or acting clingy, and that pushes people away. Giving yourself more self-care and support can be important to avoid that. Someone who is sweet and nurturing can be best for you. When in love, you can be a big cheerleader for your partner. Leo: With Leo being super affectionate, you may want a lot of praise and attention and affection in love with Amor in Leo. This can get demanding though, and you may seem insecure to potential partners. Work on your own confidence so you don't have to seek validation from those you're dating. Someone who is fun-loving, shares your hobbies, and generous can be best for you. When in love, you can be a big-hearted softie. Virgo: With Virgo being the perfectionist sign, you may place high expectations on your partner and relationship in love with Amor in Virgo. This just leads to inevitable disappointment and heartbreak though. Try to figure out why it is that you're trying to check off a list of perfection in the first place. Are you just trying to guard yourself? Someone who is attentive and hard-working can be best for you. When in love, you can do lots of little things for your partner. Libra: With Libra being the sign requiring peace and balance, you may want total harmony and equity in love with Amor in Libra. Equality and respect are a good thing to shoot for, but if you're avoiding conflict to keep the peace and letting big things slide, that adds up over time and leads to the relationship's downfall. Don't run from problems, and don't believe that if you have one the relationship is bad (even the good ones go through bad times!). Someone who is respectful can be best for you. When in love, you can be very considerate. Scorpio: With Scorpio being the intense sign, you may crave major passion and sexual chemistry with Amor in Scorpio. This can go too far though, and you may walk away from something good if the person can't match your insane level of intensity, or you may opt for toxic people and relationships just for the intensity of it. Scorpio being ruler of transformation means there may be a transformation required linked to some deeply-held issues causing this. Someone loyal and strong can be best for you. When in love, you can be all-in. Sagittarius: With Sagittarius being the adventurous sign, you may want adventure and fun in love with Amor in Sagittarius. This can make committing a little hard for you though, since you want freedom to do whatever, whenever. Tackle whatever is causing you to run in the first place. Someone who gives you space but still keeps you interested can be best for you. When in love, you can be passionate and open. Capricorn: With Capricorn being the sign ruling goals, you may want someone you view as successful with Amor in Capricorn. Don't let that be your only criteria, someone successful or with recognition. Responsibilities can also be an issue, and you may take on too much in love, or not enough, and need balance. Someone disciplined, focused, and traditional can be best for you. When in love, you can be fully committed. Aquarius: With Aquarius being the sign of friendships, you may require a foundation of friendship in love with Amor in Aquarius. This can be a good thing, but you may push for freedom a little too much, and use friendship as either an excuse for a lack of passion, or a placeholder for lovers. Someone who gives you the room to fully be yourself, eccentricities and all, can be best for you. In love, you can be loyal and interesting. Pisces: With Pisces being the compassionate sign, you may be very sacrificing and devoted in love with Amor in Pisces. This can go to extremes though, and you may give too much of yourself to others, get manipulated and controlled by those with bad intentions, and go for crazy love just because it feels "destined". Boundaries are incredibly important for you to have healthy love. Someone who can respect your boundaries and see you as your own person can be best for you. In love, you can be gentle and understanding. They connect to the 4 pillars of life, and they pair up, lying on an axis. The Ascendant-Descendant axis is the axis of relationships, and shows how you focus on the self (Ascendant) and focus on others (Descendant). Natal planets aspecting your Ascendant-Descendant axis can impact how you find balance between the two. Planets that are square, which is a hard aspect, can indicate major challenges and blocks you need to work through in order to do that. Natal Planets Square the Ascendant & Descendant:
The Sun: There can be challenges in presenting yourself as you want to, and this can create problems with people you meet. Others may think you’re trying to control them or situations, even when you’re not. You may have a hard time feeling understood or relating to others properly. The block here may be preventing you from becoming more self-aware and managing how you interact with others more diplomatically.
The Moon: There can be challenges in expressing what you truly feel, and how you come across as feeling may not reflect your true feelings. This can get in the way in relationships as it prevents you from feeling secure enough to share what you feel, and also slow you from being able to act on what you want subconsciously. The block here may be preventing you from having good self-confidence, and you may repeat old patterns that keep you on the hamster wheel until you break them. Mercury: There can be challenges with communicating and expressing yourself openly. You may feel misunderstood a lot, and anxious or stumbling over your words. The block here may have to do with embracing open and honest dialogue and being confident in your ability to express yourself so you’re not worried about how others will react to what you think or have to say. If Mercury is retrograde, this is likely tied to the different way you perceive the world, and needing to see that as an asset instead of a liability. Venus: There can be challenges with expressing affectionate feelings properly in relationships, and you may hold back more than you should, or go overboard. This is likely out of feelings of insecurity, and you may hold back out of fear of what they’ll think/do/say, or go overboard out of fear that they’ll leave or think you don’t care. Insecurity tends to be the block here that needs to be worked on. If Venus is retrograde, this can be even more the case. Mars: There can be challenges with being overly aggressive, and this can get you in trouble in relationships as others feel you’re being too pushy or are too quick to become angry. The extra energy with this placement requires a positive outlet, otherwise it can create lots of problems. If Mars is retrograde, you may attract many who want to control you and have difficulties with anger themselves, and this may be a reflection of something you’re holding deep inside. Jupiter: There can be challenges with growing as a person, and you may struggle at times with putting your energy in too many directions so you don’t end up doing as much. There can be difficulties with overdoing anything, and moderation may need to be found. The block here may relate to having a solid sense of both self-esteem and self-awareness, and these can help you to remain in control of yourself and focus the expansive energy properly. Saturn: There can be challenges with being connected with others, and you may feel cut off in some way. You may feel you have to hold back for one reason or another, and don’t allow for complete emotional, mental, or physical connections. You may be overly cautious, and this can stop you from really opening up. Work on trusting yourself, and then it can become easier to trust others. Uranus: There can be challenges with being *too* unusual and out of touch with others. You may present it as a belief that you must be true to yourself and can’t fit in any box, but it may be more like you’re either scared of losing yourself (perhaps a family dynamic, or because you don’t know yourself well enough yet), or you’re scared of intimacy and closeness. Working on whichever block it is can help to create healthier connections. Neptune: There can be challenges with being taken advantage of by others. You can be too vulnerable to deception and manipulation, and want to believe the best in everyone, but this can lead you to be surrounded by people who take everything from you and use you completely. A more solid sense of self is required as knowing who you are can help keep others from projecting so much. Boundaries in relationships are also extremely important for you. Pluto: There can be challenges with power and control in your relationships, and you may want to have all of the power and control or attract people who do. Inequities in your relationships may feel inevitable, and there may be a tendency to dive into obsession or cruelty, or attract people who treat you that way. Issues related to power and control are likely part of the block, and transforming the way you approach relationships may be needed. Chiron: There can be challenges with being wounded by others, or being the one wounding others (usually both). You may need to work on being more open to other people’s opinions and ways of doing things, and not take criticism so much to heart. Build up some solid self-confidence and open up your mind. Lunar Nodes: This can actually tie into blocks with your spiritual, karmic path in life, and you absolutely have to work on finding the balance between the self and others and having overall balance in life. Once this is achieved, this can help to open up your path and free you to find more of your potential and release baggage. Suggested Reading: Planets Square the Natal Imum Coeli & Midheaven Your natal chart is a snapshot of the planets and other bodies and positions in the Zodiac at the moment you were born from the location you were born at. Each part of your chart shows different parts of your personality and life, and you can find your goals with your Midheaven. Also called the Zenith or Medium Coeli (or MC for short), the Midheaven is the highest part of your chart, therefore connecting with what you aspire for in life. It's what you look up to being, so it shows the goals you have in life. Midheaven and Career
Since the Midheaven is what you aspire for and your goals, it naturally links to your professional life and career. This is NOT the same as your job (which is the 6th house) or how you best make money (which is the 2nd house). Astrology differentiates between them!
Usually, whatever career you end up choosing, you'll find it directly ties into your Midheaven somehow. It may be ruled by the sign your Midheaven falls in, planets in the 10th house (connecting to the Midheaven), or the natural planetary ruler of your Midheaven sign. Goals that aren't professional and your Midheaven:
Now, here's the thing - not everyone has major goals that are professional in nature. Some people never want a career, and their goals are not related to work. Your aspirations may be related to family, philanthropy, heck even simply being a beach bum! (haha)
This is usually still shown through your Midheaven. They're still goals, just not professional ones. In these cases, you'll usually see the Moon/Cancer (ruling family), Uranus/Aquarius (ruling charity, but also the unconventional), or Neptune/Pisces (for the beach bum!) involved. Bottom line, you're going to see it reflected with your Midheaven somehow, so don't automatically assume that it's career and career only. It's not! When can I achieve my goals?
You tend to make progress when your Midheaven is being activated by transit (moving) planets. The biggest times usually come when you have a transit or progressed planet, or a new/full moon/eclipse conjunct (aligned with) your Midheaven. You can see all of your hard, smart work pay off and experience some success or positive developments then. BUT only if you've been working smart and doing things the right way! Otherwise, these are times you can experience major setbacks.
Transit and progressed planets, and new/full moons/eclipses that are sextile or trine your Midheaven can bring positive periods for you without the worry about setbacks. These are the beneficial aspects, so you don't have to deal with the challenges as much. But they're not as strong as the conjunction to the Midheaven. Transit and progressed planets, and new/full moons/eclipses that square your Midheaven can bring the biggest challenges to progress. You likely have some blocks that you need to work through, and you still may not make progress, but can at least stave off the big setbacks or failures. What do they have in store for us? What is a New Moon?
A new moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact same position in the Zodiac (called a conjunction). New moons are related to beginnings, have high energy, and are enthusiastic.
What is a Full Moon?
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). Full moons are related to endings, culminations, and are emotional energy.
New Moon in Leo: August 8th 2021 (9:51AM ET/6:51AM PT)
Leo new moons are often really nice energy, and we can focus on what and who we love most. We want to enjoy ourselves, and we want to let loose. This is a great time for play, getting away from work and duties, and just having a good time. Try to make time for goofing off where you can.
Leo is a highly creative sign, so we can be super creative with a Leo new moon. You can start new creative projects, and can focus on them with enthusiasm. You can infuse everything you do with creative energy, and this can help you focus on even mundane tasks. This can be a good time to express yourself, to get or give attention, and we may seek the spotlight. We're more comfortable with it, and want the praise and adoration. This new moon is square (hard aspect, 3 signs away) transit (moving) Uranus in Taurus. This can kick up the impatient, impulsive energy of Uranus, and we may push for things a little too fast, without thinking things through. We may want change, but we need to be smart about it. There may be sudden developments with this new moon and we have to be willing to adjust and not be stubborn. The new moon occurs at 16 degrees 14 minutes Leo. The aspects to this new moon are: Conjunction: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Leo Sextile: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Gemini or Libra Square: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Taurus or Scorpio Trine: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Aries or Sagittarius Opposition: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Aquarius Full Moon in Aquarius: August 22nd 2021 (8:02AM ET/5:02AM PT)
Another full moon in Aquarius! The July full moon is also in Aquarius, so this is the second in a row. That usually means the two Moons are linked, and what was focused on around the first one in July is again focused on with this second one in August. It may be that something started in July and finishes in August, or we get an idea of things in July and see culminations in August. This can be a bit time for culminations and results, and this may focus on change, the future, our dreams, or the masses. We may gain independence, make strides with innovation, or realize invention.
This full moon is extra strong because it occurs at 29 degrees. 29 degrees is the last degree of a Zodiac sign, and is called the anaretic degree. In transit, it's a point of crisis energy. So the culminations and results we may see can have a major impact on us, and we have to make sure we're reacting appropriately, not lashing out or rushing. This is hot energy and we have to be smart! This full moon is widely conjunct (aligned with) Jupiter in Aquarius, and Jupiter is the planet of expansion, so all of this energy gets expanded to the nth degree. Super super super strong! Jupiter tries to make things better though, since Jupiter doesn't like anything serious or intense or negative. But Jupiter can expand on anything, including the bad. Jupiter just makes it easier to make it better if you put in the effort. The full moon occurs at 29 degrees 37 minutes Aquarius. The aspects to this full moon are: Conjunction: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Aquarius Sextile: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Aries or Sagittarius Square: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Taurus or Scorpio Trine: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Gemini or Libra Opposition: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Leo Since this full moon is so late in sign, there may also be out-of-sign aspects felt, though they're usually not as strong. The out-of-sign aspects are: Conjunction: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Pisces Sextile: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Taurus or Capricorn Square: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Gemini or Sagittarius Trine: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Cancer or Scorpio Opposition: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Virgo Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for general interpretations |
