Pluto is one of the outer planets. pr generational planets, along with Uranus and Neptune. They are called generational planets because they spend so long in one Zodiac sign, that most or all of a generation cna have them in the same sign. This is especially true for Pluto, who spends 15-20 years in each sign, and is the slowest planet. Pluto Astrology & Your Natal Chart
There are ten planets in a standard astrology chart (I personally also add Ceres, and there are others, but we start with the ten). Each planet links to a different part of your personality and life. Your natal chart is a snapshot of the locations of the planets, other bodies, and houses in the Zodiac at the moment you're born and from the location you're born at.
Pluto is the natural ruling planet for water sign Scorpio, the intense and passionate sign, and naturally connects to the eighth house, the house of other people's money (money that involves other people) and transformation. At-a-Glance Pluto Keywords:
Pluto in Astrology: Transformation
At its core, Pluto is the planet of transformation. In your natal chart, your natal Pluto can show how and where you have to transform in your life. This can be a big transformation at some point, or it might be many smaller ones throughout your life. This is largely focused on the areas of life ruled by the house your natal Pluto is in, and aspects it makes (especially conjunctions).
When it comes to transits, transit (moving) Pluto can make it important to transform with whatever planet or body it's aspecting. Sextiles and trines can make it easy for you and a positive experience, while conjunct, squares, and oppositions can make it super challenging and force you to confront things you'd rather keep running from. Pluto in Astrology: Research and Investigation
Pluto doesn't like anything superficial, so it's willing to dig deeper. It wants to get to the heart of matters, and this makes it an intense sign for research and investigation. Pluto can keep digging until it gets to the core and finds everything it needs to find.
Because of this Pluto also rules solutions (as we take the information we find and come up with solutions to problems), and is one of the science rulers (along with Uranus). Pluto in Astrology: Darkness
Pluto governs the dark side in astrology. Pluto is Hades, ruler of the Underworld/Hell, so Pluto can connect with the darkness within us. Everyone has a dark side, and Pluto relishes living in that part of ourselves. Getting some control over it can be important though.
Pluto in Astrology: Depth
Since Pluto wants to get to the heart of matters, is researching and investigative and hates superficiality, Pluto governs our depths. Pluto is what we hide way down deep inside of us, what we shove away for another day, only to ignore it forever. We run from this, we hide from this, we keep putting it way down deep.
Pluto wants depth, but it will punish us eventually for running from what is there. We need to be willing to venture into the depths and face what's there. Pluto in Astrology: Fear
Pluto rules our fears, what we're terrified of. This can be internal or external, but we tend to run from this. Pluto demands that we stop running and avoiding, and face our fears directly. Pluto challenges us and tries to force us to face our greatest fears. Whether or not we learn from them is up to us.
Pluto in Astrology: Power and Control
Pluto rules power and control, and shows how we can empower ourselves, where we can find power, how we take control, and where we need to take control. This can be flipped sometimes though, and show how others have power and control over us.
Natal Pluto can show where you may have power and control issues that need to be worked on. A transformation is usually needed. Pluto in Astrology: Passion and Intensity
Pluto is a passionate and intense planet in astrology. Pluto doesn't do anything halfway. Pluto is either all in or all out, and there's no real middle ground there. When Pluto cares, it cares hard and fully; and when Pluto doesn't care, it's like you don't exist.
Pluto in Astrology: Taboo
Pluto rules the taboo in astrology. What's forbidden can be enticing to Pluto, and it wants to venture into territories that are off-limits. Pluto doesn't accept that, and wants to explore and understand, and knows you can't do that if you ignore it.
Pluto gets a kind of thrill from the taboo, so there is a bit of a rebellious side to it (though Uranus rules rebellion, but when the two of them get together, it's quite the wow!). Pluto in Astrology: The Witch
I know, Pluto is one of the science rulers but it's also ruler of the witch! Haha, well it ties into many aspects of Pluto, like the taboo, as science has been seen throughout history as a threatening subject to many, as has the witch. Both science and the witch also tie into the darkness and depth of Pluto, and can give power and control to whoever wields them.
Where Your Pluto Energy is Found
For everyone, look to the Zodiac sign and natal house your Pluto falls in. The energy of the Pluto sign is how you transform, while the areas of life ruled by the house your Pluto falls in are where you transform. Also look to the natural planetary ruler of your Pluto sign (the natural planetary ruler of the Zodiac sign your Pluto falls in) as this can also connect to the Pluto energy.
Planets that are conjunct (aligned with) your natal Pluto can get overtaken by Pluto's intensity. Whatever the planet rules, Pluto can make it extremely strong and powerful, but too much at times, and you may have such intense energy associated with it that it is difficult to control. You can encounter many power struggles and control issues with it. A major transformation is often needed, or many smaller transformations throughout your life, with whatever it rules. Transit (moving) planets aspecting your natal Pluto can bring some temporary energy for Pluto matters. This can impact your ability to transform and research with Pluto as well as the areas of life ruled by the house your Pluto rules (so the house that falls in Scorpio). The most challenging aspects to your natal Pluto can be hard transit Uranus (who rules change, the sudden and unexpected, so paired with transformative Pluto, this can lead to massive changes and unexpected developments you need to be quick to work with), hard transit Chiron (the wounded healer, this can bring out deep wounds from the past), and hard transit Pluto (most only live long enough to experience the square in their late 30's, but if you do the work to transform ahead of time, it can be an empowering period; if you don't it can be a defeating one). A Strong Natal Pluto in Astrology
Some may have a more important natal Pluto. This can be the case for you if you have:
- a stellium (3+ planets) including your natal Pluto - your natal Pluto conjunct an angle - your North or South Node in your Pluto sign - your 1st house ruler conjunct the natal Pluto - your natal Pluto anaretic (at 29 degrees) - natal Pluto as a singleton (only planet in an element, modality, or house type) If your natal Pluto is in a stellium, it might take that stellium over, especially if the other planets are the faster ones (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) or Jupiter or Neptune. That can make the stellium incredibly intense, and you may encounter issues when you manifest it and have to hold your ground. Pretty much only Saturn and Uranus can go up against Pluto. If Saturn is in the stellium, it may try to control Pluto, but the two likely fight and you sway from super controlled to super out of control. If Uranus is in the stellium, there can be lots of sudden developments leading to unexpected power/control issues. Natal Pluto conjunct an angle can bring the intensity of Pluto to whatever that angle rules, and you may experience more power struggles and control issues. It becomes important for you to transform and empower yourself, otherwise you may be at the mercy of manipulative others. If Pluto is conjunct your 1st house ruler, Pluto can infuse your personality, and you may seem more dominating and intense. Pluto in your North Node sign means you need to embrace your power and take control, be strong and willful, but you may shy away from this, scared of it, and need to work on pushing through the fear. Pluto in your South Node sign means you may fall back to your intensity and passion and dominating side too much, and need to learn better balance, compromise, and consideration. Your natal Pluto can be extra elevated if it's anaretic or a singleton. Both of these greatly amplify your natal Pluto energy, but it can go either way. If you run away from it, you may be a pushover, and find you're constantly around others who control you and have ill intentions. If you go too far with it, you may be the one acting that way and controlling others. Middle ground is very important here, and you need to embrace your own power while showing others the respect to embrace their own.
