Ceres is going to end its retrograde soon, on January 14th 2022, after being retrograde since October 8th 2021. It began in Gemini, but went into Taurus on December 21st 2021, and ends its retrograde in Taurus. Ceres in Astrology
Ceres is a dwarf planet (but you'll often see it referred to as an asteroid in astrology since it was called that originally - just an fyi!). Ceres is the planet of nourishment, and is argued to rule Taurus. It's what we have, our resources, and what we need to feel nourished. It's kind of like a Moon+Venus combo, supercharged.
In your natal chart, your natal Ceres can show how and where you find nourishment, and find and give more support. You can find Ceres in your own chart for free using astro.com (in Extended Chart Selection, click on Additional objects, and select Ceres from the menu). Transit (moving) Ceres begins 2022 retrograde late in Taurus, and once it ends its retrograde, it'll start picking up speed and eventually end 2022 early in Libra, spanning about 4 1/2 Zodiac signs. Transit Ceres can bring attention to what we need support with, how we can give support, and where nourishment can be found. Direct in Astrology
Direct in astrology means the planet is no longer moving retrograde. A planet is retrograde when it appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac from our view here on Earth (it's not actually, it just appears that way). Once the planet is no longer moving backward, it's direct.
As it ends, the planet usually hovers in the same spot for a little while, and this is called stationing. The planet is gearing up to change its motion, hence the slowdown. Ceres Direct 2022:
This Ceres direct occurs in Taurus, and as mentioned, this is the sign Ceres is argued to rule. On top of which, Venus, the current ruler of Taurus, is retrograde until January 29th. So Taurus stuff has been way off!
When both planets are going forward again, we can start to feel better with Taurus-ruled stuff, and work on being more stable and secure, more confident and with self-worth. We can understand what we value and what we cherish most. Ceres retrograde may have made it more difficult to have what we need for stability and security, and to feel supported and nourished. With Ceres retrograde ending, we can start to correct that. This Ceres direct is trine, which is a beneficial aspect, transit Pluto in Capricorn. This gives some helpful energy for taking control of what will nourish us, support us, and bring stability, and we might make transformations to make this happen. This is very helpful, in contrast to Venus retrograde, which began conjunct (aligned with) Pluto, and likely in contrast to Mercury retrograde, which ends February 3rd conjunct Pluto as well. Venus retrograde and Mercury direct make the Pluto energy a little too intense, whereas Ceres helps us to take control of it and use it to our advantage. I think this'll be a good time for cleaning up any damages or reconstructing (particularly as a result of a natural disaster or weather event). White Moon Selena also helps as it's conjunct Ceres direct (exact on January 27th). White Moon Selena guides the way and offers protection and a helping hand, so in the middle of the wonkiness, there is some help. Ceres is in Taurus until February 8th, so much of this energy can last until then. The Ceres direct 2022 can impact you most in the areas of life ruled by the house in your natal chart it occurs in, and is strongest if it aspects any of your natal planets. The Ceres direct occurs at 27 degrees 58 minutes Taurus, so the aspects are: Conjunction: 24 degrees 58 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Taurus Sextile: 24 degrees 58 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Cancer or Pisces Square: 24 degrees 58 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Leo or SAquarius Trine: 24 degrees 58 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Virgo or Capricorn Opposition: 24 degrees 58 minutes - 29 degrees 59 minutes Scorpio If sextile or trine any of your natal planets, this can be beneficial energy for support and nourishment, and you can find it easier during this time to create stability and security. If square or opposite any of your natal planets, this can be challenging energy where support and nourishment may be difficult to get, or you have to give too much. Try to be there for yourself and have healthy boundaries. If conjunct any of your natal planets, whatever that planet rules may both require more support yet also be a source of more support for you. You can get and give with that planet, and see energy flowing in and out. Suggested Reading: The Ceres in Taurus and Ceres in Gemini articles Comments are closed.
