A new moon occurs on February 8th at 9:39AM ET at 19 degrees 15 minutes in Aquarius. This new moon makes it a good time for us to focus on the future, our hopes and dreams for that future, and how we can create the future that we hope to have. As we’re one month into a new year, we’re thinking further ahead now. With the Mercury retrograde now over, which began in Aquarius, this new moon helps to correct what went wonky with that retrograde, and bring us back to where we were when the year first began and what we were hoping for at that time. Take chances on your dreams now, and focus on how you can create the kind of future you envision. This can apply to all of us on a personal level, as well as to the world as a whole. How can we make the world a better place? In what ways can we contribute? Even the smallest contribution can make a measurable difference, and under this new moon, we’re hopeful about that.
Aquarius rules our friends and groups, and so we can make more connections with other people, expanding our networks an social circles, and focus more on interactions of all kinds, but especially using technology. Aquarius is one of the ruler of technology, and does rule the internet an social media, so we can spend more time connecting through these mediums.
We want to band together in a lovely way and create change, another thing Aquarius rules. This new moon is sextile (positive aspect) Uranus in Aries, who is the natural ruler of Aquarius, so there’s some extra pleasant energy with this new moon, and we have more ease with the natural energy of Aquarius. It also makes us more inclined to make changes, and to embrace the changes around us. We can be more independent, original, and eccentric, and we like it in ourselves and in others. We can find opportunities when we embrace that, and through our connections with others.
The difficult energy with this new moon comes with a square (hard aspect) to Mars in Scorpio, so there can be some excess energy that we have to deal with. It riles us up too much and we get angry far too easily, or we lack the drive we need to get things done. We need to make sure we’re not pushing ourselves too far too fast or being too impulsive, but also not rest on our laurels for too long. Injuries and accidents can be more common with this new moon, especially when there’s heated energy, so stay cool Aquarius cool.

A full moon occurs on February 22nd at 1:20PM at 3 degrees 33 minutes in Virgo. Virgo is the most practical sign, and brings in some practical energy that we might be needed after the lofty Aquarius new moon. With the new moon, we’re up in the air, and we come down to reality with the full moon. Hard work and practicality pay off with this full moon, and we can get a lot of the little things done, out of the way, crosses off the to do lists, and done as best as we can. We can demand perfection from ourselves and others, but that’s too much to ask for, so we have to make sure we’re not being unrealistic about our expectations.
Virgo full moons can bring a lot of stress since we try to force ourselves to do too much, so avoid that. Give yourself a break, and don’t be hard on yourself when you need some rest or don’t get everything done according to plan. You’re only human. This full moon is excellent for giving up habits that are bad for us, and making changes to our routines that will improve our daily lives and health. We need to streamline, and we need to focus on doing right by our bodies, minds, and lives.
Both Aquarius and Virgo tend to be signs that don’t show much emotion, so we can seem to be less governed by emotion in general with these new and full moons. We’re trying to keep our cool after things were very uncool in January!
