Saturn retrograde begins soon on June 17th 2023, and this entire retrograde occurs in Pisces. It's the first retrograde period since Saturn entered Pisces in March 2023. So what is the impact of Saturn turning retrograde? Saturn in Astrology
Saturn is the planet of responsibility and lessons. Saturn is the teacher, and sometimes teaches those lessons in a very harsh way. Humans tend to be stubborn, and that annoys Saturn!
In transit, Saturn restricts. When this is beneficial, the restriction streamlines and makes things easier for us; when this is challenging, the restriction makes us feel overwhelmed and held back. What is a retrograde in astrology?
A planet or body in astrology is called retrograde when it appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac from our view here on Earth. Normal motion is forward, so retrograde motion throws things off.
When a planet or body is turning retrograde, it slows way down and hovers in the same spot, called stationing. This sends a steady stream of energy that is stronger than usual. These aspects are intensified because they are continuous while the planet/body is stalled Saturn Retrograde 2023: June 17 2023 @ 1:27PM ET/10:27AM PT
Saturn retrograde likes to add to the restrictive nature of Saturn, and we can feel like we're more stifled than we already were. We try to resist this, but it likely only makes things worse, and we have to work on finding space within limitations, working with what we have, and assessing what we're missing and the lessons we need to be working on right now.
Saturn in Pisces is extremely spiritual and karmic in nature, so Saturn retrograde in Pisces adds to this, and we likely need to give extra attention to spiritual baggage that needs to be released, and karmic patterns that need to be broken. Pisces also rules our subconscious mind, and subconscious energy is usually strong with retrogrades, so Saturn retrograde in Pisces can be a great time to dive into our subconscious minds, understand the past, and work on understanding ourselves better. This Saturn retrograde is actually sextile (beneficial aspect, 2 signs away) Jupiter in Taurus, and they are sextile each other June 9th to 29th, so almost 3 weeks. This helps us not feel quite as stifled as Saturn retrograde normally makes us feel since Jupiter is expansive, and it can be easier for us to find opportunities for more options and get the space we need. Saturn sextile Jupiter helps with discipline and focus with opportunities and ideas, and we can quietly position ourselves well for the rest of the retrograde. This can be a great idea to do now while we're in a lull with the Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Ceres retrogrades (Venus kicks in come late July). Saturn Retrograde 2023 Aspects
