With Valentine’s Day coming up, some of you may be on the prowl for a new romance. Transit Venus can actually help with that. The house transit Venus is currently going through in your chart shows the easiest ways for you to meet a potential new flame. This is taken from the Transit Venus page:
Transit Venus in the 1st House When transit Venus is in your 1st house, you feel more social and outgoing and want to reach out to people. This is a great time for searching out new love relationships or strengthening existing ones. You want to feel more pleasure in your life, and can find that with others or by indulging in your senses. If you want to improve your appearance, doing it under this transit is excellent, and even if you don’t do anything to your physical self, there’ll be something about you that attracts people to you more than usual. You can be more charming and friendly, making you more attractive. You can be more compromising, vacillating, and have good manners, but be a little distant emotionally. Transit Venus in the 2nd House When transit Venus is in your 2nd house, you want to feel more secure in your life with Venus here, and usually it’s through spending money and having physical objects around you that make you feel good. The people you’re most attracted to during this time are ones who make you feel more secure with your life, increase your self-esteem, and share your values. You also prefer stable people over those who are more erratic since you desire more comfort in your life. You could meet someone through dealing with money (like at a store or bank) or who works with money (like an accountant or banker). You can be good with money during this transit, or you can spend money easily, especially on something beautiful. You may have an easier time getting your hands on the money that you need when you need it. Transit Venus in the 3rd House When transit Venus is in your 3rd house, people who can stimulate your mind and connect with you on an intellectual level are who you’re attracted to most. You want someone who you can carry a conversation with about whatever interests you, and you may be attracted to more than one person. The third house is naturally ruled by Gemini, a sign of duality, so there could be two people that pique your interest. You could meet someone on a short trip or through a sibling, neighbor, or online, and the person could be a writer, work with young people, a community organizer, or work in communications. You find more pleasure in communicating and engaging with other people, and you can find the right words to say when you need to. Transit Venus in the 4th House When transit Venus is in your 4th house, romance is what you’re after, not some fling. You’re more prone to watch an old romantic movie and weep. You want to feel safe because you feel more sensitive, so someone who comes across as protective and loyal may be what you’d like. A family member could introduce you to someone, and you could meet someone who works with homes in some way (like an interior designer, carpenter, or architect), is a caregiver, family counselor, or nurse. While Venus is in the 4th house, if it makes an easy aspect to the Sun (if you’re looking for a male) or Moon (if you’re looking for a female), that can be a trigger for meeting someone. You may try to improve the appearance of your home, wanting to live in a nice place, and can buy new items for your home. You can also have an easier time dealing with your relatives. Transit Venus in the 5th House When transit Venus is in your 5th house, the 5th house is the house of love, so this is a great time to begin dating a new special someone, and you won’t want it to be boring and blah. You feel more romantic, but in a playful way, and want some more drama in your love life (drama like you see on television and in movies; you want to recreate those incredibly romantic scenes). Attracting new loves is easier during this transit, and you’ll be the one getting chased rather than doing the chasing. You could meet someone through a hobby or who works in a creative field. You feel more creative and artistic, and can find inspiration more easily. Dealing with your children may be easier, as well as getting in touch with your inner child. Transit Venus in the 6th House When transit Venus is in your 6th house, you won’t easily fall for someone. The person and relationship will need to make sense in a logical way, and you’ll likely assess the person you want to be with almost like you’re interviewing someone for a job, making sure they meet all of your criteria. If they do, then you’ll proceed, but if they don’t, you move on with less emotion about it. The sixth house rules your work environment, so you could meet someone at your job or their job. Maybe a coworker? Just make sure it doesn’t get messy! You find more pleasure in structure and order, wanting things to be just so, and are more of a perfectionist. You can also find more enjoyment in your work, and take a more creative approach or work on a creative project. Transit Venus in the 7th House When transit Venus is in your 7th house, you desire being committed to someone, and can make a commitment with someone more easily than usual. You want someone who isn’t afraid of commitment, and may stay away from those eternal bachelors and the wild child. Someone who is willing to compromise with you will really get your attention, and who is charming and pleasant in social situations, with an air of dignity and grace. Looks may be more important than usual too. You may be introduced to a potential mate through someone you’re close to, or meet someone who works in law or the arts. This can be a good time to forge a new partnership, personal or business, and work out negotiations and compromises. Transit Venus in the 8th House When transit Venus is in your 8th house, you’re more attracted to people who are intense and provoking, and who seem like a mystery to you. You won’t mind digging deep into a person you’re interested in. Anyone who comes across as superficial is immediately dismissed. Someone may demand to be closer to you. The one with a penetrating gaze gets your attention. Someone who can touch you deeply and help you to heal or transform yourself for the better may be best for you. You can be more intimate now, and your sexual desire is heightened. You could meet someone who works in forensics, psychology, criminology, or research. You get more satisfaction from digging underneath the surface, investigating subjects, and having greater intimacy. Transit Venus in the 9th House When transit Venus is in your 9th house, you want someone who is free as a bird and can take you along on their fun adventures. If they can expand your mind, make you see things differently from the way you have before, and open you up to new ways of thinking and living, you’ll follow them anywhere. You could take a long trip and meet someone on your travels, or become interested in someone from a foreign country or who lives an entirely different lifestyle than you do. You could take a class in something new and meet someone there, or become interested in a teacher, philosopher, pilot, linguist, writer, or overall thrill-seeker. You find greatest pleasure in expanding your mind and having new experiences that allow you to learn and teach others what you’ve learned. This can be a good time for writing and speaking. Transit Venus in the 10th House When transit Venus is in your 10th house, you’re attracted to those older than you, and if you normally like older then you might like someone even older than usual. Someone who is stable, successful in their career, and has a good standing in society is attractive to you. You come across as more charming in public, and that can attract more people to you. The one that has the best chance is the one you respect the most. You could meet someone through your career or through a mentor, or who is a business person, entrepreneur, CEO, or who works in politics or public relations. You can be more creative with your work, and this is a good period for those in the arts or beauty industry, or for making a positive impact on someone important. Transit Venus in the 11th House When transit Venus is in your 11th house, you can have a friend set you up. You have a good chance of meeting someone through a mutual friend. You want to be with someone who shares the same interests you do, belongs to the same groups, and fights for the same causes. You may not be very passionate during this period though, so it could be that if you begin seeing someone new, you’re starting slow and building a mental rapport first. You could also begin dating someone that you’ve been friends with for a long time; maybe you’ve liked them or they’ve liked you and it comes out, or maybe you just start seeing each other differently. You feel good about your future, and find pleasure in things that are unusual or unconventional. You embrace individuality more. Transit Venus in the 12th House When transit Venus is in the 12th house, you don’t feel like being affectionate in public, and you may not come across as being all that interested in anyone. If you meet someone now, you’re more likely to keep your interest in them to yourself, feeling more shy than usual in love matters. A relationship begun in secret is more likely to happen under this influence. You could feel a karmic attraction to someone, or be attracted to someone who you feel needs your help in some way. You may meet someone at a hospital, or who is a doctor, prison guard, warden, or drug counselor. You find more pleasure in dealing with spiritual matters or the metaphysical, and you can have an easier time letting things go. The basics: A retrograde occurs when a planet appears to be moving backwards from our vantage point here on Earth. It isn't actually moving backwards, it just appears that way. Venus retrogrades about every 1 ½ years for 1 ½ months at a time. When a planet retrogrades, what that planet rules tends to be thrown off, along with what the sign it's retrograding in rules.
This Venus retrograde begins March 4th at 4:02AM ET and ends April 16th at 6:16AM ET. It starts at 13 degrees 9 minutes Aries and ends at 26 degrees 55 minutes Pisces, entering Pisces on April 2nd at 7:27PM ET. Oh Venus retrograde! We didn’t have one in 2016, so we’re now due in 2017, and here she comes. Most of the retrograde occurs in Aries, and we can struggle with being selfish, impatient, impulsive, and aggressive in our relationships and in our dealings with others. We may snap a little too easily, and can say things we regret later (so don’t). At the same time, we can be super lazy and lack initiative and drive to start anything or pursue anything, and may lack the excitement and enthusiasm we once had. We’ll need an outlet for the excess energy while also need to find a way to motivate ourselves when we need to get going. We may have extra energy for things we don’t need the energy for, and not enough for the things we do. And we can be rash and childish in relationships, so remind yourself you’re not 13 and should act like an adult (unless you are 13, then go ahead and act like a brat!). Venus does not retrograde fully in Aries though, and she’ll go back into Pisces on April 2nd, so the last 13 days of the retrograde occur in this watery, sensitive sign. We go from the tension, aggression, and impulsiveness of Aries to being overly sacrificial, easily taken advantage of, and vulnerable to deception and manipulation with Pisces. We have to work on being more realistic and not wearing rose-colored glasses with the people in our lives, but we may not see how delusional we’re actually being. Everything seems great while it’s burning down all around us. We may be too compassionate and do anything for everyone at times, but then lack empathy and understanding at other times. There may be a situation that seems particularly cruel while Venus is retrograde in Pisces because we’re much more sensitive and easily victimized. We need to guard ourselves and those who can’t guard themselves. We may be a little wishy washy, all over the place with Venus retrograde in Pisces. Pisces is a sign that’s hard to pin down, getting lost in daydreams, fantasies, illusions, and imagination. This can be an excellent period creatively and for the artist within if you can get control over the energy, but we may be so in-the-air that we have a hard time actually doing that. And any commitments we make now? Yeah, likely not going to stick at all! Venus is ruler of relationships, and her retrograde usually brings about a lot of breakups, or at least a few big ones. She also tends to bring people back together too. Venus is also ruler of money, so we can see financial issues arise (something with the stock market when she’s critical or anaretic? Hmm . . .). Keep a tight grip on those purse strings! Venus retrograde begins at a difficult position, something called a critical degree. There are certain degrees in the Zodiac that are deemed “critical”, and the energy can be more difficult than the others, and 13 degrees Aries is one of those degrees. Joy! So when the retrograde starts, we may be feeling some extra zing in every zap, and our relationships can be even more on edge, dangling precariously. Pull back! Venus will also be at a critical degree just before entering Pisces, April 1st and 2nd, and then will be anaretic (at the 29th degree, the very last degree of a sign and a point of crisis energy) April 2nd - 5th as she enters Pisces. This might be a topsy-turvy time for the retrograde, and we often see events triggered by retrograde planets at the anaretic degree, so let’s pay careful attention to this time. Add on top of this that while Venus is in Aries, she’ll be a part of the cardinal t-square we have going on, which has Jupiter in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries with both square (hard aspect, three signs away) Pluto in Capricorn. Venus will be adding to the Uranus in Aries energy, so we’ll likely be seeing more uprising, more pushing for freedom and independence, and definitely more impulsive, aggressive energy. We’ll need to work extra hard to keep a lid on that while Venus is retrograde in Aries! Venus retrograde will make 3 major aspects, a conjunction to Mercury in Aries on at March 18th at 8:27AM ET, a conjunction to the Sun in Aries on March 25th at 6:17AM ET, and a square to Saturn when in Pisces on April 8th at 4:28PM ET. Venus conjunct Mercury can help us focus on what we need to say, how we say it, and the state of communication in our relationships. Are we actually listening and paying attention to what others are saying, or getting distracted? Are we being the most effective we can be when we try to communicate, or using too much fluff and filler words and going around the point? It can be a good time to try to say something again but in a different way. We can hear a lot of news about relationships with this aspect. Venus conjunct the Sun can be a good time to focus on what we can channel our enthusiasm and excitement into, especially with old projects, ideas, and plans. A new moon occurs in Aries while Venus is retrograde in Aries, about 3 degrees apart, on March 27th. This might highlight some of the retrograde problems, while also bringing some potentially helpful energy. It’ll be an excellent new moon for people getting back together, and giving opportunities second chances. But it can also be a time when we're much too impulsive, and erratic energy is heightened, so let's find some outlets. Venus retrograde will end closely sextile (positive aspect, two signs away) Mars in Taurus (exact the day after the retrograde ends), as well as square (hard aspect, three signs away) Saturn in Sagittarius, who turns retrograde himself April 5th. The square to Saturn might bring some restrictions, limitations, and overwhelm, so use the energy from the sextile to Mars wisely and channel passion and creativity in productive ways. And oh yeah - Mercury retrograde! He’ll begin just as Venus retrograde is ending, with Mercury turning retrograde himself on April 9th (through May 3rd, starting in Taurus and ending in Aries). SO even when the Venus retrograde ends, Mercury will pick right up where Venus leaves off. Mean planets! Which essentially means, mid-March through early May, focus on the do-overs and all of the re-’s (redo, revise, revisit, replenish, rethink, etc.), because the energy for anything brand new probably isn’t going to be too great. And make sure to give yourself plenty of time to rest and relax - we’ll all need it! The retrograde begins at 13 degrees Aries, so those of you Aries born March 30th - April 6th can feel the start of this retrograde most. The retrograde ends at 26 degrees Pisces, so those of you Pisces born after March 14th can feel the end of the retrograde most. For the rest of you, check the house(s) Venus will be retrograding in of your own natal chart, and any aspects Venus will make during its retrograde to your natal planets, to fully understand how it will impact you personally. If you’re a Taurus or Libra Sun, Moon, or Rising, you can feel off in a subtle way throughout the retrograde since Venus rules Taurus and Libra. If you have Venus retrograde in your natal or progressed chart, you may not feel the worst of this. Those individuals generally don't experience the difficulties of the retrograde because it feels more natural to them. Of course, chances are everyone else around them doesn't have the same aspect, so they can still experience difficulties brought on by others. Your Solar Return occurs around your birthday (the day before, of, or after), and is when the transit (moving) Sun returns to the exact same position it was at when you were born. Suggested Reading: Lunar Returns & the Moon in the Solar Return Chart It’s eclipse time! February brings with it our first set of eclipses for 2017. First up is a lunar eclipse in fire sign Leo on February 10th at 7:33PM ET. This eclipse in the first in Leo, and lunar eclipses tend to be more emotional, but Leo wants us to be a little happier and more positive, so we can try to look at serious matters and emotional issues through a positive lens. Let’s all have a little fun instead of getting caught up in the badness in the world? We can be a little more theatrical when we’re upset, and need to take it down a notch (or ten). We can benefit from being creative, playful, and joyful, and see that things aren’t so bad when we try to be positive. The lunar eclipse is sextile (positive aspect, two signs away) Jupiter in Libra, and trine (positive aspect, four signs away) Saturn in Sagittarius. These aspects add to the good energy of this eclipse, so we can be even more positive with Jupiter involved (the planet of optimism), and we can be more practical and disciplined with the energy with Saturn involved. This lunar eclipse occurs at 22 degrees 28 minutes Leo. Eclipses have a larger orb (5 degrees), and include two of the minor aspects (semisextiles and quincunxes), though they have a smaller orb (2 degrees), SO the aspects for this eclipse are: Conjunction: 17 degrees 28 minutes - 27 degrees 28 minutes Leo Semisextile: 20 degrees 28 minutes - 24 degrees 28 minutes Cancer or Virgo Sextile: 17 degrees 28 minutes - 27 degrees 28 minutes Gemini or Libra Trine: 17 degrees 28 minutes - 27 degrees 28 minutes Aries or Sagittarius Quincunx: 20 degrees 28 minutes - 24 degrees 28 minutes Capricorn or Pisces Opposition: 17 degrees 28 minutes - 27 degrees 28 minutes Aquarius A solar eclipse occurs on February 26th at 9:58AM ET in water sign Pisces. This is the last of the Pisces eclipses, so we can see a lot of wrapping up going on with this eclipse, especially since Pisces is the last sign. We can take everything that we’ve dealt with over the last couple years with the Pisces eclipses, and put it all together, wrap it up, and get a fresh start. We can be more compassionate, understanding, whimsical, imaginative, intuitive, and soulful. We can get in touch with our spiritual sides, and we can find a way to connect to the subtle vibrations around us. This solar eclipse is conjunct (aligned with) Neptune in Pisces, and Neptune is the ruler of Pisces. This amplifies the Pisces energy even more, and we can be even more intuitive, even more spiritual, even more imaginative, and even more compassionate. Neptune and Pisces energy, in prediction, is “dissolving”, and things tend to fade out of our lives. We may see something in the world dissolve away, fade into the background, becoming a distant memory as we move on. This solar eclipse occurs at 8 degrees 12 minutes Pisces. The aspects for this eclipse are: Conjunction: 3 degree 12 minutes - 13 degrees 12 minutes Pisces Semisextile: 6 degrees 12 minutes - 10 degrees 12 minutes Aries or Aquarius Sextile: 3 degree 12 minutes - 13 degrees 12 minutes Taurus or Capricorn Square: 3 degree 12 minutes - 13 degrees 12 minutes Gemini or Sagittarius Trine: 3 degree 12 minutes - 13 degrees 12 minutes Cancer or Scorpio Quincunx: 6 degrees 12 minutes - 10 degrees 12 minutes Leo or Libra Opposition: 3 degree 12 minutes - 13 degrees 12 minutes Virgo Note: Eclipses are new and full moons that occur 18 ½ degrees from the lunar nodes. Lunar eclipses fall on full moons, while solar eclipse fall on new moons. Eclipses can impact up to six months before and after. Aries February 2017 Monthly Horoscope Venus enters your sign, Aries, on February 3rd, and you can be more comfortable with and enjoy getting attention, being in the spotlight, or being praised. In love, you can be more charming, and if single, you can find it easier to attract new people to you, and you can enjoy the attention you get. If in a relationship, you may make it more of a priority, and want your partner to give you more of their time. As we start a new year, we don’t just focus on the new things we want to get started in our lives. It’s also a time to focus on the stuff we need to let go of, move on from, and say goodbye to. This is governed by the 12th house, which is the house of endings. Make sure you're signed up for the free monthly worksheet so you can keep track of the planets every month (and know when to plan for things like endings!). Good Times to Say Goodbye Astrologically:
If you want the ending to go smoothly, you usually want to see positive aspects (sextiles and trines) by transit (moving) Jupiter, Saturn, or Pluto to your 12th house cusp, ruler, or Neptune (the natural ruler of the 12th house). This will help you say goodbye and move on without too much nastiness.
If it’s something that will be quick, you can use a Uranus aspect, and even conjunctions, square, and oppositions (the hard aspects) by Uranus can be positive, especially if it’s a big change where you’ve been stuck and need a giant push to do. Uranus is the planet that rules the sudden, so Uranus is usually involved when it's quick. This may be an aspect by transit Uranus or an aspect to your natal Uranus. But when it is a hard aspect, there may be an unexpected quality to it, and you have some adjustments to make. Pluto conjunctions, squares, and oppositions can also be used for big change. It may be more of a challenge though, and you really have to push hard for the ending to come. You may have some trials and tribulations to go through first, and you end up learning a lot about yourself, others, relationships, or life. Transit Neptune aspects can be good for saying goodbye depending on the planet or house being aspected and what they rule. If it’s a love relationship, it can be aspects to Venus, the 5th house (of love), or the 7th house (of relationships). If it’s with your work or career, it can be aspects to Mercury or the 6th house (of work), or Saturn or the 10th house (of career). The nature of Neptune is to "dissolve", and it's the natural ruler of the 12th house of endings, so it's naturally associated with endings. With Neptune, they're not usually as dramatic as with other planets (especially Uranus and Pluto), and it can be more of a gradual fading away into the background and out of your life at times. It can also be helpful to see the planet that rules whatever it is you’re letting go of transiting (touring) the 12th house (so if it’s a love relationship, transit Venus in the 12th house; if it’s with your work life, transit Mercury in the 12th house, etc.). If you don’t have that, you can use the transit planet of the natal planet that rules the house that rules the matter in your natal chart (so if your 7th house is in Sagittarius, Jupiter is the ruler - that would make transit Jupiter in the 12th house can be good for endings in a relationship). Transit Mars in the 12th house can be an excellent time for goodbyes and a lot of letting go, and often is a time where you absolutely want and need to. This is because Mars is the planet of energy and drive, so you can be driven to clean out your life and let go of anything that’s been holding you back. It can be best when you also have a positive transit aspect to the 12th house cusp, ruler, or natal Neptune or transit Neptune aspect at the same time that transit Mars is in the 12th house. Challenging Goodbyes: Saturn
Transit Saturn in the 12th house or conjunct, square, or opposite the 12th house cusp or ruler can make it harder for you to say goodbye, because you usually have hoops to jump through or extra stuff that needs to be addressed. Saturn is restrictive by nature and wants to teach us lessons, so it may be really uncomfortable to say goodbye, or there may be issues that have to be resolved first before goodbye is possible.
BUT it can also become super important for you to say goodbye with Saturn, because Saturn may not stop tormenting you until you do, if this is truly the right thing for you to be doing. Saturn always wants you to do the right thing, but also wants to make sure you do it the right way. Suggested Reading: Beginnings & Astrology |
