Some people find their passion as children, and always know the career they want to have when they get older. Some find it as adults - and some never do! Astrology can be used to show almost anything, so what can show being a career late bloomer? Saturn, the Ultimate Late Bloomer
Saturn is the late bloomer planet, and usually makes you wait before you can get anything related to Saturn. This can be shown with the areas of life ruled by the sign and house your natal Saturn resides, as well as with planets conjunct or in the same sign as your natal Saturn.
Saturn usually wants you to learn your lessons first before you can get it. This means you have obstacles to overcome, old issues to work through, and lessons to learn. Saturn might make you a career late bloomer if it's: - in the 2nd house (of money), 6th house (of work), or 10th house (of career) - in Taurus (ruling money), in Virgo (ruling work), or in Capricorn (ruling career) - closely aspecting your natal 2nd house ruler, natal 6th house ruler, or natal 10th house ruler - in the same sign as your natal 2nd, 6th, or 10th house rulers Saturn is also a little complicated for career since Saturn is the planetary ruler of career, so if you just have a challenged Saturn, this may slow you down career-wise. Your natal Saturn is challenged if it's anaretic (at 29 degrees), at a critical degree, is a singleton (only planet in an element, quality, or house type), is the apex planet of a t-square, is conjunct an angle, is part of a stellium, or is intercepted. Since Saturn wants us to learn before we get whatever it is we want associated with it, you usually don't get whatever it is Saturn is impacting until you've had your first Saturn Return (when Saturn returns to the same exact position it was at when you were born). This happens between 28-32. This isn't that big of a deal though since that's probably the average age people start getting serious about their career (fitting since Saturn rules career). The Uncomfortable North Node
The North Node is a part of the Lunar Nodes, which are the points in the Moon's orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic. There's a North Node and a South Node that exactly oppose one another. The South Node is what you've already learned/are comfortable with/your past or early life, while the North Node is your potential, purpose, and what you need to grow into.
The North Node is unfamiliar and uncomfortable, so we usually gravitate to the South Node until we learn how to use the North Node. This tends to come with age and maturity. This means your North Node can make you a career late bloomer if it's: - in Taurus (ruler of money), Virgo (ruler of work), or Capricorn (ruler of career) - in the 2nd house (of money), 6th house (of work), or 10th house (of career) - in the same sign as your natal Saturn (planet of career), 2nd house ruler, 6th house ruler, or 10th house ruler There may be blocks you need to work through, and this can be seen through any planets square (3 signs away) your Lunar Nodes. Saturn, a planet in Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, or the 23nd, 6th, or 10th houses, or the 2nd, 6th, or 10th house ruler square your Lunar Nodes may also show issues with your career coming later. Your North Node is your potential and path in life, so it's where you'll find your ultimate life satisfaction and happiness. So while you may be a late bloomer with career, it does mean that once you figure it out, you're living your potential! Because the North Node is your potential, it's also directly tied to your career and ambitions, so like with Saturn, if your Lunar Nodes are challenged in general, you may be a career late bloomer. Your Lunar Nodes are challenged if they are anaretic (at 29 degrees), at a critical degree, intercepted, and potentially conjunct any angles (this isn't necessarily challenged, but the energy is higher and may be difficult to control). Challenged 2nd, 6th, and 10th House Rulers and Cusps
You may also be a career late bloomer if you have:
- your 2nd, 6th, or 10th house rulers anaretic, critical, singleton, retrograde (mainly if they're Mercury, Venus, or Mars), or intercepted - your 2nd, 6th, or 10th house cusps anaretic, critical, or conjunct Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto So, these are just some examples - there can be more! And, these examples may not actually show being a career late bloomer. They could show you do have a career or do know what you want, but struggle with it at times, have difficulty getting the recognition you deserve, and progress may be slow. Keep doing things the right way! Suggested Reading: Astrology Indicators You're a Relationship Late Bloomer After the last year+ that we've had, a lot of people are looking at the idea of changing careers. Get a little perspective, and realize you hate what you do and want to do something else! This is common, and happens all of the time, regardless of what's going on in the world. So what kind of astrology can show it's time to change careers? Changing Careers with Astrology: Transits
The transit (moving) planets can impact you with changing careers, especially transit Uranus. Uranus is the planet of change, and often triggers us wanting to make some big changes in our lives. If transit Uranus is in your 10th house (of career), 6th house (of work), or 2nd house (of money), this can be a period where you're itching for a change professionally.
Transit Uranus making a hard aspect (conjunct, square, or opposite) to your natal 2nd, 6th, or 10th house cusps, rulers, or planets, or to natal Saturn, can also trigger a big desire to change things up professionally. You have to be careful with this though, since these aspects can make you act in haste and not think things through, so you need to avoid impulse and be smarter about it. These are fantastic aspects for getting out of a rut professionally though, so if you've felt really stuck for a long time, you can push through now. Transit Uranus making an easy aspect 9sextile or trine) to the came points can also be times to change professionally, however it's much easier and without too much upheaval. You can put together plans, and make things happen more smoothly. Also noting that currently, transit Uranus is in Taurus, which naturally rules money, so many people will likely be focused on making changes in the way they make money during this transit. It's even more the case if Uranus in Taurus is touring your natal 2nd, 6th, or 10th houses, or aspecting your 2nd, 6th, or 10th house cusps, rulers, planets, or natal Saturn. Transit Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto can also stimulate a desire for change professionally when they aspect the same points. There can be more opportunity and a desire to expand with Jupiter; you can be more disciplined and have to work extra smart and hard at it with Saturn; and you can make a complete, total transformation with what you do professionally with Pluto. Changing Careers with Astrology: Progressions
Your progressed chart adds one day to your date of birth for every year you've been alive. This chart reflects how you change with age, and it can be used in prediction. When your progressed Midheaven changes signs, this is often a big one for changing careers. You're looking for a new professional focus, and you can be open to a whole new foundation in your life overall.
Progressed planets entering your natal or progressed 10th house, or natal planets entering your progressed 10th house, can also show you'll want to make changes professionally. It may be focused on whatever the planet rules. In general though, progressions stimulating a desire to change careers often comes when you're experiencing major changes in your progressed chart overall. Multiple house cusps or planets changing signs, entering a new progressed lunation phase, multiple natal planets changing progressed houses - this can indicate career changes, but it usually comes with lots of other changes in your life, not just professionally (total overhaul!). They have their place in your natal chart, and they have their impact via transit. Which planet does the initiating of them all? That would be Mars. Mars in Astrology
In your natal chart, Mars shows what energizes you, drives you to take action, and how you act when you do. This is mostly seen through the sign and house location of your natal Mars.
Transit (moving) Mars impacts your natal chart by touring through your natal houses and aspecting your natal planets. This impacts where your energy and drive is focused currently. Take Initiative With Mars
So, times that are good for taking initiative usually involve Mars. When you have the transit planets making a beneficial aspect (sextile or trine) to your natal Mars, this can be very helpful for you to take initiative with whatever you want. You can be excited and enthusiastic, ready to go.
When the transit planets are conjunct (aligned with) your natal Mars, your energy may be focused in a way that the transit planet directs. It can be strongest when it's transit Jupiter, Uranus, or Pluto. With the Sun, it can be physical, with Mercury, it can be mental, with Venus, it can be with others, with Saturn, it must be disciplined, and with Neptune, it can be spiritual. When the transit planets are making a hard aspect (square and opposition) to your natal Mars, this can make it difficult for you to take initiative. You may lack energy, drive, and enthusiasm, or experience many blocks in the way that keep you from proceeding forward. You have to go at a slower pace, and make better plans. Transit Mars brings great energy for taking initiative with the areas of life ruled by the house in your natal chart it's touring. This can be a period that lasts for about 2 months, and you may be extra driven to get started. Transit Mars also aspects your natal planets, and when it's sextile or trine, you can find it's a lot easier to take initiative, and you have less in the way. When transit Mars is square or opposite one of your natal planets, this can be a challenging time for taking initiative, and you may lack energy and drive, have obstacles to overcome, and are generally pretty frustrated and need to have an outlet for energy. Transit Mars conjunct one of your natal planets can make it important for you to take initiative with something that planet rules at that time. It usually only lasts for about 3-5 days, so it's something you can feel driven to take action with quickly. Without any action, you can be quite frustrated and lash out, so taking action is important. You can feel this strongest with your Mars Return, which is when transit Mars returns to the exact same position it was at when you were born and conjuncts your natal Mars. This happens roughly every 2 years. You can feel extra energized and driven, and it can trigger you to take initiative with something. When Mars is Retrograde:
A planet is retrograde when it appears to move backward from our view here on Earth, and retrograde planets operate differently since normal motion is forward. Mars retrogrades roughly every 2 - 2 1/2 years, and this can be a time when we have difficulty taking initiative. Personally, this may be focused on the areas of life ruled by the natal house(s) the Mars retrograde occurs in for you.
It can be strong with any natal planets Mars retrograde is square or opposite, but if Mars retrograde conjuncts, sextiles, or trines any natal planets, you may have an opportunity to take initiative for a second time, or in a different way than you've tried before. Quick Note for Mars Retrograde Natives:
If you were born while Mars was retrograde, you're a Mars retrograde native. With Mars retrograde, you may struggle with taking initiative in your life, and may find that you have to learn how to do so at some point, otherwise you feel like you never really get anything off of the ground. You may have the best energy while Mars is retrograde in transit, and operate more smoothly, so that can be a time to look forward to.
