Generations apparently only became a thing in the 1920's, so it's only been around for about 100 years. That can seem very long in our fast-paced world of short attention spans, but in the span of history, is barely a drop in the bucket. Why is it a more recent occurrence? Because until then, pretty much everyone lived the exact same life as their parents, so there wasn't really a difference between grandparents, parents, and children. Sons worked the same jobs as their fathers, and their father's father, and their father's father's father, etc. and girls married into families of similar station (unless they got lucky and married up). So, the change in life, economic mobility (though it's super limited now in the US, but still more attainable in other Western countries), more rights being afforded to everyone, broad education, and rapidly-changing technology have created differences between grandparents, parents, and children that didn't exist before, and thus created generations. Since generations have become a thing, we're now experiencing a first: three generations in a row with an outer planet at home. In astrology, the three outer planets - Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto - are the generational planets, because they move slowly and large swaths of a generation have them in the same sign, linking people of that generation together. The Outer Planet in a Home Sign Generations:
Most Millennials have Pluto at home in Scorpio; the first half of Gen Z have Uranus at home in Aquarius; and Alphas, the kids being born now and for the last decade+, have Neptune at home in Pisces. Roughly, those born from the mid-1980s's to the mid-2020's have an outer planet at home.
I don't even know when this will happen again; I looked ahead 500 years and it's not going to for at least that long! Though there is a little gap between Gen Z and Alphas from 2003 to 2011 where there wasn't an outer planet at home, and this is basically the second half of Gen Z. I suspect another micro generation may pop up. This seems to me like this trio of generations is going to have a huge impact on the world, the kind that lasts for at least centuries. I find it interesting that this comes when we just had the Great Mutation in December 2020, where transit (moving) Jupiter and Saturn conjunct (align) and change elements (since they align every 20 years or so, and this occurs in the same element for about 200 years or so; we went from earth signs to air signs in December 2020). The Great Mutation sets off a whole new era for life. This one occurred early in Aquarius, the sign of the future and change. Fitting, indeed! Millennials have already come of age, and the oldest are now in their 40's while the youngest are just entering their 30's. With Pluto and Scorpio being rulers of sexuality, it's no surprise this generation has opened everyone up with LGBTQ+ rights; and with Pluto loving tearing everything down, this generation has been at the forefront of changes in governments. Transit Pluto currently in Aquarius is square their Pluto, a challenging generational aspect that forces transformation or upends life, so this group is facing an existential crisis now. Their response to this will be important. Much of Gen is in their 20's now, hitting that quarterlife crisis, and the older half are the ones with Uranus in Aquarius. With erratic Uranus at home in Aquarius, this generation has some frantic, scattered, anxious energy. But it's also not afraid of change and is likely to be quite the iconic generation. They've been challenging by transit Uranus in Taurus square their Uranus in Aquarius, but Uranus is moving on soon, and with Pluto in Aquarius lighting up their Aquarius Uranus, I think they'll be dominating over the next two decades. Pluto and Uranus have compatible energy as Pluto is transformation and Uranus is change, and both are willing to tear it all down to start over. Neither are afraid of change and understand its importance. It makes a lot of sense that these two generations are lumped together, referred to as the Plurals. In many ways, their fight is the same fight. This also makes sense in terms of the gap between Gen Z and Alphas. Millennials and the first half of Gen Z are directly connected, so it makes sense they would end up lumped together. Meanwhile Alphas are the kids. Interesting how they are mostly the children of Millennials, so there is a strong tie between these two generations as they sandwich Gen Z. Millennials and Gen Z tear everything down, often in a more tangible, physical way you can see with your eyes; Alphas are challenged to elevate beyond that, to connect with the soul, the subconscious, the hidden, and the intangible. Alphas will have to build on the changes that Millennials and Gen Z create. That existential crisis that Millennials might be experiencing now? Alphas might have all the answers for it. Transit Pluto will move into Pisces in 20 years, as Alphas are well into their 20's and 30's, and they'll get their power at that point, so a little bit later than Millennials and Gen Z. Hopefully that gives them some more wisdom (and the chance to grow off of TikTok?). This is a very interesting time! I can't wait to see what they do.
