Ceres in Cancer: May - July 2022

​Ceres will soon leave Gemini and enter Cancer. Ceres has been back and forth between Gemini and Taurus since May 2021, so this is the first time Ceres will leave those signs in about a year!

What is Ceres in astrology?

Ceres is technically a dwarf planet (like Pluto) but in astrology, we call it an asteroid (as it was before the dwarf planet designation). Ceres is super nurturing, supportive, caring, and there for you. I describe it as a supercharged Moon (maybe mixed with a little Venus).

General Impact of Ceres in Cancer:

Ceres can be pretty comfortable in Cancer since Ceres is ruler of nourishment and is like a supercharged Moon (mixed with some Venus), and the Moon is the ruler of Cancer. With Ceres in Cancer, we can be extra supportive and encouraging of those we care about, and we can make more time to help them.

We may want to give ourselves more emotional nourishment as well, and we can tend to our emotional needs. No more putting them aside and letting them go unmet. We can take care of ourselves emotionally, and want to be around those who support us. It goes both ways.

This can be great energy to focus on the home, and we can prioritize making our home a nourishing, supportive place. We want to be more comfortable there, so this can be a time to redecorate or renovate. If moving, you may give more attention to the places you feel comfortable in.

This can also be a time for family, and we can be more supportive of those we view as family. Some may expand their family, and this can be a good time for pregnancy and parenthood.

Ceres in Cancer Aspects:

• Square Jupiter in Aries on May 20th (2 degrees): This is not long after Jupiter enters Aries, and we may have some struggle with getting needs met. There may be lack, or it may be in excess that doesn't actually help. Mercury is retrograde by this time too, so everything may just be kind of wonky.
  
• Conjunct Black Moon Lilith on May 26th (4 degrees Cancer): Ceres and Lilith conjuncted in Gemini as well (on August 8th 2021), and they won't conjunct again for a little while as Ceres speeds up past Lilith. This conjunction can focus on standing up to support others, to nourish others, and to take care of others. We can speak out about issues around the home and family, and we can be more passionate about tackling emotional wellness. 
  
• Sextile Venus in Taurus on June 4th (8 degrees): This can be super helpful energy for dealing with others, and we can come together more easily, be caring and show emotional support, and we can feel more connected. It can also be easier to get support and nourishment.
  
• Square Mars in Aries on June 6th (9 degrees): So that feel-good energy from Venus may not last as this one kicks in and we're frustrated and easily irritated. We may have to deal with a lot of challenges to have proper support. We may be lashing out quite a bit, especially if we're feeling unsupported. We may need to look at ourselves instead of others for support.
  
• Sextile Uranus in Taurus on June 25th (17 degrees): Energy improves, and we can find new, different ways to be supportive and find nourishment, or we can work on giving support and nourishment more broadly, to a group or the world at large. We can be more concerned with the causes we connect with emotionally that help facilitate nourishment.
  
• Trine Neptune in Pisces on July 13th (at 25 degrees): With Neptune ruling compassion and empathy, we can be super compassionate, understanding, and want to help others in any way we can. We can find it easier to be helpful. We can also be super creative.
  
• Opposite Pluto in Capricorn on July 17th (27 degrees): This is likely the most challenging aspect, and we may have to fight for control and power to implement the kind of support needed. We may need to transform how we're getting or giving support, and avoid running all over the importance of nourishment.
  
• Conjunct Mercury on July 18th (27 degrees Cancer): This can help us communicate about nourishment and come up with ideas and plans to support others and ourselves. We can take small steps quickly to make progress.
  
• Conjunct the Sun on July 21st (29 degrees Cancer): This can shine a light on issues around nourishment and support, and where we need to work on the foundation of problems. We can take quick action before both planets move into Leo.
