Ceres is on the move, exiting energetic Aries tomorrow and entering Taurus, the sign that is believed Ceres actually rules. This puts Ceres at home in a comfortable position! What is Ceres in astrology?
Ceres is technically a dwarf planet (like Pluto) but in astrology, we call it an asteroid (as it was before the dwarf planet designation). Ceres is super nurturing, supportive, caring, and there for you. I describe it as a supercharged Moon (maybe mixed with a little Venus).
You can find Ceres in your own chart on astro.com (in Extended Chart Selection, click on Additional Objects, and select Ceres from the menu). Ceres in Taurus Dates:
General Impact of Ceres in Taurus:
Ceres in Taurus gives Ceres a homey feeling. Some argue it's the real ruler of Taurus (instead of Venus; in truth, I have used Ceres more and more personally). So, this is a nice position for Ceres to be in.
Ceres in Taurus helps us to do more to take care of ourselves. We can be more sensual, but also more indulgent, so we may need to work on moderation. And we can be more nourishing with others, wanting to help them to feel satisfied with their lives and like they have enough. This can be a period where we focus more on money since both Ceres and Taurus tie to money, and we may have important financial decisions to make, spend more, make more, or plan more. We want to have enough now, and for the foreseeable future. We may be more invested in the physical world and physical nourishment. This may mean focusing more on making sure we and others have enough of physical items (or things like money, which provides), and we can be more tactile ourselves. It's a nice period for self-care, massages, and a little pampering. Ceres in Taurus Aspects:
June 10th: Conjunct transit Uranus in Taurus (12 degrees) + June 11th: Square transit Saturn in Aquarius (13 degrees) - This comes with the second exact hit of the Saturn/Uranus square (June 14th). Ceres is on the Uranus side of this square, and we may see sudden/unexpected changes regarding resources, finances, or values, feel suddenly insecure, or lack what we need in a tangible, physical way. We may benefit from nurturing ourselves in new ways, in groups, or by focusing on our dreams, and not letting lack or limitations keep us from maintaining an eye on change and the future.
June 13th: Sextile transit Venus in Cancer - This can be a pleasant aspect helping us with the Saturn/Uranus square, and we can work on being more nurturing of ourselves and helpful with others, and we may feel better managing the difficult energy. July 9th: Sextile transit Neptune in Pisces - This can turbocharge our compassion and empathy, and we can do a lot more to help others. Can also be good for nurturing involving the arts. or water. July 16th: Trine transit Pluto in Capricorn - This can help us take control of our resources and create positive transformations to make them more powerful. July 18th: Sextile transit Sun in Cancer + Square transit Venus in Leo - Indulgence may be very high with the square to Venus, and we have to moderate better. We can focus more on what we need with the Sun, and work on giving ourselves what we need. July 27th: Sextile transit Mercury in Cancer - This can make it easier to communicate what is needed, come up with ideas and plans for how to get what we need, and we can focus more on the needs of the mind. Can be good for mental nourishment. July 28th: Square transit Mars in Leo - both planets are at 29 degrees, the anaretic degree (a point of crisis energy). There may be some dispute over money, resources, or values, and we bash heads more easily when it comes to our needs. We need to make sure we're being considerate of everyone, and not ignoring ourselves and being steamrolled, or ignoring others and being selfish. A healthy outlet for frustration and anger can be helpful. December 25th 2021: square transit Jupiter in Aquarius: This is a HOT aspect! With both at 29 degrees, we may see an expansion of issues with getting and giving support and nourishment. We may go overboard with the buying of stuff (this is Christmas after all), but should maybe rein that in! January 24th (mean) and 30th (true) 2022: conjunct transit North Node in Taurus: This is a big aspect that can bring attention to support and nourishment overall. We can focus on making sure we have what we need, and that we;re helping others to have what they need. We may need to move forward with changes that help us do that, and it may be uncomfortable, but ultimately necessary and helpful. Final Notes:
Overall, Ceres in Taurus is a nice transit, but this one does come with some interesting astrology that might make it more energized than it normally would be in Taurus. Take care of yourself, and go with the flow.

Let's review! And if you want to keep track of planetary happenings every month (like Mercury retrograde), make sure you're signed up for the free monthly worksheet! The Basics - What is Mercury retrograde?
A retrograde occurs when a planet appears to be moving backwards from our vantage point here on Earth. It isn't actually moving backwards, it just appears that way. Mercury turns retrograde most often, about 3-4 times per year, and lasts for several weeks. When a planet retrogrades, what that planet rules tends to be thrown off, along with what the sign it's retrograding in rules.
With Mercury retrograde, we experience a shadow and a storm. The shadow period starts when Mercury first hits the point in the Zodiac it will turn direct at, and ends when it last hits the point in the Zodiac it will turn retrograde at. Most people don't feel the effects of Mercury retrograde until it enters the storm period though. The storm period of Mercury retrograde is when Mercury is moving at its slowest, less than 40 minutes per day. Mercury is a fast-moving planet and hates it when it's moving slowly. There's usually two storm periods, one around the time Mercury turns retrograde, and one around when it turns direct. Mercury Retrograde in Gemini 2021 Key Dates:
Mercury Retrograde Effects:
Our second Mercury retrograde in 2021 is in Gemini, and air and mutable sign ruling the mind. Gemini is a mentally active sign, always focused on ideas and plans and sharing what it's thinking, and that can be a challenge during Mercury retrograde. We may fixate on specific ideas and plans, become scattered and confused easily, have trouble with concentration, or get stuck in the weeds. We may need to take a step back and give our minds a break from anything overwhelming.
Gemini likes to keep busy, and we may find we're either super busy (which adds to overwhelm) or not busy enough (which generates restlessness and anxiety). We need to find some middle ground and keep ourselves busy enough that we're not itching for something to do, but not so busy that we're frazzled and unable to deal with things. Gemini is a communication sign, so there may be lots of news and facts and information flowing, but we may struggle with conveying the right message, or get caught up in communications that aren't important. We can be more easily upset by what others say, and we have to do a better job guarding ourselves. Try not to take everything you hear as deeply personal, and use some more logic and reason. With Gemini ruling the mind, this can be an excellent period for learning, teaching, and writing, and they can serve as positive outlets for your mind. You may want to pick up something you were interested in before and dive into it again, share knowledge you have, or pursue some creative writing. Gemini is also naturally ruled by Mercury, so Mercury retrograde in home sign Gemini can reeeeeeeeeally throw us off! But it all comes down to that mental energy, having solid mental outlets, not getting overwhelmed, and having some mental space. The Gemini Solar Eclipse & Mercury Retrograde
The biggest thing with this Mercury retrograde is a solar eclipse occurring on June 10th conjunct (aligned with) Mercury! This is an excellent opportunity for second chances, something that retrogrades love, and with the solar eclipse energy, you can be more enthusiastic, energetic, and pursue new opportunities. This is such strong energy for second chances - don't miss it!
Mercury Retrograde in Gemini 2021 Aspects:
During the retrograde, Mercury will make only 2 major aspects to the other transit (moving) planets. They are:
The Moons of Mercury Retrograde:
The Moon travels through both signs Mercury naturally rules as well as Gemini during this retrograde. It's in Virgo (ruled by Mercury) June 15th (11:02PM ET/8:02PM PT) to June 18th (4:54AM ET/1:54AM PT), which can increase anxiousness, and we need to take better care of ourselves. It's in Gemini (ruled by Mercury and the sign the retrograde occurs in) June 8th (2:48PM ET/11:48AM PT) to June 11th (3:23AM ET/12:23AM PT) and this comes with the solar eclipse, and is likely the strongest part of this retrograde.
Final Notes:
The retrograde begins at 24 degrees Gemini, so those of you Geminis born June 13th to 17th may feel the start of the retrograde most. The retrograde ends at 16 degrees Gemini, so those of you Geminis born June 4th to 8th may feel the end of the retrograde most.
