Friends are ruled by the 11th house, and the kind of friends and friendships you have, the way you view them, and what you want from them, can be shown with this house. Look at the sign on the cusp, planets in the house, and location of the ruler. For example, I have Virgo on my 11th house cusp, and I was always very discerning with my friends, separating casual friends and real friends even as a small child. Funnily, Virgo is also a dual sign (along with Gemini, and to a lesser extent, Pisces), and I also always seemed to romp around in a trio as a kid. I have my Sun and Mercury in my 11th house. With the Sun in this house, you feel very comfortable around your friends, and usually have an easy time making new friends. Mercury in this house shows an ability to express yourself with your friends. Mercury is also the ruler of the house (rules Virgo), so having the ruler in the house adds some easy energy.
Earth and water signs on the cusp tend to have a harder time making friends, though that can be overcome depending on other factors (like my Sun and Mercury in this house). Saturn in the 11th house is probably the most difficult because you take friendship so seriously when young that you have a hard time making any friends at all, except with those much older than you.
The house that has Aquarius on the cusp, the sign naturally ruling the 11th house and friends, can also add show some more about your views of friendship. For example, I have Aquarius on the 4th house cusp, which rules your family, and the close friends I have, I view as my family. Aquarius on the 1st house can show friendships are very important for you in life; 2nd house can show you place a lot of value and find a lot of worth in your friendships; 3rd house can show needing a mental connection, being drawn to intellects, having friends younger than yourself, or treating them like a sibling (or they are one); 5th house can show a real love for your friends, being generous with them, wanting attention from them, and you can find help romantically through them; 6th house can show you do a lot for your friends, are practical in your view of friendship, and don’t get too emotionally-invested; 7th house can show you commit to your friendships, try to balance all of them evenly, and want to constantly improve them; 8th house can show you’re intense and possessive of your friends, and want to be friends with powerful people; 9th house can show you’re gregarious and easy with friends, make lots of them, and like friends who expose you to other ways of thinking; 10th house can show you want your friends to live up to certain standards, or that you aspire to be like your friends; and 12th house can show you’re shy with making friends but will do anything for your friends, sacrificing yourself for them.
