Astrology of Changing Careers

​After the last year+ that we've had, a lot of people are looking at the idea of changing careers. Get a little perspective, and realize you hate what you do and want to do something else! This is common, and happens all of the time, regardless of what's going on in the world. So what kind of astrology can show it's time to change careers?

Changing Careers with Astrology: Transits

The transit (moving) planets can impact you with changing careers, especially transit Uranus. Uranus is the planet of change, and often triggers us wanting to make some big changes in our lives. If transit Uranus is in your 10th house (of career), 6th house (of work), or 2nd house (of money), this can be a period where you're itching for a change professionally. 

Transit Uranus making a hard aspect (conjunct, square, or opposite) to your natal 2nd, 6th, or 10th house cusps, rulers, or planets, or to natal Saturn, can also trigger a big desire to change things up professionally. You have to be careful with this though, since these aspects can make you act in haste and not think things through, so you need to avoid impulse and be smarter about it. These are fantastic aspects for getting out of a rut professionally though, so if you've felt really stuck for a long time, you can push through now.

Transit Uranus making an easy aspect 9sextile or trine) to the came points can also be times to change professionally, however it's much easier and without too much upheaval. You can put together plans, and make things happen more smoothly.

Also noting that currently, transit Uranus is in Taurus, which naturally rules money, so many people will likely be focused on making changes in the way they make money during this transit. It's even more the case if Uranus in Taurus is touring your natal 2nd, 6th, or 10th houses, or aspecting your 2nd, 6th, or 10th house cusps, rulers, planets, or natal Saturn.

Transit Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto can also stimulate a desire for change professionally when they aspect the same points. There can be more opportunity and a desire to expand with Jupiter; you can be more disciplined and have to work extra smart and hard at it with Saturn; and you can make a complete, total transformation with what you do professionally with Pluto.

Changing Careers with Astrology: Progressions

Your progressed chart adds one day to your date of birth for every year you've been alive. This chart reflects how you change with age, and it can be used in prediction. When your progressed Midheaven changes signs, this is often a big one for changing careers. You're looking for a new professional focus, and you can be open to a whole new foundation in your life overall.

Progressed planets entering your natal or progressed 10th house, or natal planets entering your progressed 10th house, can also show you'll want to make changes professionally. It may be focused on whatever the planet rules. 

In general though, progressions stimulating a desire to change careers often comes when you're experiencing major changes in your progressed chart overall. Multiple house cusps or planets changing signs, entering a new progressed lunation phase, multiple natal planets changing progressed houses - this can indicate career changes, but it usually comes with lots of other changes in your life, not just professionally (total overhaul!).
