August is coming, wow this year is flying! August comes with a new moon in Leo and a full moon in Aquarius. What do they have in store for us? What is a New Moon?
A new moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact same position in the Zodiac (called a conjunction). New moons are related to beginnings, have high energy, and are enthusiastic.
What is a Full Moon?
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). Full moons are related to endings, culminations, and are emotional energy.
New Moon in Leo: August 8th 2021 (9:51AM ET/6:51AM PT)
Leo new moons are often really nice energy, and we can focus on what and who we love most. We want to enjoy ourselves, and we want to let loose. This is a great time for play, getting away from work and duties, and just having a good time. Try to make time for goofing off where you can.
Leo is a highly creative sign, so we can be super creative with a Leo new moon. You can start new creative projects, and can focus on them with enthusiasm. You can infuse everything you do with creative energy, and this can help you focus on even mundane tasks. This can be a good time to express yourself, to get or give attention, and we may seek the spotlight. We're more comfortable with it, and want the praise and adoration. This new moon is square (hard aspect, 3 signs away) transit (moving) Uranus in Taurus. This can kick up the impatient, impulsive energy of Uranus, and we may push for things a little too fast, without thinking things through. We may want change, but we need to be smart about it. There may be sudden developments with this new moon and we have to be willing to adjust and not be stubborn. The new moon occurs at 16 degrees 14 minutes Leo. The aspects to this new moon are: Conjunction: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Leo Sextile: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Gemini or Libra Square: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Taurus or Scorpio Trine: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Aries or Sagittarius Opposition: 14 degrees 14 minutes - 18 degrees 14 minutes Aquarius Full Moon in Aquarius: August 22nd 2021 (8:02AM ET/5:02AM PT)
Another full moon in Aquarius! The July full moon is also in Aquarius, so this is the second in a row. That usually means the two Moons are linked, and what was focused on around the first one in July is again focused on with this second one in August. It may be that something started in July and finishes in August, or we get an idea of things in July and see culminations in August. This can be a bit time for culminations and results, and this may focus on change, the future, our dreams, or the masses. We may gain independence, make strides with innovation, or realize invention.
This full moon is extra strong because it occurs at 29 degrees. 29 degrees is the last degree of a Zodiac sign, and is called the anaretic degree. In transit, it's a point of crisis energy. So the culminations and results we may see can have a major impact on us, and we have to make sure we're reacting appropriately, not lashing out or rushing. This is hot energy and we have to be smart! This full moon is widely conjunct (aligned with) Jupiter in Aquarius, and Jupiter is the planet of expansion, so all of this energy gets expanded to the nth degree. Super super super strong! Jupiter tries to make things better though, since Jupiter doesn't like anything serious or intense or negative. But Jupiter can expand on anything, including the bad. Jupiter just makes it easier to make it better if you put in the effort. The full moon occurs at 29 degrees 37 minutes Aquarius. The aspects to this full moon are: Conjunction: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Aquarius Sextile: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Aries or Sagittarius Square: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Taurus or Scorpio Trine: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Gemini or Libra Opposition: 27 degrees 37 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Leo Since this full moon is so late in sign, there may also be out-of-sign aspects felt, though they're usually not as strong. The out-of-sign aspects are: Conjunction: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Pisces Sextile: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Taurus or Capricorn Square: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Gemini or Sagittarius Trine: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Cancer or Scorpio Opposition: 0 degrees 0 minutes - 1 degrees 37 minutes Virgo Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for general interpretations Comments are closed.
