November 2024 comes with a passionate Scorpio New Moon and a stubborn Taurus Full Moon. What can we expect?
What is a New Moon?
A New Moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact same position in the Zodiac (called a conjunction). New Moons are related to beginnings, have high energy, and are enthusiastic.
What is a Full Moon?
A Full Moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). Full Moons are related to endings, culminations, and are emotional energy.
New Moon in Scorpio: November 1st 2024 (7:47AM ET/4:47AM PT)
The Scorpio New Moon brings a lot of intensity and passion, the way of Scorpio, but focused on New Moon energy, so we're extra intense and passionate about new beginnings, new ventures, new projects, and new journeys in life. We see how this can benefit us, and we can be passionate about how we go about this and what it brings.
Scorpio is transformations, so we may embark on new transformations for the better. Some may embark on quick transformations and see results within a week or two; others may embark on long transformations, and these can continue for years to come. Wherever we fall, we can be passionate about this and see it through to the end. Scorpio rules "other people's money", which is money that doesn't only impact or belong to us. Think: taxes, loans, debts, inheritances, joint finances, business finances, stocks, investments, etc. This New Moon can bring more focus to these areas, and we may embark on new mutually-beneficial ventures. Scorpio is researching and investigative, so if we need to get to the heart of something, we can keep digging until we do. There is no mystery we can't solve, no problem we can't fix, no secret we can't uncover under Scorpio's impact. We can stay focused, and this helps us take control. This can be empowering, and we can be more comfortable with our personal power. The natural ruler of Scorpio, Pluto, is anaretic for this New Moon. There are 30 degrees in every Zodiac sign, and 29 degrees is the last degree. It's called the anaretic degree, and it's supercharged energy, and incredibly strong with Pluto. Pluto is on its way out of Capricorn eighteen days after this New Moon, so we're wrapping things up with this transit. This means the New Moon is likely triggering us to take action in a big way, fast, before Pluto moves on. We have one last push to take action, and this New Moon has opportunities for us to do that. We just have to take it. The New Moon occurs at 9 degrees 35 minutes Scorpio The aspects to the New Moon are: Conjunction: 7 degrees 35 minutes - 11 degrees 35 minutes Scorpio Sextile: 7 degrees 35 minutes - 11 degrees 35 minutes Virgo or Capricorn Square: 7 degrees 35 minutes - 11 degrees 35 minutes Leo or Aquarius Trine: 7 degrees 35 minutes - 11 degrees 35 minutes Cancer or Pisces Opposition: 7 degrees 35 minutes - 11 degrees 35 minutes Taurus Full Moon in Taurus: November 15th 2024 (4:28PM ET/1:28PM PT)
The November Full Moon comes to us in Taurus, and Taurus is the slow, steady Zodiac sign. It wants to take it easy, take a break, chill out, and relax. Since Full Moons are emotional, we may want to get a break from that and just take it easy. Why bother with the serious stuff? It can get done another time. No need to get worked up, it'll all work out eventually.
Taurus can be stubborn because of this though, and it doesn't want to budge, so we may be slower than usual with the Taurus Full Moon. When we become emotionally invested in something, we don't want to budge from our position, even when we know we're wrong. It takes more effort to get moving, but once we do get moving, we can keep at it. Taurus rules stability and security, so we can work on removing blocks to stability and security in our lives. This can also include our inner selves, our self-esteem and confidence, and we can work on trying to release some of what's been harming the way we feel about ourselves. This Full Moon is conjunct, or aligned with, Uranus in Taurus, and this can bring some unexpected developments that we're a little too lazy and stubborn to do anything about. We have to make sure we find the motivation we need to get moving so we don't get knocked off track. The conjunction to Uranus can also bring a major change, and that goes well with the fact that Pluto changes signs and moves to Aquarius just four days after this Full Moon. Things are changing in a big way with Pluto changing signs, leaving Capricorn and moving to Aquarius for twenty years. We may see the end of a change in our lives with this Full Moon, and we can be glad for the journey. Mercury is also going to retrograde, or appear to move backward, starting ten days after this Full Moon, so it's the last lunation before Pluto officially changes signs AND Mercury retrograde begins. It's the last chance for big endings with Pluto, and the last chance to set ourselves up before the retrograde starts. Clear out with the Full Moon, improve stability and security, and get rest if you need it. Leave room in your plans so you don't get too thrown when the retrograde begins. The Full Moon occurs at 24 degrees 1 minute Taurus. Aspects to the Full Moon are: Conjunction: 22 degrees 1 minute - 26 degrees 1 minute Taurus Sextile: 22 degrees 1 minute - 26 degrees 1 minute Cancer or Pisces Square: 22 degrees 1 minute - 26 degrees 1 minute Leo or Aquarius Trine: 22 degrees 1 minute - 26 degrees 1 minute Virgo or Capricorn Opposition: 22 degrees 1 minute - 26 degrees 1 minute Scorpio Suggested Reading: The New & Full Moons page for general interpretations by house and aspect
Pluto is about to turn direct on October 11th, and end its retrograde period. Pluto will be moving through the end of Capricorn until November 19th, when it shoves off into Aquarius to stay for twenty years. But we've gotta get through this Pluto direct first!
What is Pluto Direct?
A body in astrology is called retrograde when it appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac. When they're no longer appearing to be moving backward and instead appear to go forward again, this is called turning direct.
Pluto retrogrades for about half of every year, and is actually considered one of the more beneficial retrogrades. Retrogrades usually throw things off as the body operates in the opposite way it normally does; with Pluto being the intense and passionate planet of transformation, this is actually welcome, and Pluto retrograde gives us a chance to slow down on the massive transforming and adjust to what's come to pass. With that coming to an end, the intense transformations begin to return, and while it usually takes some time to kick back in, that may not be the case this time because Pluto is at the end of Capricorn and only has another month left in this sign. This means the transformations that remain undone with Pluto in Capricorn get sped up, activated, and shoved - fast! The window is closing, and we're running out of time, so Pluto wants us to take action while we still have the chance. Pluto Direct is Anaretic
In astrology, there are 30 degrees in every Zodiac sign, 360 degrees in the entire Zodiac. 29 degrees is the last degree of any Zodiac sign, and is called the anaretic degree. This is supercharged energy, and tends to be quite intense, and often chaotic, in transit like this.
Pluto re-entered Capricorn in retrograde on September 1st, and has been anaretic in Capricorn ever since. It'll remain anaretic in Capricorn until it exits in November, so it's been continuous, and remains so. But, it's likely to be most intense at the Pluto direct. When planets or bodies in astrology turn retrograde or direct, they slow way down so they're essentially hovering in about the same location. This is called stationing, and it amplifies the energy. With Pluto stationing direct at the anaretic degree in Capricorn, this is incredibly intense, unrelenting energy that we're dealing with. It's likely to be challenged into Capricorn things, so our goals and direction. We can also see this play out in the world with major developments with governments, institutions, and leaders since they're all ruled by Capricorn. In your own life, look to where 29 degrees Capricorn falls in your natal houses. This is where it gets funneled for you personally. What areas of life does the house rule? That's where you may find you have more intense energy with goals related to the house and the direction you're taking with it. Use the passion productively, and be open to even small transformations. To learn more about anaretic Pluto, check out the article Anaretic Pluto in Capricorn 2023 - 2024. Neptune and Mercury Touch Pluto Direct
Neptune in Pisces is sextile, which is a beneficial aspect, Pluto direct. This helps us use intuition and imagination with the transformations we're embarking on, and we can get help or work on our own.
We may want to tackle issues from the past, subconscious issues, or work on releasing, but this can be a positive thing and doesn't disrupt much. Mercury in Libra is square Pluto direct, which is a challenging aspect. Mercury is the planet of the mind and communication, so we may have a hard time seeing eye-to-eye with what we need to work on, we might struggle with getting information we need, and we might be prone to fighting. Our focus can be too intense, and we get wrapped up in whatever we're thinking about, obsessive, and can;t let it go. Conversely, our focus might be lacking too much, and we don't want to face what we need to. We likely need to work on getting to the heart of the problem. What it seems to be on the surface, likely won't be the actual problem. If we can get to the core, we work on solving. This also helps us channel the mental energy in a more productive way. Aspects to Pluto Direct:
This year's Pluto direct comes at 29 degrees 39 minutes of Capricorn. The major aspects to Pluto direct are between 26 and 29 degrees of:
Capricorn: conjunction Scorpio and Pisces: sextile Aries and Libra: square Taurus and Virgo: trine Cancer: opposition Sextiles and trines are considered beneficial aspects, so any bodies making these aspects are working well with Pluto. If you have any planets or bodies at these positions in your natal chart, you can work with the energy well, and take control of any last-minute changes you need to make with them. Squares and oppositions are considered challenging aspects, so any bodies making these aspects are at odds with Pluto. If you have any planets or bodies at these positions in your natal chart, you might be resisting the changes required, or are experiencing blocks and setbacks. You have to work on taking more initiative, and might have to face a fear or something that you're trying to avoid. Conjunctions are considered neutral aspects that amplify the energy involved. In the case of Pluto, conjunctions make it even more important to transform, empower, take control, and dig deep, all Pluto things. If you have any planets or bodies at this position in your natal chart, you have to embrace the Pluto passion, intensity, and transformations with them. I'll also note that since this direct is at the anaretic degree, if you have any planets or bodies at 29 degrees, no matter the Zodiac sign, it can get triggered by this turn direct. It'll likely be intense, no matter the aspect being made, and requires you to drill down and make use of the energy of the planet or body as productively as you can. The best way to utilize this Pluto Direct:
The Pluto direct in Capricorn is most focused on our goals and direction, so that's what we should be working on. Assess your goals and how you've been doing so far. What could be improved? What needs to change?

Do it right, and you should set yourself up for the long haul, the next phase of your life - to go toward the future with Pluto in Aquarius! Suggested Reading: Stationing & Direct in Astrology In astrology, we have the main triad, which are the Sun, Moon, and Rising. These are considered the basic foundation for your personality and who you are, with the Sun ruling your true self and the Rising ruling your outer self. The Moon rules your emotional self, and shows how you emotionally react to situations, and what you need for emotional stability and security. This is shown via the Zodiac sign your natal Moon falls in, and the natal house it resides in, and it's impacted by the aspects it makes to your other natal bodies. Being Upset Triggers Your Moon Sign
So, what can trigger you displaying your Moon sign? The first is when you're upset about something. When you're upset, you lean right into your natal Moon sign, and that can take over in many ways from your natal Sun.
Remember that the Moon is how you emotionally react, so when you're emotionally upset, you tend to react via your Moon sign. When you're upset, you're more likely to manifest the difficult, challenging, or outright bad manifestations of your Moon sign. Every position in astrology has a high (positive) and low (negative) way of manifesting itself, so when you're upset, you may lean into the low vibes. Being Happy Triggers Your Moon Sign
The second is when you're happy about something. How you emotionally react to something when you're happy can be found via your Moon sign. This is just the reverse of when you're upset about something.
When you're upset about something, you're more likely to show the bad sides to your Moon sign, but when you're happy about something, you're more likely to show the good sides or higher vibration to your Moon sign. Operating Unconsciously Triggers Your Moon Sign
The Moon has an unconscious element to it. The conscious is the Sun, Mercury, and Rising, and they are deliberate and focused. The Moon is more like Neptune, the planet of the subconscious, and doesn't usually operate when you're thinking about it.
Your Moon sign can come out when you're operating unconsciously, or more like, from a primal place. The Moon connects with our internal foundation, our family and heritage, so it connects with the humans back in the days when we were living outside and grunted a lot, ha. But when you tap into that primal aspect of yourself, you're more than likely going to tap into your Moon sign. Being Comfortable Triggers Your Moon Sign
The Moon rules comfort and familiarity and support, so when you're feeling comfortable, supported, and not in unfamiliar territory, you can manifest your Moon sign, especially the higher vibes. Confusion can trigger your Moon sign as well, but more in the lower vibes.
You can feel free to express yourself emotionally when you have the comfort and support you need. This allows you to step into your Moon sign energy. A Note About the High and Low Vibes
I do want to clarify there is no such thing as "good" or "bad" emotions - what makes them good or bad is our actions. This is where the high and low vibes come in. When we're manifesting the low vibes of our Moon sign, we're emotionally reacting negatively, and this is shown via our actions. We're lashing out, we're irrational, we're out of control, we're unleashing, and we're causing harm.
When we're manifesting the high vibes of our Moon sign, we're emotionally reacting positively and/or productively. We're using the beneficial side of our Moon sign to our advantage, and this can happen naturally. Suggested Reading: Strengthen Intuition With Emotional Security In astrology, there are 12 houses in a standard chart, and each house rules different parts of life and our personalities, and has its own energy. The twelfth house is the very last house, and is the house of the hidden. If we have any planets or bodies located in our natal twelfth house, that energy is consciously hidden from us, and when we have transit planets and bodies going through the twelfth house, their energy is also hidden. So when do we actually operate with our twelfth house energy? It's really 3 ways: 1: You're Operating Subconsciously and Intuitively
The twelfth house rules the subconscious mind, and it's not an area we're super consciously aware of most of the time, so we tend to tap into it when we're not consciously operating, and instead are acting on instinct and being driven by our subconscious.
This takes the conscious mind out of it, and we can tap into the subconscious and our intuitive selves. These are parts of ourselves we're often not aware of when they're taking over, and we're quick to act with them. People who have natal bodies in the twelfth house, especially the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, or Ceres, tend to have excellent instincts, and when they're just going with their gut instincts, they tend to do well. The problem is they usually don't trust themselves, and have to get out of their own heads in order to fully utilize their killer instincts. The more subconscious baggage we have, the more the twelfth house can manifest another of its rulerships: self-undoing. The twelfth house is where we sabotage ourselves and get in our own way, and this can manifest subconsciously if we're just shoving away that baggage in there and ignoring it. As we work through our subconscious baggage, this helps us manifest the twelfth house energy in a more positive, productive way, and when we act on our instincts and are driven subconsciously, this can become more beneficial for us. 2: You're With People You Know Really, Really Well
The twelfth house is the house of the hidden, so we generally don't show any of the energy there when we're in public, when we're with strangers, or in social situations. Instead, it can come out when we're not so guarded, and that usually means with those who we know super well and are really comfortable with.
This is kind of gated energy in our personalities, if you will. A select few see this side to ourselves. It can take a long time before we allow someone new to enter this house. This is partly conscious, as we're more guarded with new people, and consciously throw up blocks to protect ourselves. Once we start pulling the walls down, it's safer for the subconscious to come out, and we can become more 12th-house-ian. 3: You're Out of the Spotlight
The twelfth house doesn't want any attention. It wants to exist in the shadows, in the background, behind the scenes. So, we tend to display our twelfth house energy when we're not getting attention from others, when we're not putting ourselves out there, when we're not showcasing anything.
Instead, it comes out best when we're actually alone. Yes, being with those we're super comfortable with can also allow the twelfth house energy to come out, but we often fully don't use it until we're alone. It's just me, myself, and I, and my twelfth house! We all tend to behave a little differently when we're alone than when we're with any people, even those we know very well. Solitude and alone-time is pure twelfth house time. Suggested Reading: All About the Twelfth House in Astrology |
