January 2014 Full & New Moons: New Moon in Capricorn, Full Moon in Cancer, & New Moon in Aquarius
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are exactly opposing one another in the zodiac. It tends to signal a time of endings, culminations, and things coming to fruition. A new moon occurs when the transit Sun and Moon are in the exact same spot in the zodiac. It tends to signal a time of new opportunities, growth, and optimism. For information on how the new/full moons may impact your sign, read the monthly horoscope. January 1st 2014 New Moon in Capricorn A new moon occurs at 6:14AM ET at 10 degrees 57 minutes of Capricorn. In Capricorn, we’re ambitious and hard-working, focused on what we want and our goals for life, and the direction life is going in. A fitting way to start a new year! We’re making lots of resolutions that we believe in whole-heartedly, and we’re practical about them as well. This new moon is conjunct (in the same spot as) transit (moving) Mercury and Pluto. Our minds are active, we come up with new ideas, we have to communicate and share, we’re intense and passionate, and we want to transform. The only problem with this new moon is that it’s in the same sign as Venus, which is retrograde (appears to be moving backward) when this new moon occurs, so we don’t see quite as much positive energy with this new moon as we’d like. It could be an excellent moon for starting something over again, pursuing an old goal, and shifting direction. If you're a Capricorn Sun, Moon, or mid-Capricorn rising, you may feels the effects of this moon most. January 15th 2014 Full Moon in Cancer A full moon occurs at 11:52PM ET at 25 degrees 58 minutes of Cancer. In Cancer, we’re sensitive and emotional. We want to be safe and nurtured, and if we’re put down, it wounds us, but we try not to show it. We don’t want to be in ay uncomfortable situations or places, or with people we don’t know well. We’re far more sensitive when that’s the case. We crave support and encouragement, warmth and kindness. Family, or those we think of as family, can be of comfort to us, or can be the ones making us feel the worst. We may spend more time at home, or in the place we think of as home. We need shelter, a safe refuge from the harsh world, and retreat when we feel threatened. If you're a Cancer Sun, Moon, or late Cancer rising, you may feel the effects of this moon most. January 30th 2014 New Moon in Aquarius A new moon occurs at 4:39PM ET at 10 degrees 55 minutes of Aquarius. We have a second new moon in January, and in Aquarius, we want to break away from social norms and do things in different ways. We take a look at situations and life from different angles, trying to find innovative solutions. We embrace what’s unique and different, original ideas and inventions, and people who embrace their individual self. We’re a little rebellious, but in a good way. We’re unconventional, and proud of it. This energy is amplified by the fact that this new moon is sextile (positive aspect) transit (moving) Uranus in Aries, and Uranus is the planetary ruler of Aquarius. The Venus retrograde will be ending the say after this new moon, so we may be feeling the weight of that lifting, and the relief we feel makes us want to go outside of our comfort zones and let out a wilder part of ourselves. If you're an Aquarius Sun, Moon, or mid-Aquarius rising, you may feels the effects of this moon most. Comments are closed.
