June 2012 Full & New Moons: Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius & New Moon in Gemini June 2012 comes with a lunar eclipse! This one in Sagittarius, fiery, bold, and brash. We’ll also experience a new moon in Gemini, sign of the mind, ruling ideas, plans, and communication. Both of these zodiac signs are also signs of travel and movement. A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are exactly opposing one another in the zodiac. It tends to signal a time of endings, culminations, and things coming to fruition. A new moon occurs when the transit Sun and Moon are in the exact same spot in the zodiac, called conjunct. It tends to signal a time of new opportunities, growth, and optimism. Eclipses occur with new and full moons, and solar eclipses occur with new moons and lunar eclipses occur with full moons. They are much stronger than new and full moons; new and full moons have impact for roughly 2 weeks before and after they occur, while eclipses have impact for roughly 6 months before and after they occur. We don’t actually feel them for an entire year though, and they must be triggered.
June 4th 2012 Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius
A lunar eclipse occurs at 7:12AM ET at 14 degrees 8 minutes in Sagittarius. A Lunar Eclipse is a Full Moon with the Sun and Moon in opposite points in the zodiac and in the same signs as the lunar nodes. The effect of a lunar eclipse can span six months, so we have quite a bit of time with this one. In Sagittarius, this Lunar Eclipse is good for exploration and reaching out to those outside of your own little world. This eclipse is square Mars and opposite Venus, so the reaching-out-to-others bit might result in some disagreements and hurt feelings, probably because we're not being open enough to other ways of living. Keep your mind and hearts open. Oh, and this could be a difficult eclipse for legal troubles. If you're a Sagittarius Sun, Moon, or mid-Sagittarius rising, you may feel the effects of this moon most. June 19th 2012 New Moon in Gemini A new moon occurs at 11:02AM ET at 28 degree 43 minutes of Gemini. In Gemini, this is the second consecutive New Moon in Gemini, with last month's Solar Eclipse in early Gemini. This makes Gemini topics prominent: electronics, communications, siblings, neighbors, communities, young people, learning, short distance travel. This is a good time to join neighborhood watch, tutor a child, help an elderly neighbor, do something fun with a sibling, go for a day trip, buy a new gadget, catch up with people, take a class, or volunteer in your community. Our curiosity should be piqued, like that of a child, and we'll all want to find something new to satisfy it.
