There are thousands of asteroids in astrology (yep, thousands!). Many are random, named after people, but many also correspond to something specific, and asteroid Veritas is one of them. Veritas is Latin for "truth" - so asteroid Veritas is an asteroid of truth! Asteroid Veritas in Astrology
Asteroid Veritas is named after the Roman goddess of truth. Veritas truth is said to be linked to what is right and just. It's not just about exposing the truth, but exposing the truth that is right.
In your natal chart, asteroid Veritas can show where you want the truth in your life, or where you have a hard time finding the truth. It's just generally where truth is important in some way. Beneficial aspects (sextiles and trines) can make truth easier for you, while hard aspects (squares and oppositions) can make the truth a hard pill to swallow or difficult to ascertain. Conjunctions can make truth hugely important for whatever is conjunct, but this can be for good or bad. A strong natal asteroid Vertitas can make the right, just truth important for you as a person and in your life. This may be challenged with a difficult Veritas (like if it's anaretic - at 29 degrees, at a critical degree, or intercepted). Natal Veritas conjunct your natal Sun, Moon, or an angle can make you suuuper truthful as a person. I know this one myself - I have asteroid Veritas conjunct my Ascendant! I have been called blunt (ha!). But my Veritas is also square (hard aspect) natal Jupiter, so I was a compulsive liar as a child until I learned to be otherwise. In transit, Veritas can show where you need to be truthful, or where the truth will be exposed. This can play out in the areas of life ruled by the house transit Veritas is touring for you, or by the planets being aspected by Veritas. Hard transit aspects by transit Veritas to your natal planets or by the transit planets to your natal Veritas can bring difficulties with the truth, and it escapes you, eludes you, causes problems, or isn't something you want to hear. Beneficial transit aspects involving Veritas can make the truth easier to manage, to find, and to accept. The Veritas Return
When a planet returns to the exact position it was at when you were born in the Zodiac, this is called a return. You can assess this for asteroids as well, and when the body returns, whatever that body rules becomes super important at that time.
The Veritas return can be big for the truth in your life, and may be a time when you find out about some important secret, you expose one of your own secrets, or have to work with the truth in some important way. There may be a lesson to learn associated with the truth as well. Remember that it should be what is right and just. How to Find Asteroid Vertias in Your Natal Chart & in Transit
Go to astro.com, and click on 'My Astro', then enter your birth data, and click on 'Extended Chart Selection', and then click on 'Additional Objects'. In the 'Manual entry' box, type in the number 490 (that's the number for Veritas) and generate your chart.
This will show asteroid Veritas in your natal chart, and you can find the sign and house it's located and aspects it makes. You can create an ephemeris for asteroid Veritas in Extended Chart Selection as well; click on 'Ephemeris' and then click on 'Ephemerides for other objects' and type in the number '490' in the 'Manual entry' box and generate the ephemeris.
