In astrology, there are 10 major planets, and each connects with a different part of life, your personality, and has their own energy. The Sun is the planet that connects most with who you are, showing your true self. At its core, this is shown via the Zodiac sign your Sun sign falls in as well as the natal house it's located. The planets also make what are called aspects to one another. An aspect is when two bodies are at certain distances from one another in the Zodiac. There are 360 degrees in the Zodiac, and some specific distances are an aspect. Aspects are grouped between major and minor. The major aspects are: Conjunction: 0 degrees (neutral) Sextile: 60 degrees (beneficial) Square: 90 degrees (challenging) Trine: 120 degrees (beneficial) Opposition: 180 degrees (challenging) There are also many minor aspects, a few dozen or so. Most commonly used are: Semisextile: 30 degrees (beneficial) Quincunx: 150 degrees (challenging) Quintile: 72 degrees (beneficial) BiQuintile: 144 degrees (beneficial) Semisequare (also called an Octile): 45 degrees (challenging) Sesquiquadrate (also called a Tri-Octile): 135 degrees (challenging) I've also worked with quindeciles (165 degrees; challenging), squiles (75 degrees; challenging); squines (105 degrees; challenging), septiles (51 degrees 26 minutes; often challenging), noviles (40 degrees; beneficial), and various undecims (often challenging). I personally don't use minor aspects for predictive astrology (so transits) with the exception of semisextiles and quincunxes. But in natal astrology, I did use various minor aspects. Minor aspects are relatively new though. So, once you determine all of the major and minor aspects between the planets in your natal chart, you can see how they play with one another. The aspects they make show how they work together, or don't work well together at all. They can show a harmonious connection, or one with challenges to work through. This is most obvious with aspects to your natal Sun. Since your natal Sun is your true self, you can really feel the aspects your natal Sun makes to the other natal planets. This can have a strong impact on your personality, who you are, and your life in general. Natal Sun to Natal Moon: Ego & Emotions
The natal Moon is your emotional self, what you need for emotional stability and security, and how you express what you feel. The connection between your natal Sun and Moon can be shown via the aspect between the two, and can show whether your ego needs (Sun) and emotional needs (Moon) are in sync, are compatible, or are at odds. A challenging aspect between the two often indicates lots of conflict and strife at home growing up, and this leads to inner conflict that has to be addressed as an adult.
Natal Sun to Natal Mercury: Mental Connection
Natal Mercury is your mind, how you think, how you communicate, and how you express yourself. The aspect your natal Mercury makes to your natal Sun can show how well you express yourself and communicate. Mercury doesn't travel very far from the Sun, so usually you'll only see a conjunction, semisextile, or novile between them.
Natal Sun to Natal Venus: Connect to Connecting
Natal Venus is your relationships, the people in your life, how you connect with others, and what you want/need in relationships. The aspect your natal Venus makes to your natal Sun can show how well you connect with others. Like Mercury, Venus doesn't travel very far from the Sun, so you may only see a conjunction, semisextile, novile, or semisquare.
Natal Sun to Natal Mars: Leadership Abilities
Natal Mars is energy, and shows your ability to take the lead, take the initiative, and is what drives you to take action. The aspect your natal Mars makes to your natal Sun can show how well you're able to take action. Easy aspects can show this is easier for you, while challenging aspects can show getting in your own way, issues with frustrations and anger, or lacking confidence.
Natal Sun to Natal Jupiter: Ability to Expand
aspect your natal Jupiter makes to your natal Sun can show whether or not you're able to embrace pursuits, and easy aspects can show an expansive attitude, while challenging aspects can show pushing your luck, being prone to excess, or arrogance.
Natal Sun to Natal Saturn: Lessons & Responsibilities
Natal Saturn shows the lessons you have to learn in this life, and the responsibilities you have, and these can be difficult until you mature and learn, and then it can become easier. Easy aspects between your natal Sun and Saturn can make it easier for you to learn your lessons and manage responsibilities, while challenging aspects between them can make it harder, and may represent serious challenges with yourself as a person that have to be worked through. You often feel limited, and have to work on opening up to options in smart ways.
Natal Sun to Natal Uranus: Individuality & Change
Natal Uranus shows where and how you need and make change in your life, and where you should embrace your individuality. Easy aspects between your natal Sun and Uranus can help you embrace what makes you different and more comfortable with change, while challenging aspects between them can make you run from change or too chaotic, and you may reject your uniqueness or push them so much that you have no place. You need to find a good middle ground, and embrace independence and individuality but not to the point of it being detrimental to you.
Natal Sun to Natal Neptune: Imagination & Intuition
Natal Neptune shows your spiritual side, your intuitive self, as well as your artistic and creative side and your imagination, and your compassion and empathy. Easy aspects between your natal Sun and Neptune can help you connect with your intuition and trust it, to help others in healthy ways, and to showcase your creativity. Challenging aspects between them can get you lost in the clouds, unable to connect to the real world at times, have little or no boundaries, and can get you stuck in being a victim. You need to work on grounding yourself, finding healthy boundaries, and utilizing creativity in a more grounded way.
Natal Sun to Natal Pluto: Power & Transformation
Natal Pluto shows how you find power and take control, and what you need to transform in life. Easy aspects between your natal Sun and Pluto can help you feel comfortable with personal power and with being in control, and you can make transformations in easier ways. Challenging aspects between them can bring lots of fights for power, control, autonomy, and there can be more conflict and issues with rage or oppression. You need to work on staying away from unhealthy fights, empower yourself without disempowering others, and it's likely that a major transformation is required of you at some point, or you may have to undergo many small ones. throughout your life.
