Mars is going to turn retrograde soon, and appears to move backward starting in Leo on December 6th, and then in Cancer starting on January 6th, until February 23rd 2025. Mars retrograde can bring up aggression, irritation, and major frustration, and we need to channel this wisely to avoid blowups. This retrograde is particularly challenging at the start since Mercury is also retrograde November 25th - December 15th, so they overlap December 6th - 15th. We have to be smart!

Mars retrograde in Cancer can zap your energy to give you a chance to reflect and understand. Virgo: Energy can be frustrating while Mars is retrograde in Leo, and you can have a hard time having the energy you need when you need it. You likely need to spend extra time resting and recharging, and get away from demanding people. Something from the past can come back and you become aware of how you have stood in your own way. Mars retrograde in Cancer can make you more rebellious, but also more open to change. Libra: It can be extra frustrating if it feels like anyone is trying to box you in while Mars is retrograde in Leo, and you can push for more independence. Mars retrograde in Cancer can prompt you to think bigger, but you may want to run and that doesn’t help. Work with what you’ve got. Sagittarius: Getting the space you need can be more important when Mars is retrograde in Leo, and you may want to run away from responsibilities to get it, but that just leads to more issues. Be creative with the time you have, and open your mind. Mars retrograde in Cancer can bring attention to something deep inside of you, and you may need to work on being more serious and focused with it. A transformation might be required of you, and this can be daunting but empowering. Capricorn: There can be something serious that you have to address with Mars retrograde in Leo, and you may want to avoid it, but this just makes it worse. Face it, and work on solving it. That can help you get some relief. Mars retrograde in Cancer can bring attention to challenges in a relationship or partnership, and you may need to make a compromise. Try to avoid being aloof about it, and take it seriously. Aquarius: The people in your life may need more attention with Mars retrograde in Leo, and they can get on your nerves and be quite frustrating. You may need to be more understanding, and work on better balance. You can also feel inclined to reconnect with someone from the past. Mars retrograde in Cancer turns your attention to work, and you may feel stressed out about something. Try to prioritize your wellness, and take care of yourself. Pisces: Anxiousness can be high with Mars retrograde in Leo, and you may struggle with calming yourself down. Try to have healthy outlets for stress and upset, and make time for breaks and to get enough rest. Try to treat your body well, and improve your regimen. Mars retrograde in Cancer can make you crave more fun and time away from work. If you can get the time away, that can be good, but if you can’t, try to bring some fun into your daily life so you don’t get as frustrated. Asteroid Abundantia, the asteroid of abundance, is exiting earth sign Capricorn and entering air sign Aquarius soon. This transit of Ceres in Aquarius will last about two-and-a-half months, and it's a welcome change after Abundantia spent so long in restrictive Capricorn.
Abundantia can impact abundance. How will Abundantia in Aquarius impact us? Asteroid Abundantia in Aquarius 2024-2025 Dates:
Asteroid Abundantia in Aquarius 2024-2025 General Impact:
Asteroid Abundantia moving into Aquarius can be a breath of fresh air. Abundantia was in Capricorn for an extended period thanks to retrograding, or appearing to move backward, in Capricorn, and it's been extra restrictive as a result. Abundant energy might've been lacking for many of us this year, and we're ready for a change.
Enter Aquarius, the sign of change, and Abundantia in Aquarius means change is coming, and abundantly. In fact, on the same day Abundantia enters Aquarius, so does Venus and Ceres, and all three hook up with Pluto, who is now in Aquarius. This is HUGE energy, and it's right away. We've likely been itching for this change, and we are so ready for it. We can pounce on it fast, and don't need to wait long. This is incredibly different from how energy has been, all stale and stagnant. Capricorn is traditional while Aquarius is the sudden, the unexpected, and the unconventional. This is time for a huge change, something really unexpected that comes out of left field, and we're all left feeling a sense of relief, like FINALLY! We've been waiting for so long! We're turning the page, moving into the next chapter, and ready for the future. Pluto has been priming us for this as it's been flirting with Aquarius, and is now fully in this sign once Abundantia, Ceres, and Venus enter and conjunct Pluto, and Abundantia actually conjuncts Pluto the very first day it enters Aquarius. We may see something big come to an end just beforehand as well, and this helps us usher in this new energy. Abundantia, Ceres, and Venus are also triggered the Great Mutation, which occured in December 2020 in Aquarius. This is when transit Jupiter and Saturn conjunct, which occurs roughly every twenty years, and when it changes elements, this is the Great Mutation, which occurs roughly every two hundred years. We may not have felt the start of this right away thanks to strong Capricorn energy still in play, but Pluto moving into Aquarius jumpstarts it, and with Abundantia, Ceres, and Venus coming to play, it ushers in this whole new era for the world. You may want to find in your natal chart where 0-1 degrees Aquarius falls in your natal houses, since whatever that house rules likely gets this huge boost. And if you have any planets or bodies at 0-1 degrees Aquarius, that planet gets a HUGE boost, and super focus, and you'll likely be doing something with whatever it rules. With Abundantia in Aquarius, abundance can come quickly, suddenly, out of nowhere, unexpectedly, and in unconventional ways. We may have an abundance of independence, innovation, and invention with Aquarius. We can also be abundantly social, and expand our social circles. The future can get us excited, and we can see it coming now. We can have a plethora of dreams, and are brimming with hope. This is a big time. Don't miss it! Asteroid Abundantia in Aquarius 2024-2025 Aspects:
Abundantia will oppose Mars retrograde in Leo on December 19th 2024 at 4 degrees, and Mars retrograde is challenging energy, and Abundantia might explode it. There could be some extra aggression, frustration, and it might feel like something is out of our control. We need to be flexible and not go too far with our reactions.
On January 31st 2025, Abundantia is square, which is a challenging aspect, Uranus in Taurus at 23 degrees, and Uranus retrograde ends on January 30th 2025 square Abundantia. Uranus is the natural ruler of Aquarius, so we might have some difficulty with some sort of change, with something unexpected or unpredictable, and we might be restless, impatient, and impulsive. It's tempting to act fast and jump to fix it, but we might not be all that smart about it at this point, so we need to make sure we're doing our homework. Satisfy the desire for change by working on small changes. Abundantia conjuncts Mercury in Aquarius on February 13th 2025 at 28 degrees. Mercury rules the mind and expression, so there can be an abundance of information flowing, communications, conversations, ideas, and plans. We can be super active and expressive, engaging and sociable. We can be interested in a variety of subjects and projects and topics, and we can juggle more than usual. About Asteroid Talent:
Asteroid Talent is literally the asteroid of Talent, and in your natal chart, shows where your biggest talents are. In transit, Talent can show what talents are being spotlighted, how we're approaching them, and how well we're using them.

Asteroid Talent in Capricorn 2024-2025 General Impact:
Asteroid Talent in Capricorn puts the asteroid of talent in the sign of goals, direction, and discipline. This means we can be especially talented with discipline, or we may use more discipline with the talents we have. We may showcase our talents in our goals, using them to our advantage, or we may set goals that directly tie into our talents. We may hit new heights with our talents, and may achieve in some way.
We can be more responsible with our talents, and we can showcase talents when we're being disciplined, responsible, and mature. We can take our talents more seriously, and want to have some control over them. Talents may get more recognition, and we can give more attention to talents in the public eye. Talents might be turned into careers, or used professionally somehow. We may see talents being showcased more in those who are older. Instead of reserving talent for the young, we may pay more attention to those who are past Saturn Return age since Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn. Talents that have been worked on for a long time, homed in on, that we've been smart with and dedicated to, and that we're passionate about can get more attention as well. We may pay more attention to leaders, governments, countries, and corporations as these are all ruled by Capricorn. Asteroid Talent was in Scorpio and Sagittarius all year thanks to a retrograde period, so we may welcome the change in Capricorn. Asteroid Capricorn in Capricorn 2024-2025 Aspects:
Asteroid Talent sextiles, which is a beneficial aspect, Saturn in Pisces on December 20th, and Saturn is the natural ruler of Capricorn, so this makes it easier for us to be disciplined with our talents,to use talents professionally, and to hit our stride with our talents.
Asteroid Talents sextiles Uranus in Taurus on January 10th, and we might make some changes with our talents, or use our talents to create change. We can be more independent in pursuing our talents. Asteroid Talent opposes Mars retrograde in Cancer on January 17th, and a planet or body is called retrograde when it appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac. This throws the energy off. Talent in opposition to Mars retrograde might show there is a problem with some talent, that there is great failure or major aggression that is showcased, and this holds many back as a result. Asteroid Talent sextiles Neptune in Pisces on January 24th, and this helps with creative talents, spiritual talents, and talents of help. Asteroid Talent in Capricorn only makes two conjunctions, and the first is to the Sun on January 13th. This shines a light on our talents, and we spend more time on them and give them more attention. The second is a conjunction to Mercury on January 27th, and this occurs at the anaretic degree, which is 29 degrees of any sign, or the last degree of a Zodiac sign. This can trigger major activity with talents, and some particularly talented person may get a lot of people talking about them, or we may focus more on mental talents. Saturn turns direct in just a few days on November 15th, and begins to move forward again in Pisces. With Saturn no longer being retrograde, this can open more up for us, and we normally move toward clarity and opportunities - but are stalled out for now thanks to other retrogrades and a sticky Full Moon!
What is Saturn Direct?
A body in astrology is called retrograde when it appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac. When they're no longer appearing to be moving backward and instead appear to go forward again, this is called turning direct.
Saturn retrogrades for a few months every year, and Saturn is the planet of restriction and limitation. This is doubled-down on while Saturn is retrograde, and we can feel super restricted, super limited, like our options have been zapped. This can be frustrating, but we generally lack the focus, discipline, or motivation to do much about it, and it can take some time to get back on track. With this coming to an end, we can focus on opening up our lives again and finding more opportunities. We can work on being more optimistic, less pessimistic, and seeing things as they really are rather than what we fear them to be. Saturn in Pisces focuses on our subconscious minds, our spiritual selves, our intuition, and our karma. We can work on any of these things now, and feel we have more options to process lessons and learn. The Taurus Full Moon Stagnates
On the same day as Saturn direct, we have a Taurus Full Moon. Full Moons are emotional energy, but Taurus Full Moons are usually more stubborn and stuck. They keep us in place as we refuse to budge, insisting we're right, or scared of what might be different.
The Taurus Full Moon can hold on to the Saturn energy, and we feel a bit stalled. There's usually some time after a retrograde ends before we get back to usual anyway, and it might seem like we're extra stuck this time. There is likely something we need to be working on, addressing, that is keeping us in place. We may prefer avoiding it, but that doesn't help us much. We have to find some motivation to take action and work slowly, deliberately, and purposefully. Mercury Is Going to Retrograde
Mercury retrograde begins on November 25th, 10 days after this Saturn direct, so we fold right into the next round of Mercury madness. The Mercury retrograde occurs in Sagittarius, naturally ruled by Jupiter, and is the sign of expansion, new experiences, and exploration. Mercury retrograde in this sign means we likely won't have as many options, so the limitations of Saturn retrograde might continue.
With Mercury retrograde, we might lash out because of this. We can push too hard and too fast, and run away. We've been restricted for too long, and we want to bust out, but this usually isn't the right way to handle it. We need to be smart, and we need some disciplined, as Saturn would have us act. Since Mercury retrograde starts just ten days later, it might feel like we're flipping around and all over the place as Saturn changes direction, going forward, and then Mercury changes direction, going backward. Things might be a little wonky thanks to this, and we have to be flexible, especially with both Saturn and Mercury in mutable signs (the flowing adaptable signs). Pluto is Exiting Capricorn
Four days after Saturn direct, on November 19th, Pluto is shoving off, leaving Capricorn for good and entering Aquarius. This is huge, the biggest event of 2024 as Pluto is now starting a whole new cycle, and our lives are moving into a whole new phase. This is the end of one era in Capricorn and the start of another in Aquarius.
This began in March 2023 when Pluto first entered Aquarius, but it's official now as Pluto stays in this sign for almost 2 more decades. So, we're coming out of Saturn retrograde, and we're immediately staring down Pluto in Aquarius. We have to, once again, be flexible. This is a lot of changing energy all at once thanks to Saturn, Pluto, and Mercury, and the Taurus Full Moon might make us want to throw up our hands and give up quickly from the overwhelm. But that's not smart, so focus on flexibility. Aspects to Saturn Direct:
This year's Saturn direct comes at 12 degrees 42 minutes of Pisces. The major aspects to Saturn direct are between 9 and 15 degrees of:
Pisces: conjunction Taurus and Capricorn: sextile Gemini and Sagittarius: square Cancer and Scorpio: trine Virgo: opposition Sextiles and trines are considered beneficial aspects, so any bodies making these aspects are working well with Saturn. If you have any planets or bodies at these positions in your natal chart, you can work with the energy well, and have an easier time using any opportunities you have, creating more options, and being disciplined. Squares and oppositions are considered challenging aspects, so any bodies making these aspects are at odds with Saturn. If you have any planets or bodies at these positions in your natal chart, you feel extra restricted and have a lot of work to do, still. You have to be smart, and do things the right way and for the right reasons, and make sure to learn any lessons you have left with them. Conjunctions are considered neutral aspects that amplify the energy involved. In the case of Saturn, conjunctions make it even more important to be disciplined, to be smart, to have plans, and to do things right. You need to be ethical, responsible, and mature in all Saturn things. If you do that, you can see rewards once Saturn moves on. The best way to utilize this Saturn Direct:
Saturn in Pisces focuses on your past, subconscious, soul, and karma, so focus this Saturn direct on any of those things. What from the past do you need to better understand, reflect on, dig deeper into it, and let go of?
Dig into your subconscious mind, and try to understand yourself better, your motivations and actions, and what has led you to where you are now. What still needs to change? Connect with your spiritual self. This might mean taking time for spiritual projects or ventures, or simply getting some time to be more introspective, to be still, and to have some quiet. And then there's karma, and it can be a good time to work on releasing some karmic baggage. If it feels like something's weighing on you that doesn't connect with anything in this life, it might be karmic baggage that needs to be done away with. Saturn in Pisces is big for endings, and this is the end of a cycle. That times out well with Pluto changing signs (and Uranus and Neptune next year). What is ending for you now, and how can you learn and grow from this? Here comes December, the final month of 2024, and with it comes an extra New Moon! What can we expect?
What is a New Moon?
A new moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact same position in the Zodiac (called a conjunction). New moons are related to beginnings, have high energy, and are enthusiastic.
What is a Full Moon?
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). Full moons are related to endings, culminations, and are emotional energy.
New Moon in Sagittarius: December 1st 2024 (1:22AM ET/November 30th @ 10:22PM PT)
The month of December kicks off with a New Moon in optimistic Sagittarius on the 1st, and this is usually a great New Moon where we're focused on new opportunities, new experiences, and open to expansion and exploration. We have a good view of the big picture, and we can see what's possible now.
BUT this New Moon comes with Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius! A body in astrology is called retrograde when it appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac, and this can throw things off. Since Mercury is retrograde in the same sign as this New Moon, we may not be focused on anything new, and instead, want to take second chances. Retrogrades are times for do overs, and when we have a New Moon alongside one, this is an excellent time to take a second chance and do things over again. We can focus on something we tried but failed at, we started but didn't finish, or we didn't get off of the ground for some reason. With Sagittarius, this might be a big idea, something that would expand some part of our lives, or an experience we had that we can pursue again and learn more from. This is a great time to relearn something we've forgotten or need to hone in on, as well as to teach something we have before, or to do some writing and revising. We can also travel to somewhere we've been to before and want to see again (though do keep in mind, travel in general might be a little challenging!). The New Moon occurs at 9 degrees 33 minutes Sagittarius. Aspects to the New Moon are: Conjunction: 7 degrees 33 minutes - 11 degrees 33 minutes Sagittarius Sextile: 7 degrees 33 minutes - 11 degrees 33 minutes Libra or Aquarius Square: 7 degrees 33 minutes - 11 degrees 33 minutes Virgo or Pisces Trine: 7 degrees 33 minutes - 11 degrees 33 minutes Aries or Leo Opposition: 7 degrees 33 minutes - 11 degrees 33 minutes Gemini Full Moon in Gemini: December 15th 2024 (4:01AM ET/1:01AM PT)
The Full Moon in Gemini puts the emotional Full Moon in the sign of the mind and expression, so Gemini Full Moons are usually times where we express what we're feeling more easily, and we can say what we mean and mean what we say. We can be authentic and open, and we want to feel understood. We can connect mentally with others, and we can focus on the ideas and plans that connect with us emotionally. We likely need an outlet for our minds so we don't overthink things, cause stress and anxiety for ourselves, and cause a mental meltdown.
This Full Moon also makes no aspects, but comes on the same day Mercury retrograde ends (the Full Moon is almost 12 hours before), and Mercury is the natural ruler of Gemini. This means we're extra focused on the retrograde energy, and we may struggle with something emotional coming out of the retrograde. There might be upsetting news, or outright bad news. Something might be coming to an end, but it might not feel like it's ending in the right way just yet (likely because it's not really over yet thanks to Mars retrograde until February). We may need to work on improving your communications with others, expressing ourselves in new ways, and doing a better job at listening. There might be a lot of information flowing with this Full Moon, but it's in one ear and out the other, so we have to work on really listening. The Full Moon occurs at 23 degrees 53 minutes Gemini. Aspects to the Full Moon are: Conjunction: 21 degrees 53 minutes - 25 degrees 53 minutes Gemini Sextile: 21 degrees 53 minutes - 25 degrees 53 minutes Aries or Leo Square: 21 degrees 53 minutes - 25 degrees 53 minutes Virgo or Pisces Trine: 21 degrees 53 minutes - 25 degrees 53 minutes Libra or Aquarius Opposition: 21 degrees 53 minutes - 25 degrees 53 minutes Sagittarius New Moon in Capricorn: December 30th 2024 (5:27PM ET/2:27PM PT)
The year comes to a close with a New Moon in Capricorn, the sign of goals and direction, which is kind of perfect as we move into 2025. We can set goals, we can focus on what we want to achieve in the new year, and we want to feel like we're setting ourselves up on the right path for success. We can be disciplined, practical, realistic, and hard-working in smart ways.
This is helped by Mercury retrograde now over for this New Moon, however Mars is still retrograde (starts December 6th, lasts until February 23rd). Mars retrograde can inhibit our ability to take the initiative with what we want, so we may put together lots of plans and set new goals for the new year, but we may not take action right away. It might feel like the first few months of 2025 are stalled out thanks to retrogrades, so we have to be patient and make the most of opportunities when we have them as they may not last long. Retrogrades are times for second chances, so many of you might focus on goals that are for second chances and do overs instead of something brand new. This might tie into the energy with the Sagittarius New Moon and carries over into the Capricorn New Moon and for the first 4 months or so of 2025. It's actually great energy for a second chance, so if there's something you want to give another shot, this can be a time to do just that. The New Moon occurs at 9 degrees 44 minutes Capricorn. The aspects to the New Moon are: Conjunction: 7 degrees 44 minutes - 11 degrees 44 minutes Capricorn Sextile: 7 degrees 44 minutes - 11 degrees 44 minutes Scorpio or Pisces Square: 7 degrees 44 minutes - 11 degrees 44 minutes Aries or Libra Trine: 7 degrees 44 minutes - 11 degrees 44 minutes Taurus or Virgo Opposition: 7 degrees 44 minutes - 11 degrees 44 minutes Cancer Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for general interpretations by house and aspect
Ceres will finally bow out of Capricorn and move into future-focused Aquarius in early December, and it's going to come with a bang! Let's cover what you can expect (hint, expect the unexpected!).
What is Ceres in astrology?
Ceres is technically a dwarf planet (like Pluto) but in astrology, we call it an asteroid (as it was before the dwarf planet designation). Ceres is super nurturing, supportive, caring, and there for you. It's like a supercharged Moon, maybe mixed with a little Venus.
You can find Ceres in your own chart on astro.com (in Extended Chart Selection, click on Additional Objects, and select Ceres from the menu). Ceres in Aquarius 2024-2025 Dates:
General Impact of Ceres in Aquarius:
Ceres spent a while in traditional Capricorn thanks to a retrograde period May - August 2024. This has bogged us down, and kept us stuck in the old ways, and brought out remaining Capricorn issues as Pluto is nearing the end of its time in Capricorn (and we had two Capricorn Full Moons midyear adding to this). It's been intense and serious and has weighed on us - but Ceres moving to Aquarius changes everything, and fast!
Aquarius is the sudden and unexpected, the future and change, the unconventional and eccentric, independence and individuality - all that is very different from Capricorn, and we're ready to hit the ground running. On the same day Ceres enters Aquarius, so does Venus, as well as an asteroid, Abundantia, the asteroid of abundance. This comes just after Pluto has finally moved into Aquarius for good on November 19th, and Ceres, Venus, and Abundantia all conjunct Pluto very quickly. Wowza! This is huge because of what Aquarius rules - change, the unconventional, and the future. We've been stuck in traditional Capricorn for a while, and we're ready for something else. It's time for the future! We can embrace the change, and we can go forth boldly. Thanks to Pluto in the mix, this change might come super fast, but it's one that can last for many years to come. Pluto is in Aquarius until 2044, so we've got a while with this. We're not just making a change for the sake of change - we're ushering in a whole new future. This is massive, and we can be ready for it. We can see that this is change that needs to happen, and we want it to. We can turn the page, start a new chapter, embark on a whole new journey for our lives. It's really something! With Ceres, this impacts our resources, so we may get access to all new resources, or make big changes regarding the resources we already have. Ceres rules money, so we might experience big changes with our finances in some way; with Venus and Abundantia involved, this is likely a positive change. Ceres rules nourishment and support, so we might be making changes in what we need to feel nourished and supported, and in how we nurture others and provide support. Aquarius also rules our friends and groups, so we may give more support to our friends and to groups we belong to, and also feel more supported by our friends and groups. We can pour more resources and support in causes we champion, and we can be greater humanitarians. Now, on the downside, Ceres in Aquarius does ride with Mars retrograde, which begins the day before Ceres enters Aquarius, and lasts until the day Ceres exits Aquarius. So, we do have to keep this under control, and not let the Mars retrograde cause us to lash out. We have to make sure we've got healthy outlets for frustrations and aggravation with Mars retrograde, and not give in to impulse. We may focus on taking more second chances, revising, and understanding the past. This helps us move toward the future without all of the baggage, and without making the same mistakes twice. If we can just manage the Mars retrograde, this is an amazing period and it starts right away - don't miss it! Ceres in Aquarius 2024-2025 Aspects:
Ceres in Aquarius is only making 6 aspects. They are:
- Conjunct Pluto on December 8th 2024 @ 0 degrees Aquarius: This is part of the big energy right away as Ceres, Venus, and Abundantia all change signs and conjunct Pluto. Pushing us into the future and into the next phase! With Pluto, this can be an empowering transformation. - Opposite Mars Retrograde in Leo on December 20th 2024 @ 4 degrees: This can be difficult with Mars retrograde, and we may lash out about something we're insecure about. We need to make sure we're grounded, but also not stuck. Be resourceful and give yourself support. - Square Uranus in Taurus on January 6th 2025 @ 23 degrees: We may be extra restless with this aspect, and there can be something unexpected that we're dealing with. We need to try to avoid being impulsive, and focus on small changes. - Trine Jupiter in Gemini on January 9th 2025 @ 12 degrees: This is a helpful aspect, and we can get access to new resources, find new ways to get and give support, and generally feel more optimistic. - Conjunct Mercury on February 11th 2025 @ 25 degrees Aquarius: Mental energy surges, and we can come up with ideas for new resources, ground our minds, and voice support for someone or something. We can be active and engaged. - Conjunct the Sun on February 14th 2025 @ 26 degrees Aquarius: This shines a light on our resources, finances, support, and nourishment, and we can get and give more support, and work to improve access to resources or the way we use resources. Final Note:
Ceres spent a very long time in Capricorn, and this tour in Aquarius goes much faster - not to mention starts off with a bang! So we're definitely focusing on the future now, and ready for the change to come.
