October 2014 Full & New Moons: Lunar Eclipse in Aries & Solar Eclipse on Scorpio
A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are exactly opposing one another in the zodiac. It tends to signal a time of endings, culminations, and things coming to fruition. A new moon occurs when the transit Sun and Moon are in the exact same spot in the zodiac. It tends to signal a time of new opportunities, growth, and optimism. A lunar eclipse is like a full moon, and a solar eclipse is like a new moon.

October 8th 2014 Lunar Eclipse in Aries
A lunar eclipse occurs at 6:51AM ET at 15 degrees 6 minutes of Aries. In Aries, we have independent minds and strong wills. We defend ourselves a little too quickly, act in haste, can be impatient when we’re emotional. If we rein in our emotions, we can get control over situations, and bring closure to important things. We express how we feel when we feel it, and don’t hold anything in and hold any grudges. This eclipse is conjunct (in the same spot as) transit (moving) Uranus, adding to our impulsive behavior and need for independence. It’s also trine (positive aspect) transit Jupiter in Leo and transit Mars in Sagittarius, so it’s part of a grand trine, where three planets are around the same degree in the signs of the same element. This is usually harmonious, and with the fire signs, we’re creative and need to express ourselves, daring and confident, but we can waste the good energy if we don’t take action or are too full of ourselves. Remember that the impact of eclipses can last up to six months. If you're an Aries Sun, Moon, or mid-Aries rising, you may feel the effects of this moon most.
October 23rd 2014 Solar Eclipse in Scorpio
A solar eclipse occurs at 5:57PM ET at 0 degrees 25 minutes of Scorpio. In Scorpio, we have an easier time facing the more serious aspects of life and the world. We don’t view it so pessimistically, and try to be constructive. We can deal with the dark side, the things we hide from everyone, and can come to terms with some secrets and skeletons. It’s of our own choosing, and we try to be positive. WE can begin to transform ourselves, our lives, and the world for the better, emerging from the ashes after what’s seemed like several forevers. This eclipse is conjunct transit Venus in Scorpio, which softens harsh Scorpio. We can connect better with one another, compromise and talk of peace, and work together over common bonds and interests. We could see quite a few people enter into important relationships since Venus rules love and Scorpio rules intimacy. This could be personally, or even with countries. Venus also rules your income and Scorpio rules other people’s money, so this is an excellent eclipses for individuals and countries to deal with financial matters. Remember that the impact of eclipses can last up to six months. If you're a Scorpio Sun, Moon, or rising, you may feels the effects of this moon most.
