Jupiter is the lucky planet. It's expansive, good-natured, humorous, and wants to look at the bright side. Jupiter brings luck, in part because of its expansive nature (which unlocks opportunities), and in part because of its optimism (so it's open to possibilities). In your natal chart, your Jupiter sign (and house placement) can show how and where this luck comes for you. They're the areas where you seem to always have opportunities, there is a breadth of potential, and you can view situations in a brighter light, helping you to stay with it until you find what works for you. You don't usually have to work so hard with Jupiter (that's the job of Saturn and Pluto). Jupiter doesn't want to be hard on us, so even when you have a more challenged natal Jupiter (like it's anaretic or intercepted), you can still work with it and not have quite as many hoops to jump through to make positive use of your Jupiter. We're going to focus on your Jupiter sign meaning so you can get an idea of how this expansive, lucky energy plays out for you (and if you don't know your Jupiter sign, Cafe Astrology has a table HERE). Pisces Jupiter Sign Meaning: Jupiter in Pisces benefits from a strong intuition. Pisces is the sign of intuition, so you can focus on strengthening your connection to your intuitive self, and this can guide you to the right choices and actions. It seems like luck, but it's just a great inner guide! You may find opportunities through spiritual pursuits, by being in the background (you may avoid the spotlight unless you've got lots of fire or 1st house energy), by helping others, or through artistic ventures. Lilith gets a lot of negative attention (no surprise given the story of Lilith!), and it certainly can be challenging, but not always negative if you can use Black Moon Lilith to your advantage. I've talked a lot about Lilith in different contexts, but for this article, I wanted to explore what it means when you have a strong Black Moon Lilith in your natal chart. What does it mean for you? How do you know if you have a strong Black Moon Lilith in the natal chart?
You may qualify if your Black Moon Lilith is:
- conjunct a personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) - conjunct one of the angles (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th house cusps) - conjunct the ruler of the Ascendant - conjunct one of the Lunar Nodes (the point's in the Moon's orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic; are spiritual/karmic in nature) - in the 1st house - anaretic (at 29 degrees) - at the Aries Point (0 degrees of a cardinal sign) Any of these can add some juice to your natal Black Moon Lilith and make the energy stronger for you. The Story of Lilith
First, let's explore the story of Lilith. Lilith was Adam's first wife in the Garden of Eden, refused to be sexually submissive (she believed they were equals since they were both made from the Earth), and was kicked the eff out like a starter wife and replaced by the I'll-do-anything-you-want second wife Eve (LOL! so that would be the modern version?).
Some of the stories say Lilith went stark-raving mad, stole babies, became a succubus, blah-blah-blah - you see what I mean with the negative attention? No one thought very highly of a woman who could think for herself in those days, so to save the fragile male ego, of course they had to paint her as a wackadoodle. I never fail to get mad at this story! What does it mean to have a strong Black Moon Lilith in the natal chart?
Anyways - having a strong Black Moon Lilith in your natal chart means Lilith is super important, and likely quite prevalent, in your personality and/or life. You may be someone who has experienced standing up and speaking out in some way but being opposed for doing this, even punished (like Lilith). But like Lilith, you have an inner strength and belief in the right thing that keeps you from budging.
Thanks to the story of Lilith, this position also ties into sexual desires, but I find those with a strong Black Moon Lilith aren't the submissive types (as Lilith wasn't). This doesn't necessarily mean being a dominatrix (unless maybe you have a strong asteroid Sado?), but is instead, being more sexually independent. You don't want to be forced into doing anything you're not into, and you may run from anyone who tries. This can also be tied to more than just sex, and you may have a hard time being forced into anything. Lilith is also one of the witches, so having a strong Black Moon Lilith usually gives you some mystical, magical, witchy power. How exactly this manifests usually depends on the sign your Lilith is in. And with the whole baby-stealing thing, I also find those with a strong or challenged Lilith tend to have difficult relationships with their mothers (often outright abusive relationships, though not necessarily physical; I have found many narcissistic mothers who focus on mental/emotional abuse for those with a strong or challenged Lilith). Black Moon Lilith is a little like Pluto in that you usually have to undergo a transformation in order to fully access your Lilith energy in a positive way. Some of it may come naturally to you when Lilith is strong in your natal chart, but you may also encounter more of the problems and opposition. Like Pluto, Lilith is a position that is full of power - and with any personal power, you have to grow within yourself to accept it, be comfortable with it, and wield it wisely. The growth and transformation may be tied to your Lilith sign, house, and close aspects (but also focusing on your Pluto transformation as well as your Saturn lessons can be super helpful too - use them together!). This is a reference to the Zodiac sign the transit (moving) Sun is in. The Sun gets the most attention since it's considered one of the most important parts of who you are (ruling your true self). In transit, the Sun shines a light, and our attention is brought to the Zodiac sign it's touring. The confusing basics: What the heck is a Zodiac, anyway?
In astrology, we actually have 3 different Zodiacs: Tropical, Sidereal, and Constellational. Only the Constellational Zodiac (which is relatively new) focuses on the *actual* location of the current constellations. The Tropical and Sidereal Zodiac's don't.
The Tropical Zodiac is an Earth-based system that focuses on the seasons, with Aries corresponding to the Spring Equinox, Cancer corresponding to the Summer Solstice, Libra corresponding to the Autumnal Equinox, and Capricorn corresponding to the Winter Solstice. It's a fixed system that doesn't change, which is why those idiotic reporters who shout every few years that it's not correct are actually the ones who aren't correct. ;) The Sidereal Zodiac takes into consideration the precession of the equinoxes (which can get really wordy and technical but is essentially just the change in the orientation of our rotational axis), so it's not fixed, however it really only uses this to calculate the start of the Zodiac and then splits the Zodiac into 12 equal parts (the 12 Zodiac signs), same as the Tropical system. The Zodiac signs in the Constellational Zodiac are NOT equal (since they actually vary in size - but this system isn't Earth-based). Sidereal and Tropical have been around for a loooong time and are the ones mostly used today; Constellational is like a baby in comparison (just a couple decades old). The lack of symmetry with the Constellational Zodiac tends to make astrologers a little standoffish. Some signs are huge and others are tiny. The perfect symmetry of astrology was part of its beauty for its history. It can also feel like it's trying to appease the scientific community (which, let's face it, isn't going to happen anytime soon, at least not until quantum physics gives us some answers - maybe!). The Sidereal Zodiac is mostly used in the East, while the Tropical Zodiac is mostly used in the West. The Sun sign you're familiar with is likely your Tropical Zodiac Sun sign. Now to the movement of the Sun:
Using the Tropical Zodiac, the transit Sun is at about the same position on the same date every year, which makes it very easy to use. It's old reliable! It might be off by a day year-to-year, but that's about it.
The transit Sun moves almost 1 degree per day. The Zodiac is comprised of 12 Zodiac signs, and each sign is made up of 30 degrees so we can pinpoint locations (and each degree is made up of 60 minutes). This gives us 360 degrees for the entire Zodiac. We have 365 days each year (366 in Leap Year), so it's almost the same! It ends up evening out (since the Sun moves faster in the winter, slower in the summer, but averages out to just under 1 degree). And now: Which month is which Zodiac signs?
